That's you man. When I spend hours crafting and playing a character I don't want it all thrown out the window just for the novelty of having them in game. It's the same reason I never want to see Shepard again in the Mass Effect series. If the Warden isn't my warden then why should I care about seeing them at all?
I guess it comes down to how you get attached to that character. I could not get that much attached to my Warden (I had that problem with any "mute" characters ever since I played the first Mass Effect). He had a personality, sure, but I think that personality was more defined by his decisions, because those were the main things you could control in the game, instead of some personally invented RP back story and personality that may not even be what the character acted like in the game (because of limitations of the game itself).
As I said, I think that choices (major ones and minor ones, like companion stuff, participation in side missions, etc) that character made could create a pretty decent representation of personality along the scales of "Paragon/Renegade". Personal quirks like snarking are much more prone to changing with age and experience than core beliefs formed by big decisions (there are many real world studies on how personality develops and changes), and thus could be easily "pardoned" for (not) existing.
However, I guess we will have to wait and see what options will the Keep bring in regards of our former heroes.
