What do think Stargazer and the whole "Tell me another story about the Shepard" thing was about? Breaking the fourth wall.

If you think about every playthrough is a different mass effect universe as every choice makes a new universe e.g.paragon playthrough is a different alternate universe to renegade
Thoughts on this theory
Personally I think every playthrough is a story about what would have happened if you would have been different so they are just variations of the same story but I don't believe that they happen in alternative universe because it's you who change and it's you who change things not the others. They always stay the same.

Well, my view is that there is an immutable prime ME universe, and any playthrough is a splinter of it, like fanfiction. Which is just as well, because a prime one would be a lazy renegade Shepard.

It depends on how you want to view it.
For myself there is only one canon and my alternate playthroughs where had Shepard do things differently don't really count.

Personally I don't have a canon playthrough. All my playthroughs are equal.
