This is a flawed business model, because while F/F romances may appeal to a significant amount of heterosexual men, it doesn't appeal to heterosexual women; which is exactly the market that Bioware (and every other game developer) is trying to break into.

Why do you think Bioware gave FemShep 3 male romances this time (including one that was specifically tailored for women)?  And, why do you think there is no Asari romance?

It's because Bioware is trying to appeal to female gamers.  A lot of female gamers were pissed that in ME1, they only had one male LI, while males got 2 female LI..

again, obvious BS excuse... If they wanted to appeal to the female gamer they would have shown femshep vids and trailers, half the chicks just a couple days ago didn't even KNOW that there was a female option... Your points are getting damn near the bottom of the barrel in terms of logic

Sounds like what the Tali and Garrus fans did.

And Lo and Behold, they seem to be some of the happiest and most content people about the new game right now. For some odd reason...

I think the problem with that logic is that there apparrently doesn't seem to be the same fear/outrage against hetero interspecies romance as there is against any kind of same sex romance.  I wonder if BioWare could get away with featuring a romance-able chimp in one of their games as long it was a M/F configuration?

Anyway, I don't know if external influence was a contributing factor to same sex romances not being included in ME2, but I doubt if you'd ever hear that presented as a reason if it was.

Given the previous history of at least a semblance of a same sex romance option for either sex in the majority of their past RPGs, I gotta think they would have seen alot of this kind of reaction coming, the ensuing flood of threads for and against, and inevitable heated discussion, trolling and flaming there in.

Bullcrap. Apparently you've missed all the posts prefaced with "I'm a heterosexual female, but I support same sex romance..." Because there have been at least a dozen of them in these threads.

Except that same gender romance will never happen again. They are showing off ME2 in fromnt of 35 million football watching, beer drinking, shooter fans THIS sunday. That's right 35 million. Tali and Garrus heterosexual romances don't interfere with them liking the game while gay romances would make them flame it to death to all their friends and drive the sales into the dirt....literally. At this point it doesn't matter if they cry a thousand times louder than talimancers.....it just won't happen. The GTA IV DLC has proven how well  anything related to something gay fllies with shooter fans.....like lead baloons.

You mean the GTA IV DLC that has sold over 1,185,000 retail copies? That DLC?

I agree with the person who mentioned that a F/F romance (such as the one mentioned at the beginning of this thread, which sadly this thread seems to have gotten away from lately) would appeal not only to lesbian/bi women but to straight men as well, and that combination of fans makes up a VERY large majority of gamers.

I doubt a women who plays this game would care if the had an option to have a F/F LI you act like the women have to have a gay relationship

First of all they shouldn't have it in the first place. But I won't get into that. So I guess GTA should start implementing thing that 15 year old want? And I'm sorry but your brother and his friends are the only 15 year olds in the world.

Of course, you know what appeals to female gamers, Mordigan. You, of all people here. I bet you and Death could teach post-gradiate level Women's Studies and Queer Theory. How fortunate that you are invited to BioWare's internal meetings and know exactly what their thoughts on this are. I bet you've got an account on the internal website. You're so awesome.

I love the last few pages of this thread, every single one of the contrarian arguments have been smashed.

To recap: DA:O sold well despite having gay romance. GTA DLC sold over a million units despite the one troll claiming it didn't sell. The earlier f/f threads were flooded with hetero females expressing support despite the trolls claiming it doesn't appeal to them.

Can't wait to hear what they come up with next to get debunked.

For one it is not illegel for them to have it. if the parents approve of it. i believe it is just as bad as a pg13 movie.

Yeah, and you must have missed the bajillion threads on the old boards with female gamers complaining how they got "shorted."

You just don't get it.  Most people (male and female) aren't opposed to same sex content, AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T INFRINGE ON THEIR CONTENT.

When it does (like what happened in ME), then there are complaints.  And since disk space was a limiting factor in ME2, then same sex content was dropped altogether rather than forcing female gamers to get "shorted" again.

This is surreal and hilarious. There are people in this thread arguing that same-sex romance would be "alienating" in a game where you can hump a lizard from space...

I still don't get your arguement, by adding a F/F romance, you're not gaining any more buyers than you'd lose.

Except that you are incapable of giving your opinion without belittling the people who are in support of the romances.

Ugh. Why am I even reasoning with you?

The one's arguing about how it'd alienate people is kinda dumb. You still won't see it in the game though. Shep just ain't a fruit.

Why don't you and all the other "ShimSheps" go back to circle jerking over Liara and FemShep Image IPB

I guess you won't have to bust out the lotion in ME2 though Image IPB

Just give it up, your barely making an argument anymore... You have nothing to contribute besides blatently wrong information and assumptions.

Name these so called "alternate methods" of attracting female gamers?  Is it the new emphisis on enhanced combat? Or how about the dark structure of the second act that's full of obvious male fanfare like mostly naked SuZe or Mirandas crazy proportions... THAT'S what they've shown almost exclusivly for marketing, most female gamers that never played ME1 probobly look at this game as just another shooter crowd, male oriented title.

The female options for romance are there as a courtesy to the people who have femsheps already, don't dilude yourself into thinking otherwise...
