Hmm... I think i'll disagree.

Spoiler

Plenty of badly made-up dwarves and humans, too. That isn't an elf-only thing.

Look at them.  LOOK at them.

Is there something funny about them to you, by any chance?  Look at Tallis' face and compare it with (real) humans.  Human mouth, human nose (not DA2elven!), caucasian eyes (not DA2elven!).  Her facial feature are completely human.  All that makes her an elf are her ears and her long neck.

Now look at Fenris.  I'm sure you can do this yourself.  Human nose, mouth, eyes.  All that makes him an elf are the ears and giraffe neck.

Humans have undergone eons of evolution and part of our success is our ability to reproduce with the right species.  As such, we are hard-coded to find symmetrical, human features attractive.  Tallis and Fenris look good because they look human.

So much for humans with pointy ears, right?

Her nose and mouth seem a bit off though.

I love all the "long hair is gonna get in your eyes and mouth and nose and kill you!!!" arguments, considering that hair doesn't actually move in Bioware games.

Oh yeah, forgot about DA2's primitive hair physics. My bad.

Tho, I can't remember the hair ever getting in my female Rogue's eyes, causing her to go temporarily blind, nor did I hear spitting sounds from the hair getting in her mouth. How curious.

Today's reveal (if they're doing one?) - Solas or Dorian, I think.

We're talking from a realism/story point of view, the argument is still valid.

Their hair doesn't move because it may be difficult to render, maybe that changes in DA:I, I don't know, it's not my biggest concern.

The elves argument is still going on is it? I can see both sides, yes elves look allot like humans in origins, but then that is the general stereotype for elves anyway. I can see why people might wanna roleplay/see elves with a more obvious difference though. For me it was always more about the social and cultural differences that made elves interesting.

I liked what they tried to do in DA2 but I think most of the time elves looked pretty bad. Even the more well designed one's looked kinda wrong, Fenris looked silly as hell with that Sword, Merril's neck looked terrible in that white romance outfit. Something was really wrong with the proportions of their bodies, they were just too skinny and their arms looked too long and thin.

So I do prefer Origins and so far Inquisition looks even better. We don't know what we can do with elves in the CC yet. Solas doesn't look all that human if you really look at his face and many of the elves could look very different for all we know.

If we're going by the "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" chart it may be Scribbles and/or Solas. If we can get both that would be awesome, but if we only get one I'm rooting for Scribbles.

I bounced professionally for 5 years with hair long enough that I could, and often did, sit on it. It never got in my eyes in a fight situation bad enough that I was blinded, and I never actually ate any of it in a fight either. The only downside to longer hair would have been if I'd been tender headed, since big tough biker guys seem to like to pull hair like a girl in a fight. I guess, if I'd just let it hang like a mop the whole time I grew it out, maybe? But since I brushed it daily and "trained" it where to hang, I never had any real issues with it, other than the aforementioned potential weapon thing. I did, nowever, tie it up in 17 evenly spaced hair ties before riding my own M/C, otherwise it took me 2 hours to get the windrats out.

In my opinion, it's not, because at the end of the day it's still a video game. Not to mention that it's a fantasy video game with dragons and demons and stuff. Realism really doesn't matter that much to me anyway. Realism is overrated.

I get it that some people take this very seriously and they want "realistic", practical hairstyles, and that's fine by me. There were plenty of short, practical hairstyles in Origins and DA2, and I'm sure there will be a lot of them in Inquisition as well. However, some of us want impractical long hair. Even if it doesn't move and it looks ridiculous. It's all about choice and options.

Since we're seeing demos and we're apparently "meeting" these folks at E3, I wonder if this will be the Inquisitor's party. If the demo PC is a female S&S Warrior (human), and we've seen Iron Bull and Sera, I'm guessing a mage would be next.

I could be completely and totally off though.

this makes sense too. And, curiously, it'd also point to Solas and DHMG. It'd be cool

I find that having long hair generally means you either stop being tenderheaded or you don't survive life. My hair seems like it just loves to reach out and grab things sometimes.

Even with that minor inconvenience, though, I feel like a lot of the people bitching about the long hair have never really had hair longer than their shoulder blades for any length of time. A bun takes approximately .2 seconds and even then most of the time I just don't bother because I've had butt-length hair most of my life and I just move instinctively to keep it out of my way. The 2 years where I had a bob were the years I was regularly blinded by my hair, because I couldn't just throw it behind my shoulder or tuck it behind my ear and have it stay. And having the small amount of length on my neck that I couldn't tie up during the summer was just so awful (I live in the South).

Yeah, free-swinging hair probably isn't the BEST thing for armor, but it's also a videogame. And if I were to suddenly magically become a knight, I still wouldn't cut my hair, I'd just either bun it or brade it and tape it (it's this thing where you wrap the braid around your head as a coronet braid, but instead of pinning it you take some ribbon and a yarn needle and sew the braid to the pulled-back bit of your hair. much faster, more comfortable, and less likely to fall down than pins for me).

I think Solas is the brains, considering he's an expert on the Fade, and he was described as "awkward" in some magazine previews.

That would make Dorian the looker.

EDIT: Quoted the wrong person. Not... sure how that happened.
