Fattening up Ferelden for an easy conquest while bolstering Orlais for said invasion? Cunning, cunning...

Ah, my homie Dean! Way to be a a paragon of contrarianism. You know that's not what my intent in that post was. But, for the record, a big fan of your story corner. Your version of Miranda Lawson in ME3 is a favorite of mine.

Did your intent have something to do with Orlais already having plenty of espionage and commerce, and Fereldan already having plenty of military prowess?

I'm gonna do a mix of all 3 for my first two characters but have my qunari Inquisitor just do mostly military and some espionage.

Heh. I wasn't sure what it was, honestly: there were a couple of ways I could have interpreted it. I thought I'd go with the most amusing (for me).

Your approval of my vision of treachery and personal betrayal fills me with... not shame. Something good?

It's a shame most of my ideas are too big to write down anymore. I just don't have the time and motivation for my goodies. Though I'm currently editing through one at... just shy of 99 thousand words. Hopefully I can post it somewhere soon.

Fallout: Orleans, ahoy!

It depends on the location. In an area which is important for strategic purposes a military station makes more sense than a spy base or a trading station.

I guess a lot depends on where the Keep is located.   There seems to be potential for a keep in each of the main areas you visit.   If you can choose accordingly, then obviously a keep adjacent to the Abyssal rift would need to be focussed on military because it is always going to be under attack and  let's face it, there's not going to be much need for intelligence gathering so much as good scouts in that area.   A keep more centrally placed in Orlais would need to focus on espionage so you can keep abreast of the Game.   A keep in the Freemarches would be better focussed on trade since they are the bread basket of Thedas so there is going to be a good flow of goods.  Of course it may not work like that but be more akin to Awakening where you have to make choices how to deploy your troops and may also be limited to the amount of funds you have available.    If the decision is based on your home keep only then I think I'll wait to see how things pan out in game before making a decision.

It depends on how many keeps and the type of character I'm playing honestly.

For more than one keep it will go something like this,

For my rogues, it will probably be a mixture of espionage and commerce (keeping the gold flowing and the enemies at bay).

For my mages, a heavy focus on commerce (need those crafting materials after all!) with some military might for added defense.

For my warriors, all about the military might with some commerce to keep gold for those weapons and armor coming.

If it's only one keep, then probably character specific. I like the idea of keeping the gold flowing so commerce is likely my first run.

ill probably go:

1: espionage

2: commerce and military equally

im more of a make decisions after gaining a lot of information, and as for the trade and military, i cant take military over trade because i like to craft stuff and i cant take trade over military cause i dont want to make the game harder on me later on with less than adequate troops
