That's EXACTLY what happens. Furthermore the next cycle ONLY wins if they do what the Starchild tells them to do. Liara literally tells them "Don't do what we did, use the darn Starchild's machine!".

They will, I watched DA:O stuff when I was waiting for DAII release date. Heck many people are posting in DA:O and DAII Vids about DA:I and even replaying the games as they wait.

Fans playing ME3 again while waiting for ME4 is something Bioware should try and actively persuade fans not to do as they don't need millions of fans reliving how much they hated ME3's ending. Especially since it will also remind them of the promises, "15 endings!" or "Choices Matter!", that never came to pass.

Tell that to the millions that still hate it. They may have moved on but the reality is that they STILL don't like the ME3 Endings and Fans STILL talk about how bad the ME3 ends are even to this very day.

ME3's ending is a HUGE reason why the hype for ME4 is extremely low compared to ME3 before its release. Many are simply waiting to see what happens, they aren't giving Bioware the benefit of the doubt in regards to ME4 like they did with ME3 because of how badly received ME3's endings still are.

Or maybe the hype is extremely low because we know almost nothing about the game and it probably won't be out for another 2 years ?

It's sort of strange to me how people insist that the Crucible is somehow of the Catalyst's making, despite the fact that the Catalyst tried to eradicate its plans time and time again, and the reapers try to destroy the Crucible itself over earth, and will succeed in doing so if Shepard dawdles for too long.

'Psyched'? No. I'm not chomping at the bit when it comes to playing ME4 ASAP.

Excited? At times. It comes and goes. It has to do with how I theorize and guess about the story of the series. Lately, I've also been excited when thinking about potential game mechanics and locations.

Interested? Almost always. It may go away for a few days to a week or so, but I quickly come back to being interested in whatever Mass Effect news is coming.

Attentive? Always.

~~~
With ME1, I just borrowed a copy from my cousin. Loved it. Not my favorite game ever, but in the top tier. Wasn't a huge fan of Bioware before this, but I played KOTOR and liked it, and played Jade Empire and kinda liked it.
Bought again for 360 and PC, discounted normal editions.
With ME2, that was the peak of my hype-feeling for Bioware games. I scoured over every bit of information I could get my hands on for months. I was interested, I was excited, I was psyched. And while ME2 slightly disappointed in a few ways, I easily gave it at least a 8-9/10 in my mind.
Pre-ordered for 360 Collector's Edition. Later bought discounted PC version.
With ME3, I was just more casual about it. I wanted it. I was going to buy it. And it was going to be Collector's Edition. They had me hooked already, and any information I got about the game was more of a bonus. So while not psyched exactly, I was definitely excited about the game and very interested.
Pre-ordered for 360 Collector's Edition. Later bought discounted PC version.
With this game... I'm neither psyched or excited at most times, at least until we get more information. But I'm still interested.
Current standing is that I'll play it at some point.
Optimistically - It'll blow me away with what the game is about, and I won't be able to stop myself from pre-ordering a Collector's Edition for PC/Digital.
Realistically - I'm mostly keeping myself from doing something so big, and may just buy a digital copy around launch time (no preorders).
Pessimistically - I'm prepared to not be happy with what I see, and instead buying it at 50%+ off sometime months after the game is released.
The fact that I'm even thinking in terms of optimism/realism/pessimism shows that my view of the series has changed, but at the same time the fact that I maintain positive viewpoints also says something imo.
Are you an Elcor?
I suppose this is what I get for bothering to contribute to this discussion.
I hope I didn't offend you.  This is truly how I feel, and these are genuine concerns I have for the franchise going forward.
Mass Effect is my all time favourite series so yes I am looking forward to Mass Effect 4 more than any other game. ME3 was a good game to me, 1st play through I was disappointed with the ending but the extended cut fixed that.
I'm looking forward to it, but honestly, that tiny teaser we saw of a Krogan at E3 was not enough to get me psyched. I am a little worried about what the game is going to be about as well, so I'm waiting for more information before anything.
Is it weird that I am more excited for the Master Chief Collection more than any game that has been announced (including ME4)?
Slightly confused by those of you who are so thoroughly unexcited for ME4, and yet you still hang out in these parts of the forums. Face it, you're all going to buy ME4 when it comes out. You can tell yourself you're going to approach it with the utmost "caution" (whatever that means), but just watch, the game will probably begin with an utterly stunning cutscene and introduction, and you are going to get chills down your spine, and the rest of the game is going to be so wonderfully entertaining that you will regret having informed the entire world for the past several years of how "dead" ME is for you  :lol:
Saying people are still complaining about ME3 is proof that they'll buy MeNext makes as much sense as saying "We're going to protect you from synthetics by building synthetics to kill you before you can build synthetics that will kill you"
And I think that if all the options are repulsive, then the choice ceases to matter.  It doesn't matter what color flashes across the screen when you're left going "Well that sure sucked"
Oh, please. As you've said on multiple occasions, you would always pick Destroy. You want me to start dropping in links? You've got a strong and consistent preference. Don't pretend you don't.
Well, I am not excited for ME4/next, whatever it's going to be named and the reason I still frequent these forums is mostly because I like the current trilogy and just seeing other people being still excited about it. Then again, the trilogy isn't 'dead' to me as others may have proclaimed, I was mostly disappointed by the ME3 ending but that's been solved more or less thanks to the mehem mod.
I'm in that very small minority that wants to see Shepard back, but as time goes, who knows, the next ME might be so awesome that I won't mind Shepard not being in it.
I don't see that happening though.
I've also said I find Destroy to be the "least bad"  That doesn't make it good, just the best of a pretty horrible lot.
I can absolutely pick Destroy , and afterwards go "well that sure sucked"
Edit:  Though I'd rather pick and ending that doesn't inspire that feeling in the first place.
i'll wait and see what comes of this next game. But definitely not excited or hyped for it. Really needs more information to filter out about it first.
Super MAC has even greater narrative control over ME4 than he had over ME3. BioWare Montreal, which was responsible for Multiplayer and Omega - arguably the weakest of ME3's DLCs - helms the project. Many of the series strongest writers have left BioWare, like Chris L'Etoile and John Dombrow.
How can I feel excited for this game? BioWare is barely a shadow of what they used to be.
I want to believe that BioWare Montreal can pull up their big boy pants and deliver something truly extraordinary that might bring this franchise back from an otherwise impending doom. I want to believe that Super MAC has learned from his terrible mistakes and can actually to a decent job for once. I want to believe that the writers that remain with the company can live up to the standards set by ex-writers like Chris L'Etoile and John Dombrow.
I want to believe, but I can't.
Because I don't believe in miracles.
The fact that people care enough to continue their 'i hate ME/Bioware because the ending was so bad' diatribe on message boards two years after the game says to me that deep down they are very passionate about the ME universe. Otherwise, don't you think these people would have found better things to do by now? To me, as mean as it might sound, it's either that, or people just spend their free time poorly and they need to reevaluate their perspective on gaming (and I prefer to not believe it's the latter).
Hate it all you want, but IMO if you care enough about Bioware to still be posting on these forums all the time, I'll be extremely surprised, even impressed, if you don't succumb to the temptation of getting the next ME title and joining the hype...with all of their skepticism of course. And the hype will be there once we near release. Gaming news outlets are already building hype for themselves by covering every little update we've been getting on ME4
p.s. I'd agree with your statement if we were on a more general gaming internet forum like IGN or whatnot, but this is BSN.
Sometimes war doesn't present a 'good' option. Make the most of the opportunities that present themselves. Or do nothing and just die....
You're partly right.  I do care about Bioware.  They've made quality RPGs for over a decade.
But that just makes what was done to the ME-verse that much worse.  Right now I'm more curious than anything else to see how they dig themselves out of the hole they dug.  While waiting for DAI to come out.
Oh, and listening to people say that people like me are either liars or deranged.
Yeah, that's the only real way to end a 100 hour+choice-based narrative.
Wait.   :mellow:
It's one 'realistic' way....
And besides the whole conventional victory where Shep walks away with everything you wanted.....what choice would you have preferred?
Considering MEHEM, I suspect that the desired outcome would simply be a "fixed" ending, where the reapers are simply destroyed no matter what, but the state of the galaxy would simply be determined by what you did prior, so there's no decision chamber, no Catalyst or anything like that. I can't say that I'd really have a problem with this, since Dragon Age: Origins pretty much does the same thing, with choices basically determining the fates of certain characters, including the protagonist, while leaving the world open to do whatever the creators want with little problem in the future. From what I understand, it was uncertain as to whether or not there would be more games down the line in that franchise, but the first game left the possibility wide open without having to go backward in time. Had the series simply ended with ME3 for good, then it wouldn't have made much of a difference, but with this new game, it raises a lot of nagging questions for me.
How can I not be excited? Casey and Mac told me to wait and see! How far are they going to go with this new game?  Can't wait for a new masterpiece like the last 10 minutes of ME3!
Seriously though, I really hope Bioware Montreal will pull this through. I liked Omega and ME3 muliplayer, so I have hope.
