I haven't tried it myself, but I think someone on the forums said that if you kill Anders, they wrote it so Merrill will stick with you no matter what, even if you side with the templars? I dunno if that person was right or not, but it wouldn't surprise me if they programmed the game to prevent people from ending up with an unbalanced party in the end.

Yep. If you talk to her even once she'll auto side with you cause Hawke pulls out some "minimizing the damage" logic and she agrees.

Only way I found to kill her and kill Anders is to max Anders Rivalry, get Merrill's rivaly high (don't max it though or she'll still side with you) but never talk to her ever and then side with the templars.

Talk to her even once though and you can kiss that goodbye.

Wh... what? People don't like Oghren in Origins? I loved Oghren. :(

He was less fun in Awakening, but then I can't name a character I liked in Awakening. They were all really obnoxious. Including Anders. I hated him then too.

Also, I assumed the End Card from DA:O details events after Awakening took place, particularly with regards to Oghren. Hehe... mabari chariots.

Oghren is the most intolerable companion of any RPG I've ever played. I can't really put in words how much I hate him. I'm the pragmatic sort, so I think turning down help is stupid, but Oghren is the one character I wouldn't miss if he was devoured by darkspawn; he was on permanent "suicide mission" duty with me.

I can't understand what traits people could see in him that were even remotely likable. He's rude, he's disgusting, he's kind of homophobic, and he's otherwise a general walking disaster in terms of every single aspect of his own life.
