I'm just realising that without his beard he'd look just like my Dad.

please, please have a different personality. i don't want to be feeling constant sheepish daughter guilt while i'm flirting with or murdering other characters in game.

He's gonna be mah new primary warrior companion. Not because he's a Grey Warden or because he seems like an absolute badarse, but the beard that glorious beard.

Are you certain your father isn't, in fact, a gray warden?

The only thing I know for sure is that there's going to be some fanfiction written that makes me very uncomfortable.

I'm thinking he's the mentor type like Wynne or Duncan.

Er, that's a matter of opinion.

Wow, really? I had no idea. Thank you for enlightening me!

Relatively homely people can still be badass and save the world.

I wasn't commenting on the competence of the characters, I was commenting on their faces. I will also say that Vivienne has a dead, emotionless face. BioWare says she's very powerful and accomplished, but she still has the face of a mannequin.

Besides, screenshots don't do the characters justice. They may look way better in game as not all looks are photogenic.

Cassandra looks way better in he videos, for example.

I don't think she looks any different in the newest trailer. Still has a face that is aesthetically displeasing to me.

because not everyone views beauty the same as you nor consider beauty to be as important as you seem to be implying it is.

There's always gotta be at least one SJW, right?

Blackwall.......interesting, but its going to take some getting used to, I've become so used to him being called Feathers and Beardy McWarden on these threads, same with DHMG, I'm so used to that now, any normal sounding name is gonna be a bit boring.

We're never going to stop calling them DHMG and Beardy, you know. Scribbles too.

Yes it does. If your default response to "I don't like this characters' face" is "well you're just shallow and your views on beauty aren't right" then you're a SJW. People are allowed to have opinions on what and who is attractive.

Let's see what's the party composition now. Balance? Fair?

Varric
Cassandra
Vivienne
Iron Bull
Sera
Blackwall
Bald Elf

4v3 now. What's the other 2?

Am I allowed to respond "they're actually quite attractive; you just have terrible taste"?

(Not sure I'd go that far personally, though I do think the DAI companions average a bit higher than DA2's group)

Dorian and Cole. The gender ratio is more skewed than I'd like.

Except you weren't saying "I don't like this character's face" or even "I think this character is ugly" you were saying "this character is ugly", essentially treating a subjective opinion as objective fact. It therefore made sense for them to point out that not everyone agreed with your point of view, or if they did, didn't considered it to be nearly as much of a detriment to the game's visual appeal as you implied it to be. Could their phrasing have used some work? Absolutely. But so, quite frankly could yours.

This is a discussion forum. You always treat every post about subjective things as someone's opinion. Stop being so dramatic.

He's probably going to die, or you will have to kill him. He's got that doomed tainted vibe going on.One last great adventure before the long walk.

He does look a little grizzled. I wonder if he is near his Calling.

If his joining the Inquisition *is* some version of his Calling (even though its not against darkspawn), I hope he goes out like a boss and with a mountain of slain enemies around him.

Something along the lines of telling the Inqusitor to go on without him, while turning to face the horde of enemies barreling towards him... cliche I know but it's one of those cliches that never get old.

6 male vs 3 female ? I don't like it. So much for gender equality.

Ooooh I love it when someone asks this question.  :P

"Bara" is a Japanese genre of manga aimed at gay men. Unlike the better known "Yaoi" which is aimed primarily at young adult women and tends to feature wiry pretty boys, Bara tends to feature comparatively large and muscular men. He was nicknamed Ser Bara, partly because of his large burly appearance that would fit in well with that particular genre of manga, and partly because some people are wishful thinkers and wanted him to be the token gay character.

Unless those people are talking about how attractive a character is because then they are just sad and trying to turn the game into a dating sim, right?

Only three females out of the companions.   Leliana is not a companion and Scribe Girl, although not confirmed, is probably one of the advisers.
