Then don't buy it and stay the F*** away from here.

Oh, so people who wanted to vote for McCain were supposed to stay "the f***" away from voting booths? Or those who want healthcare reform shouldn't have protested? And were the people who find the "war on terrorism" (Is there a real name for this war yet? War in Iraq?) either just or unjust unable to support or protest?
Nope. They were allowed. It's something called "free speech."
You should check it out, it's actually pretty cool.
It might give you something else that's called an "open-minded perspective."
They come in real handy. ;)

I'm sorry, but regardless of where you stand on the whole ****** thing.

I think we can both agree this is the worst idea for DLC I've ever seen. If someone wants to present this to BW, I'll videotape it.

Well, I would love for my female Shepard to be able to hook up with Tali, but somehow a gay/lesbian DLC doesn't sit right with me, not from an "eeeeww gay" point but something aside from that rubs me the wrong way about the concept. If I find the words to articulate it, I'll post them.

Yeah, I can see the marketing for this addon: "GAY DLC! THE GOOD KIND!!" Ugh. Not gonna happen. You think otherwise your swimming in De Nile.

If you are directing this at me I have just as much a right to voice my opinion as your own and I don't appreciate being called a troll as obviously you have no concept of what the word means.

Console Cowboy wrote...

indeed. i think these are the sorts of things that most players will want in DLC. and while you're scripting the new characters' stories why not throw a bone to a vocal division of your fanbase?

Hi Cowboy, I'm not against a new DLC with a gay / straight / bi romance option, I just don't want it to be the focus of the DLC. If the character is strictly a gay option great, I'll just say no thanks to the character's advances and happily continue playing but if the DLC is centered about any kind of specific romance more than anything else I think it detracts from the opportunity to explore non-relationshipy mass effecty type stories.

Again if the character is gay, straight or bi and that is just part of the personlality and development then that's cool with me. But have the main storyline and missions of the DLC focus on something unrelated to the hooking up part. Use that for flavor and for character development as you get to know that npc/companion, but don't make the DLC about that specifically.

1) The reason it seems like the whole game is about romances is because you are reading a romance thread. If you are suffering from this affliction, go read another thread or actually play a game. This will alleviate symptoms.

2) Writers need not be homosexual to writer same-sex romances. Just as they need not be blue aliens, bird exoskeleton humanoids, giant blobs or actual military recruits to write from those perspectives. It's because they're writers. They use their imagination and take us there. See how that works?

3) Implementing a M/M or F/F romance with an existing character is not a big $$$ operation. All it involves is re-jigging the gender checks and writing alternate dialogue for the 2% of all romance dialogue which actually references gender out loud. If a modder can crack this out in an afternoon, it's not a big deal for the devs. If there are three M/F romances per gender, it is not a big $$$ question to make one of each available for the other gender.

4) The reason they can do this and need not write completely different same-sex romances is because Bioware relationships, despite how "deep" people think they are, never ever really go into gender roles and the like. Apart from the line about Ashley not needing a man, or Asari reproduction. All they do is express their feelings for one another, and at their core, these do not change based on orientation.

5) And Jonathan Shepard, open-mindedness is indeed wonderful! Go get some. Go on. Freedom of speech may entitle you to crap all over other people's hopes in the name of free speech, but it doesn't make you open-minded. Those hopes and beliefs don't affect you, they aren't restricting you. The people who hold them don't deserve to have you claiming that they should respect your right to downtrod their asses.

Oooh. Where's the chat? I say we make our case known there.

It'll be on UStream. There's a pinned thread about it at the top.

I'd rather such a thing be in game anyway but I know that could offend some special people. I'd buy a DLC for it.

I'm all for it, and it shouldn't be too hard for BioWare to make. They really don't have to change that much. And I do not get why there are people so against same sex romances.

Frankly, I'm just very disappointed because I can't romance Tali with my FemShep. Seeing MaleShep's stupid face in those leaked vids makes me hate him even more, lol.

Where, just where people know what the options are or are not? I distinctly remember Bioware promising M/M option for ME2, which pretty much ensures that F/F option is there too. Wait until the friggin' game is out before you start to complain about what is or isn't there.

Welcome to the Bioware forums.

EDIT: And by that, I mean that you've obviously just arrived - there have been several threads containing spoilers on the all possible relationships. If you're interested, most of them have been posted on YouTube and JustinTV already.

Because of a screenshot that was released of some "files" in the game that supposedly prove romance options. Of course, the credibility of said screenshot is dubious, but seems convincing enough that it's got most of the community in agreement that it's legit.

Like you, I'll hold out until the game is released before I judge.

And then Casey and his famous interview happened.

There are several people playing the game already, it probably won't be long until the final romance info leaks.

Files that I too saw. Files that only tell the options, but nothing whatsoever about possible gender distinctions. Seriously people, wait 'till the game is out. Feel free to complain afterwards if you're not satisfied.

Do you honestly trust game devs, especially when they make ridiculously out of place comments like that? I'm quite willing to bet that he was yanking fanboy chain. How blind idiot must one be to not see Liara as an F/F option? He even got the name wrong.

I'm for it too I guess... never thought about it until I read a post above. Tali's my favorite, as is my female Shepard save, I'd hate to think I have to lose my favorite save in one play though just to be with Tali as a male character I don't feel the same attachment to. Seems oddly restrictive after what my character was able to do in the first game. I hope that means we would at least have the option to change SEX when we go through that change near the beginning, but even then I simply prefer the VO work that goes along with female shepard. I guess I'd be for optional free DLC, like the code that came with The Saboteur to unlock nudity. But only because I really would have thought this would already have been an option in the game.

No I completely agree. The "files" themselves could have been photoshopped regardless (I can tell because of some of the pixels and seeing quite a few shops in my time ^_^). Not saying that this is likely or anything like that, but nothing is 100% sure until the game is out.

I had my hopes up when I saw a clip of Jacob saying something along the lines of "We don't have to worry about fraternization here Commander" in not an official tone..but a 'i could be interpreted as coming onto you if you so let it be like that' tone.

But then...UGH those damn engineer guys brought up fraterization too, but only in terms of 'friendship and playing cards'! MY THEORY-RUINED! :(

Note:

DLC does not have to revolve around a love interest. Like with the rest of the game: love interests are *part* of it; and so, in that regard, gay-sexual LI's can be *part* of DLC.

I agree with a couple of posts before: DLC *just* for gay LI would be tasteless and very unlike BioWare. DLC including 'new love interests' however has my full support.

There is no need for that. Want to see something like that? Go out and meet someone. They made an option for female Shepard and Liara only because story is like that, and Asari dont care about sex(gender).
We dont want to see homosexual content in this game. I play games for 10 years now, and i can say that Mass Effect is the best game i ever played, and i love it. It would be really disgusting to see that in ME2, and i would never play a game like that again. I would be really dissapointed:(

Yeah I'm gay and would totally love this, but I agree.

Heck, I'd take a Turian homeworld DLC over this :D

But only something of that scale. Otherwise, gimme Jacob/Thane/Garrus (ok, more Jacob). Wish Kaiden would return :( Jerk.

HA - you wouldn't see it unless you actively looked for it, you perv.

Also: Fable 1 and 2, Sims 1 and 2 and 3, Dragon Age, Jade Empire. Just off the top of my head.
