Is there one?

I am on my 5th (I think) time through the game and I would like to play the DLC to add something new to my experience, but... that looks like a very pricy decision.

I mean I bought the trilogy as a set, so a $15 dlc would essentially cost me almost as much as the whole game did.

I bought out all the Dragon Age Origin DLC one by one (except gifts/pranks... never understood why anyone would buy that one) as well as Awakening.  Then they released a collector's edition including awakening as well as all dlc.  Did they ever do anything like that for ME3?

I didn't mind shelling all that out for DA:O because it was an amazing game and the DLC content as well as included items were both worth it.  In ME3 alot of the guns I would like to pick up are in a separate DLC with absolutely no content.  I don't think I will be paying just for guns anytime soon.

No, they haven't. I want them to for 360 (for ME2 as well) so I don't have to worry in future when the 360 becomes a vintage console- one of those times I really love PC for the backwards-compatible possibilities. I personally recommend getting the story DLCs but then I did so for both my PC and 360 (although trying to play connected on the latter to register my Leviathan and From Ashes is a pain, thanks to Omega's authorize online loop).

Quite frankly, if you paid fifteen dollars for the game, I hope you just mean divided by three, buying the DLC, especially on PC isn't that much of a hardship. I bought the basic PC version on release for $78 as an Australian gamer and the 360 version months later at $46. The DLC for PC was around $50 so my complete storywise game was about $128. I don't begrudge people who end up paying less or if they did eventually bring out a Ultimate Edition/Game of the Year but it's really silly to insist the DLC is expensive because you picked up the game at a basement bargain price.

The extra guns are okay, I bought one pack to use up my points but they aren't exactly essential DLC. They are extra options in a game that already has a lot of weapon and mod choice, especially when the story DLCs come with weapons and weapon mods themselves.

heh if you think ME3's entire DLC pack is pricey, take a look at ME2's. almost 6gb of installers total. the 4 main DLCs alone are a 4.36gb download.

If you act quick, they are having a Flash sale on PSN where all the DLCs are 50% off…. that's if you play it on the PS3.. lol

I appreciate the feedback.

@ ChowMan - I am on pc, but thank you for the heads up.

@ B.R.S. - Good thing I hated Mass Effect 2 then.  I got through that game twice just to get male/female shep ports into 3 and don't ever plan to play it again, much less extend that experience >.<  Luckily all the achievements were attainable in 2 playthroughs as well...

@ Allison_Lightning - Yes,  I did mean the price of the box set divided by 3 was about $20 a game.  I am familliar with pretty much all the guns from multiplayer, so I know specifically which ones I would like.  However, I am not willing to pay for specific guns with no actual additional content included.  I also don't think it is unreasonable to expect there to be a deal on the DLC by now.  Most games eventually release an all DLC included package.  I certainly don't have enough expendable income to buy games at $60+ on release and then shell out an additional $50 on top of it, and I am sure there are many out there like me.

I believe that I can upgrade from standard edition to collector's edition on Origin for like $10, but how much DLC does that actually get me?

Looked into it more and all it included is a $10 DLC (from ashes), some guns that don't seem to be available otherwise and some other stuff with minimal or no impact on your game.

EA games are rarely released as ultimates or GOTY, Dragon Age: Origins 'Ultimate Edition' was an exceptional case. I'd love it if they were different and if they ever changed this policy. I mean how many Bioware points do you have at the moment- to get all the story DLCs, you need about 4000 points. Also in terms of cheaper price, use the legacy Bioware Social website to purchase the points in more customizable lots.

I loved Mass Effect 2 and my point stands. I don't buy hundreds of games, I'm lucky if I have a combined total of forty between all platforms and most weren't bought anywhere near their release. There are rare ones I'd buy but Mass Effect is my favourite game series so for me the DLC is a worthwhile investment.

But you haven't had to buy the game at release, you got the trilogy at a cheap price. I think you would have been better off (unless you think Pinnacle Station is great) to buy the games individually as they are really cheap now, especially on PC (off EBay or in store, just not via Origin).

Just buy the story DLC, great content plus weapons rather than the mini 'using up the points' packs or refuse on expense grounds. Or you can slowly buy the storyline DLC piece by piece as you can afford it if you can't afford it in one hit. I'd recommend Leviathan>Citadel>From Ashes>Omega as a priority purchasing list.

Mass effect 2 for ps3 has a digital Ultimate Edition(every dlc) and Warfare bundle for those with the disc version ( armor and weapons even collector edition items)

but Mass effect 3 doesn't have any form of bundle.

If they port the trilogy to the X1/PS4 they may release all the DLC along side the games.
