I'm curious too. On my Blood Mage play through I sided with the Cult and got the epilogue where Andrastians were converting to Kolgrim's religion. So another retcon, or will the decision be honored?

Well devs said that epilogues are only rumors.

I know that. But this is a big one. Andraste's Ashes are Dark Ritual big. If it gets written off I'll be disappointed.

Last night, before I went to bed, I checked the epilogues on the wiki. My ending occured because I apprently I kept Genitivi alive and helped Kolgrim. In this scenario not only is the cult expanding but the dragon comes down from the mountain also. I'm not sure why this only happens with Genitivi alive. I think this is probably the easiest explaination, the cult was providing the dragon and it's young with food so with Haven's population depleted the dragon would be forced to hunt on it's own. Kolgrim would also want to replenish the cult's numbers as well. Seeing as how Fereldan just had a Blight the Chantry and local lords likely wouldn't be able to ingore either event and would have to respond to both the cult and the dragon. Upon doing so they would concievably discover the temple and the urn as well.

I think the only scenario where people forget about Haven is when you destroy the cult but kill Genitivi to keep the location secret.   Certainly a dragon rampaging around and cultists spreading a heretic religion would likely attract the attention of both Chantry and secular rulers.   Cue a mini Exalted March to wipe out the cultists and liberate the holy site.

What people also seem to forget is that whilst you may only have 3 companions with you actually on the mountain, back at camp people talk.    This means that anyone in camp can potentially know about Haven, the location of the Ashes, etc.   So short of killing every single one of them, there is the potential for the story to get out.

It is hard to explain how the ashes went undiscovered for around 1,000 years but presumably the impetus just wasn't there for people to look.  It was thought to be just a pious legend, plus anyone who did find it, never returned or if they did, they did not command sufficient respect or credibility for people to take their story seriously.   For the Hero of Ferelden to find the ashes, bring them back and heal an important noble with them is a pretty big deal.   Even if the Chantry wanted to play it down at the time because they might have been fearful of what else might be discovered up there, eventually someone would take notice.   In fact, if you take back those writings and get them translated, it could be they feel compelled to look into the matter.   However, that might have taken a bit of time.   Hence it not being included in the epilogue.

Also, the Epilogues are meant to be treated as rumors and hearsay for the most part. I'm of the opinion that, especially if you get those writings translated, the Chantry (or somebody) is gonna go looking.

As i said you can kill everyone that saw or knew about temple (no matter of the actions of the player) so you can kill dragon , and cultist and Genitivi (so keep ashes in secret). It is rather logical that warden that killed Genitivi denied rumors that he found ashes and used them to heal arl eamon. In fact only person that saw ashes would be teagan if the warden denied that it would be overkill for that already questionable rumors.

Not to mention that you can finish game with only 1 person necessary that you can't kick out of the party alistair and he can die at 2 different moments.

So, when you're travelling around, your companions never shop for supplies, they never hit up the tavern for a short break, or spend any time talking to anyone who isn't the Warden? Just because by End Game everyone can be dead, doesn't mean that they've never, ever let slip "hey, that Genitivi guy was really on to something, we might have found the Urn in fact."

LoL how your companions can tell anyone about temple if you don't have any companions outside alistair you can spend entire game playing solo and leave only required companion (alistair) in camp every other companion isn't forced outside morrigan and oghren that can be kicked very soon morrigan after lothering and oghren after his quest...
