So... when are we getting some concrete info and a discrete ME4 forum?

Don't know yet, I like RPG's so there is that. If it's a prequel, I won't be quick to buy it.

I really want to know the time period of the game. I want to save myself the disappointment if it is a prequel. Or actually feel hyped if it is a sequel. Really, it's not knowing when the game is going to be set that has me feeling quite anxious.

I'm not keen on getting my hopes up on potential stuff, because I suspect that this game is going to distance itself as much as it can from whatever is going on in the original trilogy. It's more than likely that the most Shepard-related content we'll get in the game is a passing reference, or maybe just a galactic news network update on something. Of course, this also depends on when in the Shepard timeline that this story even takes place. Of course, I'm an eternal pessimist.
Wait, what? I always had you pegged as an optimist.. As a true pessimist, I think you're closer to being a realist ^^
Pessimist is what optimists call realists.
And then there's degrees within all specters. aand this got really of topic
OT: While they remain tight-lipped it's hard to say. The only thing I know is that at this moment (and the past 2 years) I have no desire to revisit the ME universe. I'm highly doubtful ME:Next will change that.

I love the MEU too much not to get ME4. I recognize the faults, but I played ME3 with the extended cut first and so I don't hate the ending as much as some people do. I think after Inquisition becomes a success maybe people will give ME4 a chance.
I'm an Optimist.

I will admit: I am a bit of a sucker, and too curious to just ignore it on principle. I'm quick to poo-poo on things, but first and foremost, I require more scifi RPG's, and there aren't many out there.

Not gonna lie. I am not excited.
If it was a full reboot...maybe. but no. Not excited at all. Hell, I am more excited for Arkham Knight than I am for the next Mass Effect game.
I would suppose the reason for my apparent apathy is that there have been next to no details about mechanics or story that have been shared yet. So how in the world can I be excited about something I know next to nothing about?

That's understandable under any condition, though. I hated hearing about it getting pushed to next year.

As for ME. I know that I will be talking over the latest revealed info, screenshots and so on. Get really excited for every little bit of information that is released, talk my husbands ear of during dinner with the latest news, ha ha he doesn't even look things up anymore, he knows I will tell him all about it.. I really liked the fact that it will focus on exploration, that speaks to me. I like replaying DA:2 but it did suffer from too few settings.
I'm guessing that I have a problem of a different sort. I truly like all my BioWare games and love to spend time talking about them, participate in interesting threads or start them. I have no problem with voicing dislike if there is something that I feel is out of place or flat out wrong. I have spoken at length about the Jacob romance and the treatment of EDI. But when I'm done I leave that topic and focus on the things that, well, gives me joy.
I know that I will spend time online talking and analyzing things in the game. I just don't know if I will be doing that here.
-If there are enough people who post about the things they like as well as the things they dislike I will happily stay here.
-If there are only a few threads with both the good and bad I will stay in those threads and perhaps see if there is some group on the forum that can provide company. Perhaps place a few of those who only post vitrol on ignore.
-If the enthusiastic people and posts are missing completely then there is nothing that will bring me to this forum.
I have a great guild in SWTOR and I was an officer there until the baby. I enjoy spending time with people who makes me have fun, try to inspire others to have fun as well. BSN used to be my guild for ME-things. But if there is no one who is happy about their time spent playing, reading and thinking about ME I will just find a place that suits me better.

I am really looking forward to it! I have yet to play a BioWare game that I didn't enjoy. But at the moment most of the hype goes towards DA:I. We are getting a new gaming rigg at home, whee. I might not have much free time for gaming but it will be a really pretty game when I do.

I can see it being kinda difficult to get too enthusiastic Mako about the game right now Mako because we really haven't seen too much of it yet Mako and we dunno too much about it yet Mako
But speaking for myself Mako, I'm stoked about it Mako Mako Mako.

Bwa ha ha =) well I did also read about the Mako being important for the exploration and that just sounds great. Remember traveling around the galaxy in ME, driving around in the Mako. Some places the sky was so beautiful that you just had to get out and look at it.
And now I want to start a new round of ME =)

Yeah, I have no idea why everybody's getting so excited.
If it weren't for my gaming OCD (journal MUST be empty), I'd avoid the UNC missions altogether.

Most of the UNC missions in ME1 consist of driving around a planet scouring for minerals and metals and shiz that you could just as well find from orbit. You do this all the time on the planets you can't land on. You just scan the planet and you get the item that's on it (like ME3).
If the UNC missions were more like in ME2 I'd be happy to do them. Now it's just driving around on incredibly boring planets with the same structures or tunnels on it. (this is a lie though, I never do any UNC missions in ME2. I used to do some if I accidentally stumbled upon one while scanning planets... but I don't scan anymore. I just give myself a tonne of stuff via gibbed, I've scanned these planets more than enough times
)
The new ME will probably get rid of the boring planets and reuse of tunnels/mines and structures.

Alright, I saw the full SDCC video posted by Bioware.
Not excited just yet, and was initially 'MEHHH' about the info given on Twitter..
But Michael Gamble's words and tone turned me around, at least for now. They speak to concepts that I like to think about for the series. So.. keep it coming...
I just hope that by the end of N7 Day, we have considerably more information. Trailer and title and general summary would be preferred at minimum. I also hope that they're aiming for a 2015 release date and that "years" was only to cover their asses in case the game is pushed back 0.5-1 year.

Short answer: yes, the Mass Effect universe that was set up in ME1 and ME2 is one of the most compelling Sci-Fi universes in gaming today (ignoring, for the moment, the nonsensical Collector-storyline). I'm always curious to see what happens next, be it in games or in comics and books. That doesn't mean I blindly purchase any, but they do compel me to at least have a look.
Long answer: not really, recent releases in the Mass Effect universe have been lacklustre, and some important people behind ME1 and ME2 seem to have left the team. I find the comics uninteresting, and we haven't seen a game in almost two and a half years. More importantly, ME3 had serious problems. Awkward timing and side-quests, a lot less dialogue choice, not to mention the myopic 'Shepard & Friends' focus of it all. In ME1 and ME2 there was a sense of a universe that went on its own merry way with its own conflicts, own interestin stories, and in ME3 the 'Only One Man Can Stop The Reapers' went way too far for my taste. The full-scale Reaper Invasion was a terrible fit for the third-person shooter gameplay of the series. Even most large-scale RTS games cannot pull off a convincing alien invasion without making the aliens seem incompetent to the extreme, which is what happened in ME3. Then there's the DLC controversies. I don't so much mind the Prothean squadmember, but who thought it was acceptable to leave the crucial Leviathan story out of the main game? And then there's Casey 'no A, B, C ending' Hudson.

Boycotting EA over ME3 when the previous games in the series had many of the same faults (space magic, railroading, decisions not really factoring into the ending, bends in lore, heavy-handed themes) is misguided, though.
Yeah, the one thing that none of the other games had is the main protagonist committing suicide because of BS told to them by their enemy.

Nah, the other time BioWare just killed the protagonist for no other reason but to butcher the lore and do a jump in time.
Meanwhile, everybody in the galaxy doesn't seem to think it's a big deal at all that someone dies and somehow is alive again.
"I thought you were dead"
"I got better"
Awesome writing all over the place!

"I thought you were dead"
"I got better"
Given the way Ash/Kaidan over-react by the end of that conversation, I think it's perfectly fitting dialogue.
... In the end, Ash/Kaidan do think it's a big deal, because they're the only ones who can't get over it.
