Like every single Bioware game except for Dragon Age 2, where everyone is bisexual, there will be multiple sexual preferences. Some will be gay, straight, and some bisexual.
Gotta point out that DA2 is not alone in only having one set. Baldur's Gate...KOTOR...Neverwinter Nights...Jade Empire they were all straight or bi...
Hmm, just curious but is it true that some of the companions will be gay exclusive? Or is it like previous bioware games where there are some straight, rest are bi? Not that there is a problem if there are gay exclusive, but I know I'll be pretty sad if I cannot romance Sera with my male inquisitor. She fits his personality I have in mind...
Oh Sera, girl, we need to talk about how to apply eye makeup.
Admittedly, it's better than most of the DA2 train wrecks...
I loves her outfit. I needs it.
With it being confirmed that characters will take whatever armor you put on them and make it their own, this outfit makes me really excited to see what Sera will do.
Has this been confirmed somewhere? I was waiting to hear more about the companion armour system.

As per current info (PAX, Nerd Appropriate) companion armor can be changed to virtually anything within class or attribute restrictions (if any). Companions have a "Custom Fit" if you will for all the armor though, where the armor retains a unique characteristic look for itself, while also adapting to a unique characteristic look for the companion.
Set orientations and also non-romanceable characters are spectacular, IMO.
I adored Aveline in DA2, even more so when she shrugged off Hawke's flirting. Of course she does that for Bro/Fem so it's not an orientation thing, but nothing wrong with a bit of unrequited love. Dems the breaks sometimes. C'est la vie.
With that said... Sera looks neat. I do prefer a more animated look to CG, my favorite style is embodied by the Leaders in Civ:Revolution. However I am liking the more real structuring/texturing of DAI. Nice work.
I agree. It definitely adds to a sense of realism. That said...
*THe following is based on what has been revealed so far and I reserve the right to change my opinion*
If that's the case and Vivienne/Cassandra are the only male inquistor romances, then I feel that the writers have done a poor job of balancing characters. Vivienne and Cassandra appear to be both extremely pro-established Order. Both adhere to the standards that have been set in place for centuries.
The inquisitor I want to play is a mage who desire to restore mage power without the worries ofa Circle or Chantry. Second option for me is Dalish and I hope to restore Arlathan. So I typically play a "fight the establisment" character. As that character, I would avoid romancing someone so supportive of those systems.
As more information comes out I might change my opinion, but I'm hoping that Sera is a possible romance for males.
just curious. why?
I'm no fan of the Dalish, that's all.

Thanks.
Yeah, I had read that blog before - but notice that it's from over two years ago. Understandably things could be very different now.

Yeeeah, it also says that it's something they're "trying" or "would like" to implement-- doesn't sound like a for sure thing. On the other hand, at that point they probably thought they had less than 2 years left to implement it, right? So with MORE time than expected, I'd HOPE they had adequate time to develop it. *crosses fingers*

Even DA2 didn't have all bisexual LIs. Sebastian was straight.
Bit of a blunt question, but why do people care about this? If they even really do care about it?
I could probably write a list with literally a hundred features I'd like to be added or refined in BioWare games before I would get to outfits customized for side characters.

Yeah, I agree - but we have been shown companions with fairly unique appearances, which makes me think maybe they aren't implementing the system exactly how it worked in that blog post.
(e.g. Vivienne's outfits are hugely iconic - does it seem likely that we'll be able to take her hat off and put her in ordinary mage robes, or is her appearance going to be selecting from a bunch of "unique to Vivienne" styles?)

Because for them , that is much higher on their "What they'd want refined" lists, just like how it is low on your "What I'd like refined" list.
I like her, Sera looks really cool so far. The armor, the face, the haircut, all very interesting looking. The quote sounds likeable as well, but it's only a very small insight on her character - I hope we get more info during E3!
The only thing that bothers me is that she looks like a human. Except for the ears there's absolutely nothing elven about her. A little disappointing tbh, I hoped the elven design was more of a mix between the unique DA2-look and the overall prettier DA:O-look. I guess there's still hope for NPC-elves, but Solas and Sera both look extremely human to me. They both have great character design, but the race design for elves in DA:I seems rather poor so far.
Thanks.

Yeah, I should have put that in there. This is the direction they wanted to go, but it may have been scrapped by now for various reasons.
That said, in the PAX2013 showing, there is talk about this briefly, with both Cass and Varric sporting new equipment from what they were wearing in Crestwood.
If each companion had two or three, or even just one or two outfits that looked good and were at least somewhat practical-looking, I'm pretty sure almost nobody would be raising an issue.

I'm sure they say so.
But I've spoken to enough people here to know that what they say they care about and what they actually care about are often very different things.
Is there a toggle to hide Sera's helmet hair cut in cut scenes?

I don't see why people would complain about something while they're don't really care about it. I'm sure there are, but I don't think that everyone who complained about armour customization (or the lack of) are like that.I'm sure they say so.

Just to be clear "Outfit" and "Gear" are different concepts.
An outfit is just the aesthetic property, the gear is the important bit of player-agency, allowing you to fine tune the character's performance. Classic Min/Max stuff.
For companion characters, "Outfit" comes very low on the priority list for myself, but "Gear" is somewhat high up. The Player Character I'd put them much closer together though. Perhaps even "Outfit" nudging out "Gear" by a narrow margin.
Nope, she's forced to wear it. That helmet grants her +100 cunning
.
I Freuded up the reading of this post pretty bad. I won't go into the details.
