Adding a f/f romance, or especially a m/m, you alienate more potential buyers, than you gain.
Ah, weren't you the one complaining about ME2 not having a f/f romance option some time ago in another thread?
Did you change your tune?

There are other factors as well. Parents do buy these games for their teens and may not be overly joyful to see the f/f scene popping up. Beyond that you are right.....f/f romances do sell mostly to heterosexual men and even these pose risks but m/m romances will never fly.....not when you're digging in the shooter fanbase.
The same amount (and same type) of parents will be upset that there is a black guy that you can romance. You are saying that our society should halt progress and cave in to the lunatic intolerant fringes so we don't offend them?

Yet you have all the achievments from DA:O... A game with a blatent bisexual character and potential gay relationship that was known about all over the internet a month before its' release...... And ya know what?...it sold really well, you are beyond the most ignorant and trolltastic poster I may have ever seen on a forum anywhere in my entire life... no joke.

No, but it will effect sales. And EA is on the cover and BW can't afford and loss of sales of any kind, especially now.
LOL if you know anyone who sees the game and says "you can be gay in this game well im not just gonna not take that path for my character. im just not gonna buy it because your not limited to being a heterosexual" PLz tell me

My PERSONAL opinion has no bearing over what is smart, business wise for EA.

lol my point is that if you play a femshep. what would you rather have as a romance option a F/F or a M/M. all your guyses predictions and !@$% are just random adding a homosexual character or making one already in the game bi wont affect the gameplay at all.
Trust me I KNOW how the football watching shooter fans act. I've been to my fair share of football games and I've met fans from all over the US and I grew up in europe in a soccer fanatic society. Neither of those would ever touch a game that has gay males in it while only 75% of them are drooling over lesbians as the other 25% don't really care about lesbians.

Personally, yes I know of more than a few people who would. Just like despite Bayonetta being a better game, the main charatcer wasn't a man, like dante it sold less than expected.
I'm not giving my personal opinion, but you have to admit alot of gamers are ignoreant and shallow.

I agree with the person who mentioned that a F/F romance (such as the one mentioned at the beginning of this thread, which sadly this thread seems to have gotten away from lately) would appeal not only to lesbian/bi women but to straight men as well, and that combination of fans makes up a VERY large majority of gamers. Its quite bad for business to 'not' have that option in the game, I have no doubt that some people will cancel their preorders, and those who didnt preorder will not pick the game up (at least until they can pick it up much cheaper in a few months or so, if at all) because they're intentionally going against the wishes of not a small percentage of their fans, but the VAST MAJORITY of them. It just doesn't make any sense.
Thank you very much my kind sir

The main percentage of gamers wich are 15 year old teenage boys would love the F/F romance and dont give me the itll affect ratings rant because yes it will affect ratings if the F/F is there ratings will go up. also parents know what they are giving there kids dont give me that either

That's what it always is. Those who wish to pretend it's not anyone's prejudice, let alone their own (Of course, THEY'RE not prejudice, just speaking facts) make empty statements like "Just business." "Majority rules."diskoh wrote...

Hm. Jack didn't say she was bi. She said she had a threesome. The two things aren't automatically the same.
Yes, and from her tone and phrasing it seemed she was manipulated into it.
But her overall tone during the conversation, as well as her mentioned of a 'girlfriend' did imply it enough to be a valid thread premis, I think.

This 'bad for business' excuse is garbage. DA:O was one of the top selling games of the year. Your entire argument is debunked in that sentence.
^^This X1000
I keep saying this, and it was news for almsot an ENTIRE month, all over the internet, that there was a bisexual male character and as such a m/m romance option and it sold extremely well, the news about it even had this picture which almost everyone and their dog saw a week before release

The whole argument about "majority marketing" is ridiculous and baseless as was evident with DA:O

Ok...so I can't give my opinion, then be neutral? Wheter ot not I PERSOANLLY want a f/f romance in or not, doesn't make it smart for BW. *scowls* That make sense?!

This is a flawed business model, because while F/F romances may appeal to a significant amount of heterosexual men, it doesn't appeal to heterosexual women; which is exactly the market that Bioware (and every other game developer) is trying to break into.
Why do you think Bioware gave FemShep 3 male romances this time (including one that was specifically tailored for women)? And, why do you think there is no Asari romance?
It's because Bioware is trying to appeal to female gamers. A lot of female gamers were pissed that in ME1, they only had one male LI, while males got 2 female LI..

Haven't looked into Jack much. I was more interested in the status of returning characters. I'll find out what Jack has to say for herself soon enough.

God dammit. Now I'm back trying to decide!!! >.< In ME1 you had boring Ashley and boring Liara. Now all the LI's are too damn interesting! You got *spoiler* Tali, who I thought was more interesting in ME1, Jack because...well, that. And I got a thing for tattoo's. Don't judge me. And of course Miranda for her bewbs. O.O
