Didn't hate it but I didn't love it either! I care more about the story so it doesn't really matter to me!

So you are saying that woodcutters are no longer needed in Thedas, because people could just toss their axe into the ground to make trees fly up from the ground instead? And that really adds to the belivability of the setting?
Believability went out the second my warrior killed a metal golem and giant dragon with an overgrown toothpick.
Believability went out the second my ranger summoned a bear in the deep roads.
Believability went out the second my mage cast a fireball.

Depends on wich metal is harder, doesn`t it?
Summoning never makes sense in any game.
The world of Thedas has magic and dragons. Within that setting the fireball spell is belivable. It is even in the lore. Read the codex.

No, what I'm saying is that minor bits of gameplay are being taken too seriously. Just like I don't care about the magical wolf, bear or spider that rangers can summon, I don't really care if the PC can swing an axe like Superman's chopping wood. If it's a matter of how serious a story can be taken because of these details, then the entire series should have been lost in a mire of superhuman shenanigans.
Thats a skill converted to a gameplay application. He's not really summoning it out of thin air. Someone planting an axe in the ground like that, thats exactly what he's doing.

UI is pretty bad, I agree with TK that it looks far too modern. More like a Mass Effect UI than a Dragon Age UI.
Combat itself was really impressive though, plays just about how I pictured it would with the evasion abilities. You can't spam them so you're better off using them for specific attacks like getting out of the dragon's fire. The crippling mechanics on the Dragon were particularly cool, with the dragon actually becoming immobile and limping, but still displaying considerable weight behind its movement.
Battle chatter was a tad excessive, but I can't help but feel maybe they put it into "Overdrive" for demo purposes, so people like us would get to hear characters like Iron Bull and Sera speaking.

You know what's a really cool trick? Summoning a wolf or a bear out of thin air with Ranger unlocked. Nathaniel, R U A WIZARD? People are keen to pin this solely on DA2, but this is nonsense. Looking through the talents available across the previous games and the expansion, lore was clearly not something being paid attention to nearly as thoroughly as some may like.
Guess which spezialization I never used. I guess you still have a point, as I did use the ninj- er..., shadow one, and that was when we should have realized this particular battle was lost. Problem is, they haven´t managed so far to make those things work within the setting, so it just adds silliness instead of wow factor.

Not really, a UI is supposed to be with us through out the entirity of the game and if we're supposed to look at something we find ugly for the enterity of the experience in an 40+ game, it's kind of a big deal. Plus, atmosphere is an important part of any RPG and a lot of games in general (For me); I'm supposed to immerse myself in the game's world regardless of the floating health bars, random numbers on the air, etc. I was able to do this in DA:O because it looks natural and integrated into something on the world, like menus were on books, the map from the loading screen was one of those maps on paper, etc etc. This just looks like something taken from a cross between egypcian drawings and neon lights and it's really distracting, which is gonna make atmosphere for the game really difficult.
Well I meant only what we can see, we still haven't seen the inventory screen, the map screen, and other such UI features yet... I guess if you want to just touch upon that bit of UI alone then id accept it if no one finds it appealing, but it still just looks like nit picking, especially when the UI covers such a broad scope than just what we see in that video.
Or maybe I'm just nit picking the nit pickers? ![]()

I thought it looked much better in the all access live video. I don't know how, but it did. I like it!

This is going to be inference and nothing but. Based on what little there was, it looks like the game will be much more action-oriented than the previous iterations, (not necessarily a bad thing) and gameplay more like a moba and the more action-oriented mmo's out there. I'm expecting much shorter skill cooldowns, tactical play will be more focused on correctly timing movement and position instead of coordinating skills, and gameplay will be best on a controller instead of keyboard. The segmented health bars might indicate a Dragon's Dogma-style heath system where the healing spells will restore health in a segment but to recover segments one will need to consume health potions. Sub-targeting is available courtesy of Frostbite, and it looks like I will be aiming with my bow on the Inquisitor, Varric and Sera. Please make their aim powerful and don't have them miss too often.

They're a jab at DA:O, where the warcry knocked people over with an upgrade. Which was stupid.

And that's pretty much identical to Mass Effect 3's health bar, minus the shield.

Make any judgement you want, positive or negative. It's none of my business if you buy the game or not either. If you'll pay for my copy?
Sorry, this is just an argument that annoys me. The game isn't free, that means you need to make a judgement before playing.
Of course it's a bit early. Though cancelling your pre-order is never a bad idea, unless you've already paid a deposit or something. Or you really want the collector's edition swag, I guess.
I just find the reasoning used to be unfounded and the negative bias towards Bioware a little nitpicking. That's my opinion on the matter.

They are. The fire was amazing as well imo

Im prob wrong per usual lol but i feel like there trying to bring there IP's closer together in that "ohh you like Mass Effect, well go try Dragon Age" an vice versa by having some things work out the same across board to make ppl feel like there not totally lost jumping from one game to another, when i seen the HP bars its the first thing i thought was mass effect wats left to be seen is if it actually works the same way.
Im totally not against it if it is, could be a good way to introduce ppl who might not have otherwise wanted to try DA but have tried ME to take the leap after seeing some "familiar" details but different setting.
I personally enjoyed watching the combat looks like my sort of thing an cant wait to get in game an try it all out for myself, that dragon fight looked awesome tbh i just wonder if i will be like "i hate the smell of dragon fire in the morning" while playing it

Honestly, I found it worrying. I have a preferred combat style and I didn't see it reflected in the demo. I'm concerned that what I did see makes my preference for a traditional party based, tactical game impossible. Whatever the combat ends up being in the game, I'll wear it because I love the stories and the characters Bioware creates but there is nothing comforting for me here.

Insanely underwhelming, I was really hoping a true gameplay demo to be shown like at PAX but THAT was more eyerolling mundane than I imagined it
Come on Bioware stop being a cocktease and give up the goods
I'd say it's more worrying if that is their showpiece.

Can really give my impression on it because it was just too short. I wish we could've gotten at least a solid 5 minute play through to show the different types of gameplay. Hopefully we'll get a lot more shown in the demo tomorrow.

What I liked
-) It was chaotic.
-) Companions calling each other out during combat
-) The music
What I disliked
-) The UI
-) The instant switch between companions. Maybe I just played to much GTA lately though.
