Hello I'm new to the forums,

I tried searching for this but didn't see a prior post. I was just wondering if we would have any control or limits in character creation reguarding the age of the Inquisitor. I know in DA:O, while not defined, it was pretty obvious the origin stories were writien for a younger character. In Dragon Age 2 it was also obvious that Hawke couldn't have been more than early twenties in the context of the story. I'm just wondering if there would be more freedom for the Inquisitor this time around. I was hoping to go for a battle hardened warrior for my first time through who I was hoping I could have look gruff and in his late 30s or early 40s and actually make since to the plot. Any thoughts on this?

Well normally they try to keep the PC young. But, I always find that the age of the PC can be however you build it. It looks like in DAI your PC has no family to give a sense of age. So, if you put the voice aside your PC can be whatever age you build.

I hope they make where you can make your character appear any age and it makes snese because they dont really specify on age in the story. That would be cool. However, my Inquisitor will probably be young.

I am guessing you will be in your late twenties or early thirties.

The claim I've heard, as In Exile said, is that we will be an "indeterminate" age between twenty and forty.

Otherwise known as the age group of the majority of their players.

Thats actually pretty awesome. I'm 20 myself but I just like the whole idea of going in as a war vet. After having played through the series with two younger characters, taking the nice guy approach, and pretty much knowing most of the lore, I just want to go in with an aura of experience and confidence about my character who knows his way around and isnt treated like some green recruit. Someone whos experienced the hardships of the last ten years and knows what hes doing. By now I know how things work in this world and I'm taking that into account when making my character.

We don't know if the game will actually react to experience.

It still makes me twitch that in both games thus far it was possible to make your character look dramatically older than your nominal "parents".

If this game doesn't have any of that silliness I'll be pleased.  It would also crack me up if someone DOES ask you your age and the options look something like this:

"I'm 16"

"None of your business"

"Actually, I'm 5000 years old and carved out of teak"

And now I've reminded myself of a character from one of my pen and paper games who was um, 13 and kept talking about how "back in his day" they did X or Y and going on and on like a grizzled old veteran until the entire group was just staring at him in blank disbelief.  So if they do anything about how old the Quiz is, I hope they just make a joke of it and move on.

Grizzled vet is only cool if your level corresponds. Level 1 vet makes little sense.

Gameplay does not always equal lore.

Real people don't have levels.
