Laughing at that being called "multiplayer". Nope. Silly internet.
I also really didn't like the interface. At all. Hoping that it changes prior to release. Looks nice otherwise.

Chop your axe to the ground....people around it are sent flying. Yeah. DA2 combat is back.
At least it fitted with the game, were everything looked cheesy and simple. Here we have something more detailed and serious, and we have all this over the top colorful abilities.
Well, at least it's not far off from being able to knock people back by yelling.
One wrong doesn`t make another wrong right.
personally I think its a bit silly to judge a game off barely 1 minute of footage.
Too little to get a proper impression, and to be honest I'd rather have PC gameplay.
The UI in particular looks just... Bad, it still has that overly square-y/sharp shape that the DA2 interface had but the health bars look worse. The game itself isn't looking all that shabby as far as graphics go, and the gameplay looks fun enough for console but I wanna see the PC gameplay.
I would hope they release a full demo of it later since all the cuts in the video showed that this clearly was edited to make it short, maybe then I could get a better impression. So far all I really want is for that damn UI to change, and if they don't change I friggin' hope they give enough freedom to modders to change it.
Edit: Also, I see Bioware still have issues making fluid, natural animations. smh
Don't know if it's better or worse than knocking enemies with a shoutChop your axe to the ground....people around it are sent flying. Yeah. DA2 combat is back.

The point is, Dragon Age's combat has always put in silly things that defy what we know of a human being's physical abilities, and DA:O had plenty itself. In my opinion, doing it with a weapon looks a great deal better than a motherloving shock wave bursting out of certain enemies. Realistic combat was never really DA's bag. No point in starting now.
the moaning... those.. voices...
Anyhow, this seemed like a bunch of "screenshots" cut together. I'll wait for the continuous demo tomorrow and cast judgement then.

It lessens the seriousnes of the story, when goofy crap like that is possible. And it messes with the lore, in lots of ways. Lets hope he doesn`t accidentally drop that axe in the town square. The powr has to be in the axe, after all. The fellow isn`t a mage.

However one wrong doesnt make everything wrong

Quite right. Most stuff in the game looks pretty damn great.

Except that close to EVERYBODY has magic is TES setting, and the shouts use said magic, while Thedas has people who aren´t supposed to be beyond the average action flick hero doing things that put animes to shame.
And this is starting to feel a lot like the discussions pre DA2. Not a good sign.
The UI looked out of place and ugly. I liked that the portraits were in the upper left but everything else about them aesthetically was bad. Especially the clunky looking giant white font with the enemy name.
The targeting of body parts in some sort of VATS style is great and something I had been hoping they'd do for a while. But the actual combat looked like a complete mess in terms of actually being able to control anything in any semblance of order. It looked like a chaotic hack and slash.
And then it didn't help they show off the tactical camera in a 0.5 second Power Point slide screenshot. Come on.

But being able to knock people down by shouting or stomping the ground doesn't? ![]()

You know what's a really cool trick? Summoning a wolf or a bear out of thin air with Ranger unlocked. Nathaniel, R U A WIZARD? People are keen to pin this solely on DA2, but this is nonsense. Looking through the talents available across the previous games and the expansion, lore was clearly not something being paid attention to nearly as thoroughly as some may like.

Well I said earlier that that was silly too, so...
Is it just nit picking when we assault the UI? Especially when its such a minor feature of the game. To what else there is to show with the UI anyway.
I really wanted to see more in game play, preferably the top down camera mode, the amount of character interaction and the actual slow paced combat (the combat looks more faster paced than DA2, while not bad it does defeat option of strategy), I also want to see how big the zones are (now we know that the zones wont be as open world as, lets say Witcher 3)
While what I have seen so far looks awesome, I still feel there is still so much more left to show and they haven't shown us yet... I may be worrying over nothing but you can understand why I am nervous.

So you are saying that woodcutters are no longer needed in Thedas, because people could just toss their axe into the ground to make trees fly up from the ground instead? And that really adds to the belivability of the setting?
No, what I'm saying is that minor bits of gameplay are being taken too seriously. Just like I don't care about the magical wolf, bear or spider that rangers can summon, I don't really care if the PC can swing an axe like Superman's chopping wood. If it's a matter of how serious a story can be taken because of these details, then the entire series should have been lost in a mire of superhuman shenanigans.
Some of the banter was alright, and then there were the RHAAAAAARGHs.the moaning... those.. voices...

Because there's not much else to scrutinize at the moment.

Yeah, DA:O contained unbelievable things. It's just I'd rather they'd decided to reduce those things, rather than making everything else more like them.

Not really, a UI is supposed to be with us through out the entirity of the game and if we're supposed to look at something we find ugly for the enterity of the experience in an 40+ game, it's kind of a big deal. Plus, atmosphere is an important part of any RPG and a lot of games in general (For me); I'm supposed to immerse myself in the game's world regardless of the floating health bars, random numbers on the air, etc. I was able to do this in DA:O because it looks natural and integrated into something on the world, like menus were on books, the map from the loading screen was one of those maps on paper, etc etc. This just looks like something taken from a cross between egypcian drawings and neon lights and it's really distracting, which is gonna make atmosphere for the game really difficult.
The dragons look bloody fantastic. Arguably better than the Skyrim ones.
What I love about them is that they look more grounded, like an animal that could actually exist. I like DA's dragons in general, but this one actually seems to have weight to its design, like it ran through Phil Tippet studio first.
