Hi,

Does anyone know if the FMOD designer can be reinstalled separately from the toolset?

It was working fine for me, then in the same day, anything I made was "seen" but not heard in the toolset/cutscene editor.

It shows up in the database for me, and the songs can be added to the scenes, but there is no sound. I did nothing different when creating an fsb file. All files build as they should. Another thing I noticed is in the event editor, the song will not be heard. It shows as playing, but no sound at all.

If I use one of my older music files, they play fine in the cutscene.

I plan on reinstalling the toolset later this summer, so hopefully it will fix everything.

Thank you :)

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. I am a little scared to run set-up for the toolset at this time to see what options there are. I remember the database options, but nothing else.

The version included with toolset is version 4.19.00 and is dated 6/24/2008

The oldest version I could find is from 3 years ago...fmoddesigner41503

Will look into this later this week, but I doubt it has anything to do with your Fmod installation. If you try creating an entirely new Fmod project making sure you add all the parameters as mentioned one of the links found in my group as well as making sure the final build is in the correct override folder in your module (plus play sounds should be active in the CS itself) it should work fine. You need to go over everything step by step..as it's very easy to miss one along the way when creating and implementing original sound files.

Also, you can check to see if the sound file was generated by temporarily renaming the fsb file extension to mp3 and previewing in an audio program. whether or not the file can be previewed could help determine whether a toolset readable parameter hasn't been set correctly, or if the sound file itself wasn't built properly.  It's not the proper testing method of course, but could help narrow down the cause of the issue.

Hi,

I would say it is the later. I have the instructions printed out and made sure it was all done correctly. It all worked before.

The last working fsb was my test to see if more than one song could be included. I put 4 songs in the one bank and they all played fine in the toolset/cutscene.

Then I edited one of the songs, made a NEW project and built a new 4-song bank (which had no sound in the toolset/cutscene). FMOD has not worked since then (single wav bank or multiple). I think I broke it. Maybe it is a setting someplace.

I've often overlooked an FMOD setting which caused similar issues for me. It's been many years, but I recall having to look at additional parameters in FMOD in order to get the sound to work properly (even after prior successful builds). Once again I honestly doubt it has anything to do with installation. Perhaps you have set an FMOD template which retained faulty initial/default settings?

I'll try it again today. It just seems weird how it worked all this time, then suddenly stopped building correctly. I'll do more research to see what may have been changed on my end. I may have an idea.

Edited~~~ the wonderful people at FMOD included the correct version 4.19.00 for download here. http://www.fmod.org/browse-designer/

Edited again... the uninstaller on my PC says FMOD Designer is version 4.17.03

~~Edited again~~ Reinstalled the above version,4.19.00...Still no sound in toolset/cutscene. I just put back the original sounds and they work in the module. So I am done.

~Edited~8/5/14 Since this was posted, FMOD has added more builds of the designer to the link above. ^^^^^ :D

Added note: You have the option of replacing wav files in a current build (if you saved your Fmod project) which may work for you. If creating a new build it needs to be uniquely named including the internal hierarchy level iirc. It's good practice to back up the fsb/fev you saved and remove it from your overrides so the new builds will not potentially conflict if they have the same names.

Thank you so much. I found my files and original fsb with the 4 songs in it (the one that worked). Opened it, REPLACED the song I had edited and it all works now!!

:D So, instead of creating a new project, (they were named differently, but something wasn't right someplace) editing the existing GOOD project worked.

I can't thank you enough!! :)

FMOD Designer version,4.19.00 works with the toolset 1.01

All this was for nothing. ^^^ The setting for song placement on the scale in FMOD designer was moved by me to start at 0 and all the songs play.(the songs were moved up on the time scale~~~ Depends where you click when adding songs). I'll stick a screenshot in here later to show what I mean.
