Instead of saying no or yes can't you just get a reason why afterwards?
I personally would like to have them both back but I am unsure on how Bioware could pull it off I see Hawke coming back more since she has a greater chance than the warden.

I don't want them because they won't be my Warden and Hawke. They would have made the same choices, but they wouldn't have the same personality.
What if it was a new game that played as them?

I can see that. As far as the Warden I can see it as either our Warden or the Orlesian Warden.
What are your reasons?
Their stories are done. One story, one hero.
But more so, if they reappear, they won't be my character anymore. And what they say and do, and what may happen to them, will not be under my control at all. ME3 was bad enough.
And i don't want their nice retirements canoned out of existence.
I don't want my Hawke to be betrayed and murdered by an erstwhile ally. I don't want my Warden put into an enchanted sleep so the Archon can feed on his dreams.

If the story calls for them to be in the game as a npc so be it, if it doesnt so be it
In all honesty i dont particularly care what bioware does with either character now, i had my time with both(still do) an still enjoy playing both but as soon as i switch there respective game of there not mine, what i do care about is the choices they made in there respective games, for me the choice, the outcome is more important than the character.
I have more interest in seeing my choices play out in the world of thedas than the individual character responsible for the choices i made him/her do, the repercussions is what brings me back an is what makes me buy the next installment, well also there great games ![]()
No. I never want to play as them again either. A reference to what they are doing is enough. What if it was a new game that played as them?
good point, but if it was a new game that you play as one of them. Would you like to play it?
Sure if it followed the same criteria. But I doubt there is a good reason to do so. The DA franchise isn't about one person changing everything, it's about the right person at the right time making a difference, not the same person every time, but if the right reasons brought us back to playing Hawke I can't say I would opposed.
I don't need to see them or play as them again, but I would like to know where they disappeared to.

I think I will write my own postulate that says any discussion about an RPG will inevitably end in someone bashing ME3.

I wouldn't mind it if it could be done in a way that makes sense,
Hawke is easier to pull off then the Warden, definitely need the ability to customize their appearance etc.
Should the Warden and Hawke make an appearance in an upcoming Dragon Age game?
Personally I think they should. I'm still on the fence weither it be Inquisition or a later title, but I still think these characters have more stories to tell, and would love a sequel to Origins or Dragon Age 2 where we can continue their story.
Personally I wouldn't mind. When DA2 came out I was a bit disappointed that you couldn't play the Warden again. Okay, I was very disappointed. But in the meantime I have changed my opinion. While I agree that these characters have more stories to tell I also appreciate the opportunity to meet new heroes and experience the adventures of someone else.
Furthermore, my main concern is about the face imports. Since BioWare works with a different engine now, I don't know if it would even work. Re-creating the Warden or Hawke so they look the way they did in Origins/DA2 will probably be very hard. And if the new appearance doesn't match the old one I am having a harder time to immerse in the world of the game because I keep thinking: "The nose isn't right. Neither is the mouth". And so on.
Edit: To sum it up, I wouldn't mind if they somehow keep their appearance and if the story is coherent.

Well, Hawke's personality is apparently used as a flag somewhere in save files, given how the "diplomatic/sarcastic/aggressive" thing works in game, so that could be imported. And Warden did not really have that much personality (IMO), as he/she was "mute" during the entire game, and the game itself did not offer that many options to show or shape the character.
And as I wrote in that other topic - http://forum.bioware...ers/?p=16705068
Pretty much this. Unless DA Keep has a "create old character faces" tool, having Warden and/or Hawke in game with different faces would make many people very angry. Even though there are "in universe" methods of changing ones appearance through the Magic Mirror in Shadow Emporium, which both could have used to protect their identities...
This will never happen. Bioware has stated that each game will have a new protagonist. No returning of your previous characters where you (as the player) control them. They will strictly be NPCs that Bioware controls, which may be completely different than how you imagined of played them previously. What if it was a new game that played as them?
Haven't they already been confirmed to be in DAI?
I'm fairly certain that came in a magazine.
No.

Not sure. I haven't seen anything about it. Other than speculation.
I know we can't expect Bioware to respect everyone's headcannon but I feel like it's better to leave them vague and out of future games. Even if we could remake their look and everything it feels like allot of work for someone who isn't your PC and if we can't that's just going to annoy people. As for a future game playing as either of them, nah. I like the new hero thing and it feels like it's been to long to play as either of them again.

Mute doesn't mean someone doesn't have a personality. You may not have given your Warden one, but I did. My warden was a stoic leader who accepted their role as one of the only people who could stop the blight. I portrayed this through the appropriate dialogue choices and even if they weren't voiced they still meant something and had an effect on how others viewed him.
Here it is:
"Morrigan will make an appearance but won't be a party member. The same goes for Hawke and the Warden."

I hope they're obscured visually or rebuilt via character recreation option or not present at all.

Well sure, but most of the personality came from the choices themselves, not the behavior. The choices would be imported, and with those choices, the resulting personality would form (with slight deviations that could be attributed to the time passed, it has been over a decade).
I too would like to see my Warden have his diplomatic behavior with an occasional deadpan snarking (which is how I play most of my characters), but I could live with him being more "serious" as a result of all the stuff he has seen over the years (the morality that would affect his behavior in the game most would come from the imported choices).
That's you man. When I spend hours crafting and playing a character I don't want it all thrown out the window just for the novelty of having them in game. It's the same reason I never want to see Shepard again in the Mass Effect series. If the Warden isn't my warden then why should I care about seeing them at all?Well sure, but most of the personality came from the choices themselves, not the behavior.
