Well, according to this article: http://www.gamesrada...ring-back-mako/
It's supposed to be set (BioWare supposedly "hinted" that it was the case) during the events of the Mass Effect trilogy, as Shepard was doing his/her thing.
If that's indeed the case then I'm officially done with the Mass Effect franchise. But maybe it was just a wrong interpretation by the article's author and maybe that's not the case at all, and maybe it's going to be set quite far in the future, which is what I'm hoping for.
All I know is this; if ME4's events occur at the same time as the Reaper invasion then I'm just done with the franchise and won't touch that "new ME" game with a light-year long stick. I just don't see the actual point in setting the next Mass Effect game as Shepard still desperately tries to get rid of the Reapers when BioWare kept telling us that Shepard's arc was over. Are they going to turn the knife in our wound even more? It's not about Shepard, but we're supposed to just magically forget about a character that we've played as for a good 4+ years (for a lot of us) when in fact we'll know very well that as we play ME4 that "Shepard is still alive somewhere out there"? I don't get it. I just don't.
So yeah... no, not excited about ME4 if indeed it occurs during the trilogy's events, no thanks, "been there done that" as they say. Nope, instead give me a new setting, a fresh start (or rather, restart) and yeah I'll be excited about it.
