I'm having another go at a fun run through Origins, featuring a destructionist mage with all DLC goodies. Whether to stick with strict soloing rules or not will be decided at the first point where things get hairy or unfun, like the RtO ogre or Kolgrim. In any case she'll be soloing most of the time and so her shopping list is extremely short. Staff of the Magister Lord, Lifegiver, tomes, perhaps Andruil's and/or Spellward. She'll have around 1000 gold left at the end of Origins, so I'm wondering whether there's anything she should buy in preparation for Awakening and places beyond. Like runes, Felon's Coat or Evon's, perhaps? Generous stacks of potion ingredients?

Also, is there any stuff that should be kept instead of being sold, like balms, bombs, Andraste's Arrows?

Never played Awakening, so I don't know the first thing about it...

I seem to recall certain crafting mats being scarce in DAA... it was either no elfroot, or no deep mushroom. *thinks really hard* Deep mushroom. *remembers not being able to actually MAKE any of those stamina draughts, after getting the recipe* (And by 'no', I mean like... a vendor or two with a stack of 20. That doesn't restock. For the entire campaign. :-/)

tl; dr, you might want to pay Ruck a visit.

if you have armor pieces from... Warden's Keep dlc. you may want to remove them, because you can't use these items. also a blade from star metal i think.

@ TSM: Duly noted. Thanks, that's exactly the kind of thing that I'm looking for!

@ Althix: Yes, I noticed some of those problems with characters who went through Witch Hunt and Amgarrak. I'm planning to remove all items and to wear plain clothes or robes for the final save, just to be on the safe side.

Seem to recall that purchasing a Grand Master Lightning Rune being important; believe that Bodahn may have one in Camp before setting off for Amaranthine.  Also helpful, you may wish to have a Grandmaster Flame Rune, Greater Warmth balm, and a diamond for components; some may be scarce in Awakenings.

Also, I found it helpful to use the merchants in Warden's Keep, switching out gear from followers, and general preparations can be made here.  And a hard save before Awakenings in Camp is a good idea.

Bring over all Master and Grandmaster runes, all that are sold in Awakening are novice.

Unequip Staff of Magister Lord before importing, there's a bug where it doesn't work sometimes if you come in with it equipped.

No replacement for Veshialle,Lifegiver, Spellward. Also Wade's Dragonbone/Skin armor is inferior to Origins version, so you might import the Dragon Armor.

Fatigue is a issue for Awakening armor, so you might bring over Cailan's set as well.Bring over Felon's as well.

I'd also bring over Reaper's and Vestment-there are robes, but not sure any are comparable-maybe Spellminder.

Tomes of course-you can't buy any new tomes

That's all for now.

I agree ^^^Tomes, deep mushroom (Ruck) and elfroot (Dalish camp). I also make sure I have lots of lyrium (Quarter master Circle Tower).

Or I use Innodils Pocket Plane Party Camp by Nikivich, the crow sells it all. WOW..this is now working in Awakening!! With a few tweaks.

I also use Bodahn Tweaks V3 by Dennis Lee to stock the craft items.

Ach je, I'm already in the Fade and Bodahn's special first night offer closed more than an hour ago... I did ponder his two Grandmaster elementals but didn't take them. Okay, so I'm adding GMs and potion ingredients to my shopping list, greater balms and diamonds to 'keepers'.

@ Mike: you just sealed the fate of 'Andraste'. :D  Getting some fire-retardant working clothes was a strong 'maybe', because they are handy for inferno hopping and for the finale of Ser Otto's quest. Now it's a certainty.

Thanks everyone, your tips will come in handy.

Also sell everything you get from Warden's Keep (they don't transfer), and the unlockable DLC items that you get from the start of the campaign, Vestments of the Seer for instance. They are replaced with upgraded versions in Awakening. If you import while wearing only simple clothing, robe, or nothing, you get some warden specific equipment.

Pity that the Keep items don't (keep, that is). I'm rather fond of the Boots of Casting One More Spell. The thing about the unlockable items is especially good to know. The vestments etc. are the raison d'etre for the fun run, I'd no more thought of selling them than Barkspawn's stick... Thanks!

Doesn't this patch take care of that?  DLC Transfer To Awakening Patch by Mad Method

^It does indeed, although personally, I don't use this mod that much, as I replace the Origins gear pretty soon in Awakening and I don't want to bother with toggling the texture overrides. I use it occasionally though when I'm playing as an offensive warrior and/or wearing the Warden Commander Armor breastplaate.

If you are taking Cailan's armour into Awakening, you'll want the Awakening Helmet Fix, else Cailan's Helm will look like the Helm of HIrol's Defense.

I seem to recall hearing that the features of any DLC item you can't import(Soldiers Keep IE) get absorbed into your PC if you bring them into Awakening. Is that the case?

"When using an imported character, some of the DLC (promotional & Warden's Keep) items will not be transferred (excluding Memory Band, Return to Ostagar and The Stone Prisoner (Icon pc only)). However, if you have these items equipped on your character, even though the items themselves disappear, their bonuses and fatigue modifications will be merged into the character's base attributes. (You can end up having character with 30% or more starting fatigue, or +25% Cold Damage & Resistance while naked)."

Looks to be the case, at least on console. I recall reading it was fixed on PC with 1.04.
