They try their best to keep up while Eye of the Tiger wails in the background.

Maybe I can put the companion I don't like on my mount's horn in the front and then put the rest behind me. Wouldn't that make for some great banter?

Maybe your mount pulls a wagon and your party rides along. xD

You know that's something I really miss when playing fantasy open world games.

They will run after you. A game called "catch the inquisitor" will commence.

If that is the case I see MANY Monty Python memes in the future.

I've just picked up Red Dead Redemption and while the game doesn't have "companions" as such, sometimes you end up meeting up with someone say in town, mounting your horses, and going for a ride together. During the ride the characters talk to each other.

I guess I don't really understand why that wouldn't be a possibility in Inquisition?

We'll have a magic glowing hand that can rip open the fade and you wonder why we have a pocket dimension for our companions while riding our horse.

That could be quite fun as well.

Imagine one of the companions being forced to ride 'shotgun' on another companion's horse for example, and then bickering about it. Or Varric riding with Cassandra.  B)

I would think that mounts would be an anti-frustration feature to be used on return to areas you've already been to in order to quickly access new areas opened up by future actions.

Instead of having to slog back and forth.

The demo's zone seemed fairly filled up with content, though I'm under no illusions that they showcased the 'best' area explicitly for that reason.

Cassandra and Varric on a horse, lol.  I think the horse would rather jump off the cliff.

Maybe they should all ride in a wagon pulled behind you.

Suddenly I'm imagining the Inquisitor and companions riding the Oregon Trail in a covered wagon.

Varric hops behind you and you can ride to new adventures with your trusty dwarf and the lovely Bianca!!

The others aren't required.

Hopefully they either follow you with their own mounts or keep up by jogging/running. Either way, when using mounts I don't want to lose the party banter and interaction.

Hey my companions can just run along behind me teach them a lesson being npc's in the first place

Really tho in skyrim it was awkward having to wait for the companion to keep up with you some times they could not even go to the same area as you because it was not accessable by foot

Because of the number and size variation I'd say not likely. If the game was just a next gen (like W3) then it would be much more likely. Worst case scenario , the mounts are MMO like and appear and dissapear when activated.

Would be hilarious if the speed of the mounts is the same as people on foot just so that your companions could catch up with you.

I posted in another thread - I hope they just run fairly closely behind us. That way if they add banter or comments or anything, you can still hear them, you don't have to dismount and the dialogue isn't coming out of thin air.

Because the game length is similar to DA:O I get the impression its a lot of empty space to ride across so they can say the world is XX times bigger and stuff. Rather than really adding anything to the game.

Actually, they've said it's 50 hrs of the main quests (full walkthrough of DAO for me) plus 50 hrs of the side quests. And the world of Dragon Age: Inquisition has been built for "hundreds of hours of exploration". "Game length" for DAO is pretty much the same as the "length of campaign", but with games like Skyrim Inquisition they are completely different things.

And if what they've been showing on PAX is any indication, they game is packed to the brim with things for you to do. I can see myself sinking good ten hrs in the Crestwood area alone.

So you can get on the frigging horse and get things done real fast, save the world in those 50 hrs and then call it a day, but the game is much more than that.
