My concern is they are making DA:I bigger just for the sake of making it bigger and no other reason and horses and lack of anything to actually do with them other than ride them is a disguise for that.

Still not a believer, huh? After all they showed us at E3? Come on. That dwarfisitor demo that unfortunately got taken down on Youtube shows location with something to do at every turn.

As for the followers and mounts, BioWare could still be working on that. Nobody would want to show something you're not absolutely sure will work and not crush the whole game in the middle of the presentation, right? Or perhaps they simply don't see it as a big deal—they didn't show (except for bootleg dwarfisitor video) jumping and other new means of traversing the environments either. And I desperately wanted them to do just that.

So I suggest we wait. There's still time.

No because they never showed how the horse works in combat. Riding a horse around a non combat area is not impressive or informative. We already know there are horses and no mounted combat. What we don't know is how they will deal with that.

12 weeks to go. The game is feature complete.

  • Once the scheduled time is done, the game is called Feature Complete, and development transitions into the Alpha phase.
  • Alpha (green) is when the development team focuses on stability and bug fixing, and stop adding new systems, features, and content. A lot of the systems and features that were built during the Production phase are not fully functional

Like I said.

Good quote but you totally bolded the wrong part. Adding companion mounts would be what I bolded.

Nope. If the system is unstable, you don't show it. My initial point. We don't know if companion mounts a feature or not. Just because they didn't show it, doesn't mean it's not there. They didn't show jumping and everything, and those features are there.

Common sense tells me if they took the time to add mounts into the game,  show off said mount, make additional exotic mounts, and make a mount DLC; they would at least give the companions all a generic horse to ride on.

It would be a large oversight if they didn't since I think a lot of people would just not use the feature due to the silliness of your companions either disappearing or running behind you at max speed trying to stay in leash range of your horse.

Adding 4 horses would put a lot of strain on the system. If it's not there at this point, then it will probably never be there.

If you looks at Witcher 3, the elements are there, it has the multi horse shots and horse combat. Those things are not ready, or working 100% yet, but they are representative of the final thing. Witcher 3 also has quite a bit longer (like 5 months) to get it right.

If. That's all I'm saying. We simply don't know that yet. And we don't know their priorities to compare fairly different games. Again, BioWare didn't show Inquisitor jumping, and CDProject in their demo showed as much of their Geralt's new moves as they could. Different priorities, nothing more.

I want your LI to ride behind you. Just so we can have this in-party conversation:

Male Dalish Inquisitor: Ma'vhenan, what are you doing?

LI: Just holding on to the saddle horn so I don't fall off, dear.

MDI: Ma'vhenan, I am Dalish. We ride bareback.

Actually, in the deleted "press" video with the dwarven Inq, you could see him jump. You couldn't see if the companions followed him though. Could be they took a detour and followed the paths.

you pan your camera around too many times and realize that they were never there at all...

If the very first question someone had when one of the devs had the bright idea to include mounts wasn't "What will the companions do when he hops on his horse?" I will eat my hat.

If the very second question someone had wasn't "What do we do about combat while traveling open roads while he's on his horse?"  I will eat two hats!

Which makes it all the stranger that it's not been answered or shown since there is no story element here to spoil.
