Are you psyched for ME4?   Or are you going to approach its release with caution reading user reviews before purchasing the game?

Then, there is the third option, where you're just like me and you were burned by ME3.  If you're like me, you don't care about ME4 in the slightest except for a curiosity as you stand by and observe it but I would never buy another thing from EA ever again.  This is just my personal opinion and I know that its not going to happen but Bioware should go back and fix ME3 (at least a better Priority Earth mission with war assets that matter).

You know, they say that an improved ME3 isn't going to happen, well then neither is a purchase from me and a number of other disgruntled gamers who are NOT a minority.

I've learned not to get hyped for games because it'll never turn out as good as my imagination and I have a very vivid one. Since I don't consider myself burned by BW and ME3 then I have to say that I am looking forward to it. With all honesty, I think it's high time to let ME3 go already, either buy the next game or don't and move on to other games.

I don't mind experience the aftermath of the Reaper War in seeing devastated worlds being rebuilt and so on, i.e. the plausible stuff. Sealing the ME universe at the point of the ending of ME3 though is terribly restricting and such a waste.

"terribly restricted"? If anything it's too varied....

Which is why a game taking place after the events of ME3 is placing way to much responsibility on the shoulders of a single game.

Hell, if you wanna go that route (just canonizing a single ending/blending them all) they should just go with the low EMS Destroy ending (no Relays) and have us scavenge to survive Walking Dead style in a dystopian galaxy that really has no hope of continuing our civilization/cycle.

This is why I think they should just focus on whatever this new IP is. I guess what's done is done and they're going forward, but my enthusiasm is largely kept at bay by how sealed in the trilogy is.

Hah! They could just write the code on the IP's headstone after that.

A trilogy doesn't encompass a franchise/series imo...

3 more stupid 'talking about our Mass Effect feels'-videos, one halfassed gameplay video and a super cool trailer + vigil's song and all of you 'I'll never buy an EA/BW product again'-people will be like this:

Already there, man... but I was already in that camp to begin with. I watched a DA:I trailer the other day... Sorry, I can't remember which thread it was in, it's somewhere in the DA:I scuttlebutt section. Gotta say I'm impressed with the new engine. I won't deny it. I look forward to the next ME game to see what they do with it.

EDIT: Found the DA:I video.

I would like people to note just how much money Fry has in his hands there.

500 bucks. Sure, that's nowhere near a fortune, but I never have that much cash on me. I'm not a drug dealer.

What if the denominations are different in the future?

Think about this. 12 bucks now is 1 dollar in 1920.

Now go 1000 years into the future where Nixon's bodyless head is president. The man who eliminated the gold standard.

Inflation galore.

People that are hating Mass Effect because of the ending and never ever going to buy a future Mass Effect game are over-reacting.
You guys are making such a fuss about it. From what I know; that was the first mistake Bioware has ever made in the ME franchise.

I am excited about ME4 because I know how awesome the franchise is, despite its ending.

I don't think you'll find anyone who are "hating Mass Effect because of the ending."

They hate the ending. Because from any objective writing standpoint, it's bad. (I could go on, but I'm feeling lazy.) They don't hate Mass Effect because of the ending. They hate the ending because they love Mass Effect.

But the first mistake? Well, there are mistakes in the first game. But none are that major. First major mistake? I refer you to the entirety of the main story arc of ME2.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm excited but I am curious. I am however concerned. The ending of a book, series or game is very important to me. A movie not so much as they're over in less then two hours. After the ending to mass effect 3, those blasted slow motion dream sequences, the forced emotions and Kai Leng I have several concerns. I'll need these concerns put to wrest before I'm willing to consider making a purchase.

First, the ending was far from Mass Effect's first mistake.  It's merely the biggest.

Second we make such a fuss about the ending because we love Mass Effect (despite the missteps) , and hate to see what's been done to the franchise.

Hm...

Psyched? - No, apprehensive would be a better word, because as far as I know, they stick with the people that fucked up ME3 (and royally at that!) and are even proud of that trash (mind you: story trash, not gameplay - the last one is ok...could have gone without the "one button does all" on the computer (I have a lot of buttons on my keyboard, so let me use them, please - after all: It is no limiting controller))

greetings LAX

ps: I would be psyched if they brought back the people from ME1 (writers mostly)...that's not to say that I hate the ME3-Guys, they just went wrong (I think we all know, that they can tell great stories, but maybe ME isn't for those guys?) and didn't have enough common decency to say they are sorry and fix the problem(s)...owning up to ones misstakes is hard work after all (I myself dislike doing it, so I understand - but I still do not like it!)

I'm not sure if that got any better in ME2..

Still, I like the Mass effect universe. If the new game sounds interesting enough I'll buy it.

Given that I spend most of my day trying to figure out what to do next that I havn't tried yet, it might be unavoidable in my case. Since I'm not a fan of throwing myself out of planes or climbing mountains just to die on the way up, I belive the next mass effect game will have a fairly good chance at getting a sale in my case.
Money surely wouldn't be the objection.

If I got convinced that it was a terrible game and that they did something awfully wrong to the IP with the new game, that I don't want to expose myself to, then I might abstain. To avoid getting upset over something stupid.

Yep agree completely, the humongous ending mistake was so gigantian that it overshadowed the shallower cuts.

Personally I'm trying to stay focused on other things, while keeping a beady eye on the info about the new game. Don't want to risk getting attached after the way the last game torched a terrific potential trilogy experience until there's more information on the direction of development travel.

Start well, finish well, they forget the middle.

Shame really.

Frankly - it'll take a lot to get me in the slightest interested in a new Bioware game - becuase I know there's no point investing in it.

So I'll be watching to see what happens, from my Cobra MK3.

Or maybe the hype is extremely low because we know almost nothing about the game and it probably won't be out for another 2 years ?

This is supposed to be one of Bioware's biggest franchises. ME3 had quite a bit of hype long before it was even being teased as fans were looking forward to it after ME2 ended.

That isn't the case with ME4 due to the bad aftertaste ME3 left in the mouths of many fans.

i will get it even if it's a prequel remember kotor that was a prequel and it's one of the best games around.but i don't think mass effect has enough to go off of for a prequel

KotOR was not a prequel. It just took place 4,000 years before the movies in the in-universe timeline. Other than that, the story is not related at all to the story of the 3 movies, and those three abominations that are actually prequels.

Prequels generally suck, in my experience.
