I play the game with "Show damage numbers" on (on Nightmare, if that matters) and noticed that

1. If I have two on-hit elemental effects (e.g. two elemental runes) on a weapon, only the first damage number shows. The second elemental effect never shows. For example, if I have runes of frost and spirit equipped on Varric, only the frost damage is displayed.

2. On critical hits and when using ability, the on-hit elemental effects never show.

 

My question is whether the said effects are applied and just not shown or not applied at all.
