this is a fair point. there's no need to flood the boards. i'd also like to see less hostility from either side. we can disagree and remain civil, can we not?

Yeah, it's too many, but have you notice that each time one starts it is interrupted by people looking to degrade, debate, deride and derail the conversation.  Maybe if we were allowed to finish a conversation there wouldn't be new threads.

No not when the other sides describes even asking the question as hostile, yes the threads are a little spammy at the moment but that wouldn't be an issue when trolls like Darth or Mordigan invade our threads and troll, attack and belittle.

Used to be on the Bio boards that game related threads on the subject only got locked if people took the bait and got into a flame fest.  Dunno if that's still the case here or not.

Ignore (and report if they are particularly offensive) people who can't be civil and hopefully they learn that they either need to be civil if they want anyone to listen to their opinion or ignore threads about topics that they can't be civil about.

Maybe I'm expecting too much of the interwebz as well though...
