What happens to your companions when you get on a mount?

No I'll just settle for I told you so when crunch time comes and things start to get dropped.
It this case, I'll settle for "I told you so" when the game proves you wrong. But I gotta say, this whole "We're doomed!" attitude is completely alien to me. "It will be bad." "Why, it seems to be coming together nicely." "Things always go bad." "Okay... But why do you even bother?"

They teleport.
It's what happens when you let mages loose.

I really hope they don't go "poof" or run beside you on foot.
They need to have their own mounts and ride alongside you.
I mean want that mess up the friendly banter between companions if they disappear and such?
Not to mention, either way looks absurd, especially for a 2014 rpg.

I've just picked up Red Dead Redemption and while the game doesn't have "companions" as such, sometimes you end up meeting up with someone say in town, mounting your horses, and going for a ride together. During the ride the characters talk to each other.
I guess I don't really understand why that wouldn't be a possibility in Inquisition?
Pathfinding is apparently the problem.

They wonder why the inquisitor is so slow they need a horse to go at their own running speed.

Do we have any new info on this? We saw the inquisitor riding a horse, but the camera view was such that I couldn't tell if the companions were still trailing along behind or had disappeared. Anyone catch what happened to them?

Never saw any. Also never saw what happens when you take a horse into a combat area, if indeed you can.

They're either running behind you, or they disappear then re-appear after you reached your destination. It would've been cool if they had mounts also. But no, I think it's the Skyrim companions all over again.

Now I'm wondering, if they do disappear...what happens if you switch your control to a companion and mount a horse as them? :S

In Final Fantasy 7 when my party members all surrounded me and then merged into my body I was like "AHHHH! AHHHH! GET AWAY!" It will probably be something like that.

The real question is dose Varric ride a Horse? or pony to accommodate his height? Or Mabari Chariots?

Pathfinding is apparently the problem.
Also, some of those paths are so narrow, a group of horses wouldn't fit.

....
They could ride in a line one behind the other, just like you do when trail riding with other people.

You tell them to take a hike as you ride majestically away into the sun set.

Protip: If it comes out 8 year old hardware(360,Ps3) as well as (Ps4,XBONE,PC) then it never had a chance of being "next-gen" in the first place.
Also I think they just disappear into hammerspace.
Do they also stay in that hammerspace when you get off said horse? I've watching all the demo footage, and I couldn't find any indication that your companions were ever actually physically behind you.

Dwarf Quisitor rode a horse in one of the demos. The dismounting was a little bit... awkward. (And I don't mean poorly animated, I mean it genuinely looked like the Inquisitor was having a little bit of difficulty getting down from his horse).

I wondered that but in one demo the spun the camera 180 degrees and they were there.

The party will probably order a magical flying bus, arrive at your destination before you do, hide in the bushes and once you've dismounted they'll pop up and join you.

They've probably been drinking dwarven ale and munching dried nug jerky while awaiting your arrival.

It'd be really cute if they all had personalised mounts. Apparently we can hoard mounts according to the devs? Maybe it'll be possible to assign different ones to each one.
I don't think they'll make the Skyrim mistake of just leaving 'em hanging because too many complained about that and they probably listen to what players say about other popular games too. And they know people love the banter so they wouldn't just make 'em disappear. Or maybe I put too much faith in them, who knows.

Made this gif from on of the trailers, looks like the companions disappear unfortunately(this could change but i highly doubt it). Shame since ill probably never use mounts unless its out of necessity if this is the case.

That dramatic bridge galloping looks more like a cutscene than actual gameplay to me though? idk, maybe I'm just overly hopeful.

I'm more concerned with what happens if you are mounted and you enter combat mode. I can live with one horse for the party since there is very little real effect. But if you have to keep getting on and off the horse, that gets old fast.
