  Are you psyched for ME4?   Or are you going to approach its release with caution reading user reviews before purchasing the game?

  Then, there is the third option, where you're just like me and you were burned by ME3.  If you're like me, you don't care about ME4 in the slightest except for a curiosity as you stand by and observe it but I would never buy another thing from EA ever again.  This is just my personal opinion and I know that its not going to happen but Bioware should go back and fix ME3 (at least a better Priority Earth mission with war assets that matter).

  You know, they say that an improved ME3 isn't going to happen, well then neither is a purchase from me and a number of other disgruntled gamers who are NOT a minority.

Depends. Prequel? No interest. Set protagonist? No interest. Synthesis canon? Little interest, unless they make it interesting by taking it to a dark place. Get beyond those hurdles, which I think is a given, and I'll definitely still end up playing the game. I like the setting and the atmosphere it generates, and there isn't much in the way of science-fiction games on the horizon.

Boycotting EA over ME3 when the previous games in the series had many of the same faults (space magic, railroading, decisions not really factoring into the ending, bends in lore, heavy-handed themes) is misguided, though.

There's not much to be psyched about yet. All we've got are just rumors and some dev tweets, so there's no point in being excited 'till we get a screenshot/trailer/gameplay.

I imagine after the ME3 incident more people will be sceptical with ME4, but if Dragon Age: Inquisition delivers, then it may convince some that after the let-down that DA2 was, BW is still capable of making excellent games.

Regardless, I'll be following ME4-news in the upcoming months, then ultimatley, I'm gonna make a choice about buying it (though no pre-order this time).

The last thing I'm gonna do is read user reviews. I got burned by that with DA2.

Other than that, what dreamgazer said.

Yeah, I am. I still maintain that ME3 was good game, all it's failings aside and I wasn't even bothered by the endings, with EC installed. Sure, I'll be a little pissed if they go with anything else than Destroy as canon ending(in case of sequel), but I'm still interested to see what comes out of it.

And frankly, I'll play foremost to see more of MEU and what new and intriguing characters Bioware comes up with. Story is second fiddle, as far as importance goes for me.

Sure, they are.  Most people no longer give a crap about ME3's downfalls (especially after the EC cleared up many of their issues almost two years ago) and will play a new game if it looks good.  As evidenced by the comments in articles and various parts of this forum, folks are definitely still excited about just revisiting the setting.

Jokes about the ending will always exist, of course, but so will jokes about ME2's daddy issues, the Baby Reaper, and bareboned RPG elements.

After ME3, I'll be watching with a eye towards "Why should I trust you again?  Why should I invest myself in another Mass Effect story?"

So, wait, because a lot of ending haters don't post here anymore, it's all good now?

There is no problem that won't go away if you ignore it long enough, I guess. <_<

Yes, problems and reactionary grievances dissipate with time, and there will be "ending haters" who will still end up playing the game.

Just like die-hard Trekkies still watched Into Darkness after being "burned" by Abrams' reboot.

Just like die-hard Star Wars folks will flock to the theaters for Episode VII after being "burned" by all three (still financially-successful) prequels.

I'm not going to worry about it till I have more information. Right now I'm just looking forward to DAI when it comes out in October.

Every game company, movie producer, writer, etc., creates a bomb. ME3 wasn't that bad of a bomb until the ending. It's what happens when your main antagonists are tens of thousands of 2 km tall invincible metal monsters that have wiped the galaxy clean about 20000 times and have gotten stronger each time. There's no way to end it without a super weapon, DEM, or something stupid.

This, however is typical of video game trilogies. I'd like to see something more grounded, but I see posts on the board "what can outdo the reapers?" It's like the next enemy has to be more powerful than the reapers. I hope Bioware ignores those requests.

A main hero through three or more games in the MEU wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Look at Sam Fisher in the Splinter Cell series. Male and female versions with RP. However, I think that they should make each game self-contained and not carry choices from one to the next.

As someone who loves the MEU, I'm always excited for new Mass Effect stuff. But . . . the longer Bioware hold off on releasing any info, the more I find myself not giving a crap.

They're not going to release anything until about 3 months after DA:I. Right now the hype is DA:I. Stop it.

Yep. I had a lot of fun playing ME3, flaws and all. I'm eager to play another game in that universe.

Jokes from people who have a poor understand of what makes stories and games work, apparently.

It's truly astounding how many people think that all it takes to make a good character is to give them a few quirky qualities, have them show up and say witty things. Yes that's overwhelmingly what posters on this forum seem to think.

'Psyched'? No. I'm not chomping at the bit when it comes to playing ME4 ASAP.

Excited? At times. It comes and goes. It has to do with how I theorize and guess about the story of the series. Lately, I've also been excited when thinking about potential game mechanics and locations.

Interested? Almost always. It may go away for a few days to a week or so, but I quickly come back to being interested in whatever Mass Effect news is coming.

Attentive? Always.

~~~
With ME1, I just borrowed a copy from my cousin. Loved it. Not my favorite game ever, but in the top tier. Wasn't a huge fan of Bioware before this, but I played KOTOR and liked it, and played Jade Empire and kinda liked it.
Bought again for 360 and PC, discounted normal editions.
With ME2, that was the peak of my hype-feeling for Bioware games. I scoured over every bit of information I could get my hands on for months. I was interested, I was excited, I was psyched. And while ME2 slightly disappointed in a few ways, I easily gave it at least a 8-9/10 in my mind.
Pre-ordered for 360 Collector's Edition. Later bought discounted PC version.
With ME3, I was just more casual about it. I wanted it. I was going to buy it. And it was going to be Collector's Edition. They had me hooked already, and any information I got about the game was more of a bonus. So while not psyched exactly, I was definitely excited about the game and very interested.
Pre-ordered for 360 Collector's Edition. Later bought discounted PC version.
With this game... I'm neither psyched or excited at most times, at least until we get more information. But I'm still interested.
Current standing is that I'll play it at some point.
Optimistically - It'll blow me away with what the game is about, and I won't be able to stop myself from pre-ordering a Collector's Edition for PC/Digital.
Realistically - I'm mostly keeping myself from doing something so big, and may just buy a digital copy around launch time (no preorders).
Pessimistically - I'm prepared to not be happy with what I see, and instead buying it at 50%+ off sometime months after the game is released.
The fact that I'm even thinking in terms of optimism/realism/pessimism shows that my view of the series has changed, but at the same time the fact that I maintain positive viewpoints also says something imo.
Curious about it but not planning on purchasing until I watch part of a playthrough on YouTube. Just don't trust BioWare after ME3.
Yep, very excited. I'd say this time next year I'll be much more so, since we'll have much more concrete information by then. But DA:Inquisition looks like it will tide me over nicely.  (And Witcher 3, and my backlog of games...)
If the races didn't care for whatever species we were, we'd be able to play more species.
