KotOR was not a prequel. It just took place 4,000 years before the movies in the in-universe timeline. Other than that, the story is not related at all to the story of the 3 movies, and those three abominations that are actually prequels.

Not at all related? KotOR's a fairly obvious retelling of the first trilogy.

Ahahaha...No. As far as i can see, Mac'n'Cheese, the dynamic duo of train-wreck writing and design are still in charge. With my powers of precognition, i foresee that the game will be a poor 3rd person shooter with no dialogue, cutscenes only, and scoured of all things rpg.Oh, and tacked on multiplayer.Good luck finding any adventure elements either. Yes, thats how much respect i have for the mass effect team now. If the game isn't a total trainwreck i MIGHT get it in a steam sale but paying full price or, gods forbid, preordering? Dream on, EA.

You're giving them too much credit.

If synthesis is incorporated in any way shape or form, i'll be looking elsewhere for my entertainment....................pulling out sutures, removing teeth without any painkillers, etc.

No. It is just another game now, that I might pick up or I might get it in a sale. Looking back at how excited I was for ME2 and 3, I never thought I could be this unenthusiastic.

It all depends: If DA:I is a good game, I'll take a risk and preorder ME IV; but if DA:I is a steaming turd I'll skip it.

Before you say it: yes, I'm aware the games are being developed by two different teams.

I don't know, I dont really care anymore about the series. I just stopped caring about what happens with the new game and now that is is set enduring the shepard lifetime. just makes it sound more stupid.

Nope but thats because Mass Effect  (for me at least) was about Shepard and his crew so I'm not really excited for this new game

Now that it seems that the story will be parallel to Shepard's, it's safe to say that whatever hope I had is dead.

Despite BioWare having an hour to reveal more about this thing at SDCC, I still don't have even close to enough info to gauge my "excitement".

Well, according to this article: http://www.gamesrada...ring-back-mako/

It's supposed to be set (BioWare supposedly "hinted" that it was the case) during the events of the Mass Effect trilogy, as Shepard was doing his/her thing.

If that's indeed the case then I'm officially done with the Mass Effect franchise. But maybe it was just a wrong interpretation by the article's author and maybe that's not the case at all, and maybe it's going to be set quite far in the future, which is what I'm hoping for.

All I know is this; if ME4's events occur at the same time as the Reaper invasion then I'm just done with the franchise and won't touch that "new ME" game with a light-year long stick. I just don't see the actual point in setting the next Mass Effect game as Shepard still desperately tries to get rid of the Reapers when BioWare kept telling us that Shepard's arc was over. Are they going to turn the knife in our wound even more? It's not about Shepard, but we're supposed to just magically forget about a character that we've played as for a good 4+ years (for a lot of us) when in fact we'll know very well that as we play ME4 that "Shepard is still alive somewhere out there"? I don't get it. I just don't.

So yeah... no, not excited about ME4 if indeed it occurs during the trilogy's events, no thanks, "been there done that" as they say. Nope, instead give me a new setting, a fresh start (or rather, restart) and yeah I'll be excited about it.

Well - in my opinion they could make a nice trick with a shepard-parallel story in future ME-Games. First they could take the possibility to put a more "difficult" character in front. Some pirate or so - Han-Solo-Style, e.g. :) ... maybe ex-soldier so he is fit in military fights. Could be someone who knows a lot about the ME-universe... someone who knows aria or the illusive man... maybe :)

Reasons why a human and his rising crew are out there should be easy to find - cause there are lots of credits out there.

And then... while the story moves on he gets deeper and deeper in some "reaper-stuff". Finally they "could" create an end which is a last-minute-arrival in the earth battle... when shepard is already on the citadel and talks to se starchild.

The new guy (of course ;) ) has some stuff to make all what the starchild can do quite... ineffective. Shepard of course walks like the good soldier through one of the doors... and maybe we can save him... or let him die... or "kill" him? :D

Ok, ok... just a little fantasy. On the one hand I think its a pity that Bioware has made the future for the me-universe THAT stupidly hard to find. But who knows... maybe those ideas can be found in the first scripts of the whole ME-plot years ago. Some authors like it... uhm... complicate ;)

Not that excited, because of all the horrible science they implemented into the ME universe

Same here. I'm still gung-ho, but I'll admit my enthusiasm took a blow upon hearing the implied possibility of it taking place within the trilogy's timeline, and another human N7 protagonist aka no playable races.

I understand they couldn't have released much for that panel given its stage in development and DA:I's thunder, but they could've done a better job with what content they chose to reveal in a fashion that is designed to entice the fanbase.

I thought the way they did the E3 teaser was really nice, but the only entirely new (and not obvious, like getting alien squadmates) information revealed this time around made it seem like ME4 isn't as taking as large of a step forward as the fans would desire. Yes, we're getting the mako, another human N7 protagonist, but so what? What have we not seen before will be in this game? I don't mean to be an over-reacting debbie downer, but I do believe this panel was a missed marketing opportunity.

I still think ME4 is gonna be awesome, but they shouldn't have held this panel if the only info they wanted to reveal is stuff that is more likely to douse our expectations than ignite them. LIke they said, the game is years away, they have plenty of time to do another panel later on that's more interesting.

"Doing his/her thing" may just be a weird way of saying "while s/he's still alive". Well, hopefully it is, I don't want more Reaper shenanigans.

EDIT: Most of all, I don't want an ODST/Reach.

And this is why endings should be fixed. It's much easier to deal with them in the future if you want to make more games.

Ooh, you know what would be super fun, if you got to fight secret Cerberus labs again, because Cerberus.

I'm MORE excited than ever after SDCC. I'm glad the events of the next game happen concurrently with Shepards story. This may allow us to see Shepard in cutscenes or off in the distance doing her thing. Cant you imagine it? Depending on Shepards actions... we have possible differing story arcs? Will curing the Genophage affect our new protagonist? How about something as obscure as helping that Hanar on Noveria. Does that small smuggling aside have consequence to other people in the galaxy? The possibilities!

This new protagonist can be a new hero doing things that are just as profound and inspirational as Shepard's actions. She may not save the galaxy, but he/she'll be a hero regardless... or a total shmuck!

Maybe this new hero saves the Citadel during its occupation by Reapers and watches from a monitor or from the distance as Shepard make her RGB choice? Maybe the new protagonist recovers Shepards body in Destroy? <shrug>

Can you see the potential(s)?

So. I'm looking forward to this new game. Absolutely.

And the Mako's back...  Hopefully it's improved by leaps and bounds... TBH, I wasn't much of a fan of either vehicle. I'd rather someone else drive, while I strategize in the back. But, ... it'll please some players to have the Mako back.

I'm not keen on getting my hopes up on potential stuff, because I suspect that this game is going to distance itself as much as it can from whatever is going on in the original trilogy. It's more than likely that the most Shepard-related content we'll get in the game is a passing reference, or maybe just a galactic news network update on something. Of course, this also depends on when in the Shepard timeline that this story even takes place. Of course, I'm an eternal pessimist.

True. This new game could take place entirely while Shepard was dead and being worked on by Cerberus. So... <shrug>

I really want someone in the game to say something like "The Alliance can't seem to make up its mind on what the Mako should look like" or "Why haven't I seen this version before?"
