I very much doubt they'd bother going back to a finished story to give us unnecessary details about the Amell family. Hawke, Bethany/Carver and the Magi human Warden were the only members of it who mattered, and that had nothing to do with their ancestry, only their actions.

I'd like to learn more about House Cadash, Shale, & the dwarven Inquisitor. I guess, it couldn't hurt to know more about the Amells, as well, though.

I think the Hawke family is more interesting lol,for example Malcolm was the one that sealed Corypheus.

Amell is just a noble family from Kirkwall with Magic in their line and a dumb uncle lol, other then the Warden Amell there is nothing really interesting about them.

I don't think the Trevelyans are a family that comes from nobility.

With what information are you jumping to that conclusion? More over, why would that matter?

I am aware the Couslands are older than what I said. I said they have a long history with the Theirins, from fighting to working with them.

Ooops my apologies. Misread you late at night.

I'm a bit tired of hearing about Amells, to be honest. They had their references already. I don't even need to hear more about the Couslands that I played, I just want to move on and hear about or start something new.

Screw the Amell family and the Hawkes, all they bring to Thedas is death, destruction and cringe-worthy lines.

The Amells have some loose ends that need to be tied.

Loose cannons, you mean? And yes, they definitely need to be tied down...

I will NEVER stop believing that Flemeth kept Fergus alive after being attacked by Darkspawn.  Since the Cousland's date back to Connobar...I do think there is a connection.

Never even though about that! Definitely a strong possibility!

They are a family that produces a lot of mages. What else is there to find out? And by that I mean what makes them more important than any other family?

Well, the magi Warden is an Amell and Hawke comes from that line and I was curious about the other siblings of the Warden.

The only thing that puts the Amell line above any other family is that the player character in both games can be from that family. No other family line has that ability.

Now whether that is simply a curiosity or whatever is open debate, but it is at least a distinction worth being noted.

I believe it was stated by Gaider that it was meant to be an easter egg and nothing more.

Well it certainly turned out to be more! They piqued my curiosity with more family members being out there in the world.

Nah, still just an easter egg. I actually think they won't be doing something like that again because fans took it far more seriously than it was supposed to be.

You can see what happened to it in DA2 lol,it's empty and Cassandra interrogates Varric.
Gamlen remains in his hovel,i doubt anything interesting will happen to him or Charade, the Seekers were only interested in Hawke/Warden-Commander.

Since the importance of the Amell family can be reduced greatly by not having a human mage warden, it is not reasonable to hope for more focus on the Amells. Should it happen, then it will happen, but in the meantime, I wouldn't hold your breath.

I wouldn't mind hearing more about the Amells, but who really interests me is the Surana family if anyone. Surana Warden is practically a blank slate compared to the others.

Cousland = Pretty much defined in DA:O as a minor noble family whose ancestry dates way, way back

Amell = Referenced extensively in DA2 through the characterizations of Hawke, Leandra, Gamlen, Charade, Carver and Bethany (to me they count as Amells as much as they do Hawkes, possibly more so)

Tabris = Cyrion and Adaia define Tabris pretty much as somewhat notable city elves

Mahariel = Mysterious parentage but pretty much a part of the clan seen in DA2

Aeducan = Also defined in DA:O as the ruling dwarven family

Brosca = Casteless family defined through Warden, Rica and Kalah (I think that's her name)

But what do we know of Surana other than that he/she is an elf and a mage? Other than the one line of dialogue referenced in the beginning of the Origin, there's virtually a blank slate when it comes to the Surana Warden.

Not minor.  They're basically Dukes, second only to Kings

Couslands!

Nooo!

I like the Amells.

My favorite class is the human mage in Dragon Age Origins and his background is now with Dragon Age 2 much more interesting than before. I'm really happy for my human mages. And I wish that Hawke and Amell Warden find together. Hawke has in the worst case only the Warden as family member. Gamlen does not count...

I am very sad because the human mage Inquisitor will be not an Amell from Revka Amell.

They could be the Charmed One from Dragon Age. (a little joke)
