(Before I begin, I am sorry if this is the wrong section to post this in.  Long time member, first time poster.)

Hello everyone.  I'll be the first to admit I was "late to the party" when it came to playing Dragon Age.  I didn't buy Origins

or II until late last year when I saw them in the $10 or less pile at GameStop.  I always wanted to play them but for a while

I had a broken 360 and a computer that's not really built for gaming.  By that time I had a new 360 and was eager to

start playing both of them.  I've since beaten both several times, and find myself coming back to play them over and

over again.

Just a few weeks ago I decided to buy the Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition for PC - thankfully I still had my VAIO.

I've been messing around with it and it feels so much better than the console version.  May just be me but it makes

the 360 version feel like a cheap knockoff.

Suppose my question would be: I know this is a BioWare game, and BioWare games always give birth to some amazing

mods.  I used to be heavily addicted to Neverwinter Nights and would love to recreate that with DA:O.  My question is

does anyone have recommendations on mods?

In particular I'm looking for mods that add new levels to explore, and maybe a few new party members.  I've always respected

the BioWare mod community and I'm hoping it can help me out here :).

(P.S.: if anyone knows of a mod that would add Hurlock Vanguard armor, you'll be my best friend for life_

Try this: http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/

This is the largest known mod site for DAO & DAA, I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for there, and much more too.

My recommendations would be some graphical mods, like high-res textures or updated characther models. You should look the top files list, the best and most useful mods are there.

EDIT: http://www.nexusmods...91&user=1&pUp=1 - this mod gives your characther wearable darkspawn armors, including the hurlock armor

Hi Romanic. I get all my mods on the Dragon Age Nexus: http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/?

It's mostly for DAO because of the toolset, but there are some nice mods for DA2 as well. Start by browsing the most popular of all times, that will give you some idea of what's available. For DAO there is pretty much anything you can think of.

Have fun!

The main mods for me are for adding Respec potions, opening locks as any class, and an extra dog slot (Sorry; no proper titles are popping into my faded memory). As for content, there was a project to recreate one of the BG games, but never tried it myself.

Perhaps the DAO Nexus site might be of aid.

Yah I'm looking through Nexus, but it seems like you need to be a member to download most of the bigger mods.

Are there any good sites besides that one?

I'd suggest you register to nexus, it's free and you'll only gain with it.

The old BioWare Social Network had some good DA mods, but most of them are available on the nexus too.

As mentioned, DA Nexus is the principle site for Dragon Age mods. There are also many fine mods available only from the project section of old!BSN.

Membership at DA Nexus (which is required to download larger files) is free. Premium members get certain perks, I believe, but access to the files just requires registration.

I also recommend scooping up the free official promo items from BSN, before they disappear... it's mostly trinkets and a few weapons, but free is free.

Thanks all, I really do appreciate it.

If anyone has specific mods to recommend I'd welcome that as well.

Oh, there are so many good mods. I probably use at least 70-80 per character (I know some people will think that's a tiny amount, but to me it's a lot). :)

I'll do my best at remembering names, but these may not be exact: Morrigan Restoration Patch, Zevran Dialogue Fix, Ser Gilmore NPC Companion, Extra Dog Slot, Character Respec, Zevran Romance Scenes, Improved Romance Scenes-Alistair, Zevran ASAP, ZevRing, Alley of Murders, Leliana Romance Scenes (still in development), Dahlia Lynn's Royal Wedding, Zevran Open Wedding, Sleep Until Dawn, and the list goes on and on. There are also many great mods to help you improve the character creator, along with some nice morphs if you want to change the way a companion or NPC looks.

Just a quick mention that the Zevran Dialog fix (ZDF) is merged with the Morrigan Dialogue Fix:  so two for one!  I highly recommend this game fix.
Many mods overlap so be careful should you try to use them together (read the mod descriptions)

I'll specifically add the mod " Dialogue Tweeks".

"Advanced Tactics" is pretty sweet too

A nice blog on the whole mod topic: http://social.biowar...736/blog/8671/   Some info is dated but its still a very good guide
Another Guide: http://www.reddit.co...mod_dragon_age/

hmm wow 70 -80 wow.. LOL

My mod list for DAO is very long and they all work wonderfully together. Here is my AddIns folder and my override folder. oops, looks like some of override is not showing in the screen-shot. but you get the idea. :D And the "Awakening folder is for Awakening mods"

Some of my mods are there too!

However, I humbly suggest that you play through once just to learn the game and what you want to change.  Some mods don't play nicely with others so you have to be careful there.

Mods that add Companions (listing only the ones that are 'close' to complete)

Ser Gilmore NPC

Karmas Companions

MerAnnes Dwarf Companions

Quests

Dark Times (this mod does have a number of bugs and is not compatible with all mods - including some of the Official DLC)

Return to the Korcari Wilds (also adds Companions, but incomplete)

Temple of Vulak

Pints and Quarts

Ancient Elven Ruins

etc etc etc (I have a bunch of them)

Have fun! :D

^^I think they already played the game a few times on XBox, correct?^ I don't know how different if any the story line is. All the mods I have listed play well together on my system.

There are a lot more great mods out there, like MerAnne said... try one at a time and it should be fine. Have fun!!!

This is a copy/pasta of the 'Quests and Dungeons' post from the modding list on my old blog:

I like dungeons. And puzzles. I want some quests I don’t have memorized like a litany. I want a Blight fest that will take me a year to finish. (I also want a unicorn, and for Steve Valentine to read me bedtime stories.)

Quests

Tombs of the Undead by Captain Strange. Three superb dungeon crawls, of varying difficulty. At some points, so brutally difficult (on Nightmare) I want to cry. This is a good thing.

Alley of Murders [mirror] by AmstradHero. A short, lore-appropriate murder-mystery quest in Denerim. Fairly easy, but worth a playthrough.

Standalone quests

A Tale of Orzammar [mirror] by Bioware. An official, unvoiced promotional module. As a prequel for the Dwarf Noble Origin, it offers some insight into dwarven politics. Worth running through at least once.

Thirst by searanox. An extended campaign, set in a non-canon Thedan city. Unvoiced, but entertaining. The different ‘origins’ and mutliple paths make this quite replayable.

A quest to-do list placeholder and notice of intent... thing

I haven’t played these yet, but I’m adding the first five to my install, and I may try one or two of the second group as well.

Castle Cousland [mirror] by dragonagefun. Level 7-9+ (suggested).
Ancient Elven Ruins by Sonmeister. Level 10+ (suggested).
Pints and Quarts Tavern by Sonmeister. Level 15+ (suggested).
Infested Grounds by Sonmeister. Level 15+ (suggested).
Swamp Tower Adventure by Sonmeister. Level 15+ (suggested).

Spiders and Knives by BlackPhi. Adds a little mystery to be solved in Lothering.
Dragon Age Dark Times ACT I by Dark Times Team. Quest is available after completing Broken Tower.
The Bloodworks by Alex Hauser. Quest begins in Denerim.
King Calenhad’s Tomb by dragonagefun. Level 13++ to 17+ (suggested).
Temple Of Vulak by dragonagefun. Level 20++++ (suggested).
Return to Korcari Wilds by Templarioseco. May be incompatible with a lot of other quest mods. Boo.

Quests and Legends by Idomeneas. A huge, sweeping expansion, this quest mod/overhaul adds a companion, new classes and spells, crafting items, some fairly lore-appropriate areas, combat instances, dozens of quests, etc. I’ve never played all the way through the mod, but what I have experienced is enough for me to keep this on my to-do list. (Note: this has since disappeared from the interwebs.)
Quests and Legends - Missing Voice of Valeria by Idomeneas1976. The current version of Q&L is only partially voiced; this workaround restores the the missing voice files (culled from from an earlier version).

A useful thing , maybe

Open All Areas by Noob766. A console script for making closed areas of the map accessible, allowing potentially buggy mod-added quests to be played post-Archdemon without the risk of breaking the OC. Recommended use is on post-game saves only, as it is offered with the caveat that it may bug incomplete games.

Just some 'notes'

Castle Cousland has a 'play at your own risk' notice on its main page.  I wouldn't play it.

Return to Korcari Wilds is incomplete, but I don't know of any issues with incompatibility.

Quests and Legends has been removed and is no longer available.

I haven't played any of the standalones, but I have played most of the others :D

Dude... this Ancient Elven Ruins mod is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please endorse the mods that you like - the developers appreciate it ;)

Now knowing what you like....

You need to play the other 3 mods that Sonmeister/smundell wrote:

Pints and Quarts (actually has 4 added quests)

Infested Grounds

Swamp Tower Adventure

My other favorites (pure dungeon crawls) are:

Tombs of the Undead

Temple of Vulak

King Calenhad's Tomb (some bugs, but playable - just sell all loot)

There are probably others that I'm not aware of so don't limit yourself to my favorites! :)
