I'm excited. There's so much potential for this game to be amazing and I have high hopes after seeing what direction the Dragon Age team is taking with DAI. I enjoyed this trilogy despite all its flaws and I'm sure I'll enjoy ME4 and beyond just as much, if not more.
Mass Effect 4: Are you excited or not?

We'll see!
...But probably. Unless it just sounds horrifically dumb, I'm still all for adventuring in a galaxy with turians.
Personally, I'm hoping if it's the same universe, future, they go with Control with the Reapers and everything that comes with them going off to parts unknown, like Cerberus News Network roleplay group did. 'Cause that changes the least about the setting. Certainly that. Not because Control's my favorite Shepard's choice. At all.

ME4 needs take place in distant future so that it steers completely clear of everything the ME1-3 canon effects and avoids having a Dragon Keep type thing to import choices. It needs to be a fresh start in a future without clear answers about the ME3 ending other than it most likely was Destroy, but it wouldn't rule out Control.

I wouldn't say I'm excited, but I'm interested. I'm way more excited for DA:I, and I'm a lot more interested in what Bioware's new IP will be. For all we know this new IP Casey Hudson is working on, could wipe the floor with Mass Effect.

Gosh I will never understand how people would let ME3's ending ruin the entire series for them. Hell yes I am psyched for ME4. I don't care about ME's flaws, they don't outnumber all of the things that made the series so utterly entertaining and memorable for me.
There is no other game out there that is remotely like Mass Effect. The story telling, the gameplay, the beautiful sci fi graphics and landscapes, the customization, the squad mates, the romance, the vibrancy and humor, all of that - it's irreplaceable and ME4 will be the only game in the future where I'll get to have more of it.

I think i have the opposite opinion, DA:I hasn't done anything to compel me and since ME4 is still a open book of possibilities, it gives me a small measure of hope.

At this point I am not. Bioware screwed up the ending to ME3. They attempted to fix it but they still left it still an illogical mess. Nothing about the end fits with what the two games started about the reapers. They stuffed in starbrat with an illogical agenda. We made synthetics to destroy organics so synthetics won't destroy organics. The game was great up until the end. The last 15 minutes of it sunked it into oblivion.
The ending to Mass Effect 3 felt it was ripped from another game idea and it doesn't belong in Mass Effect.s I am hoping the team for Dragon Age 3 doesn't follow the same mistake.

I didn't like the ending but I don't think that summation is quite fair. They have synthetics destroy oganics so synthetics don't destroy ALL organics. There is a difference which allows new forms of life to evolve to a certain point. I still have problems with that, they were the first to do so, that was their choice. Then the Prothean's overcame their synthetic test and hated synthetics and would be much less likely to repeat, surely that could be considered breaking the cycle?
I also thought the synthesis ending was complete whackery. I understand them wanting to make a peaceful outcome, such a thing is desirable. But the way it was done was nonsensical. Still, as you said, the rest of the game of great. The setting is still interesting. I would urge people to forgive them their mistake and check out the next game because there is no other game out there that is the same mix of story and action.

There's plenty out there. Just not a lot that's current.

And none that are sci fi and do it the way Bioware does it. BW has a special recipe for their games that make ME and DA stand out completely from every other sci fi and fantasy RPG game out there.
Also to BW's credit, they have a track record of improving their games based on their fans' feedback. Despite the flaws, BW clearly got alot of things about ME right, enough to make so many of us to play through the entire trilogy multiple times. I have alot of faith in ME4 ![]()

The inventory situation was significantly improved in ME3, though. Not back to ME1 standards, of course, but far better than ME2's.
Thank god it wasn't back to ME1 standards. Though I liked ME2's inventory -- or lack thereof -- just fine. It would have been better if they'd abolished credits and shops, but you take what you can get.

Dunno if abolishing shops and credits would've been a very good thing. You'd basically rely entirely on looting things from missions to get new stuff, and that would suck. Personally I liked ME3's inventory system the best.

Yes.
Why???
Cause I think BioWare is gonna do something EPIC and a bit "Crazy" and ballsy with Mass Effect.
But if not.......
I did love the MP for ME3, not gonna lie. I've played over 150 hours of that bad boy. So.... If the ME4 MP is a bit better and even large and more detailed, then I'll probably buy it.
So... Yes. I'm excited.

I missed out on all the ME3 MP stuff, when Bio had all those bounty weekends, and I haven't really gotten into the MP at all... yet. But I love that it's there. I just hope that Bio continues the idea of not making it integral to the plot.

I guess? It's mostly just a rumor at this point.
I truly hope you can select race and there's no set protagonist like with Shepard. I want the Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age Origins/Inquisition setup where you can choose your race, and get certain bonuses based on it, like Asari gets bonuses to duration and damage and cooldown for all biotic abilities, or Salarians get the best duration and damage and cooldown for tech skills, and Turians get the most weapon damage, and humans are a jack of all trades... Or maybe just like the ME multiplayer where every race gets their own unique classes like how human adepts get a different moveset and bonuses compared to Asari adepts. Either would work for making the races feel distinct gameplay-wise.

Still has a very healthy community on XBL. A few day's ago I was on at like 2 AM or something. Was in full games all night. So.... Jump in. It's still legit.

I'm working my way up to it, Lol. I've been on a trilogy run, and I want to get back into the ME3 feel of combat for awhile before I try it. I just started the final leg of the trilogy, and I'm still re-familiarizing with all the keyboard stuff; ME1 in particular really messes with ya.

I suspect that if they do add playable races, they'd most likely go with the big three of the galaxy, being the humans, turians and asari. The salarians perhaps, but the others, I doubt it.

Indeed. I want playable Quarian, no doubt about it. And since we now know what maskless Quarians look like now, customizing the face of your Quarian character shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, I thought about the quarians, but they can be tricky, depending on what the new game entails. I assume that BioWare would not dispose of either them or the krogan, but you never know what they intend to do with these people.

How about a quarian/geth hybrid where the geth exists as software living in your suit. It'd be like having your own Glyph.

For some reason, I'm imagining the quarian equivalent of Iron Man, with the geth being Jarvis inside the suit.

That works for me, heh. Only "Jarvis" could project himself as a drone if you wanted him to go look for something, or taunt the bad guys.
