I find it strange that people are obsessing over the UI so much. Is it really that bad?

And shouldn't the dragon be immune to fire? At 0:43, the player casts a fire spell at it...

My hope is that the final UI is somewhat similar to what was seen at PAX.

If you look past the graphics, there isn't anything substantial going for it. At its foundation, the feeling I get is DA2 repackaged with a more open environment & better visuals. Everything else looks shallow.
Shallow? Hmmmm I guess I thought that the gameplay in DA2 was much more interactive than DAO. The cross class combos required a lot more setup than DAO combos. Heck I remember setting up storm of the century solo on my mage in the next room over and killing entire groups before I ever engaged them in DAO. You combine a more cohesive storyline (DA2 Act 3 never really made sense for me as a mage supporter), a fresh environment with no caves replayed 10x, and some of the combat mechanics from DA2 and I think Bioware might have a hell of a game.
I mentioned it in another thread, but I think that this gameplay isn't continuous which is part of the reason it looks so chaotic. If you look at about second 37-38 right after the front leg is destroyed you can see the middle health bar is the back leg which is at 100% health, but there's a second bar to the right of that at about 33% health. I may be be wrong, but I'd guess that this is the overall health of the dragon. During the different segments of the fight that bar jumps up and down and I think that might give you an idea of about how far into the fight they were during the different segments.

For me it was good to see sum real time combat. They've shown a good deal of the tactical camera and all that in the other trailers--pax and so forth. So, I'm really happy to see the combat from this angle.
I have a feeling the audio was prolly not balanced for whatever reason. It seemed like the music was turned down so you could hear the voices better. I think once we're actually playing--with the controller vibrating everytime the dragon stomps! and the screen shaking--and the audio being balanced, it's gonna be pretty intense.
And I'm sure you're gonna get to switch, or play with the tactical cam cuz they've already said that would be there for you.
I think the party needs sum more fire protection stuffs! Regardless, I can't wait to try my hand at taking down that friggin dragon. Yes! The Loot! The Rep!
I'm gonna be ankle biting that dragon like crazy!

the ability to spew fire i dont think concludes that a dragon is immune to it

Did any of the dragons in dragon age ever were immune to fire?

Viv is very shiny. I don;t understand what's happening there, but...yeah.

I'm also curious about the criticism with the modern look... What does that mean?
In terms of the transitions between characters, no problems there either since we've already had two games with that already. Were people complaining about that with DAO too?
Also no problems with the attacks. Again, there were "unrealistic" attacks in the prior installments...

Glad someone else caught this. This is clearly a patch together video of a much long( or different) fight(or fights). Added, I like how we can now aim at body parts now.

It wasn't continuous gameplay but spliced footage. It was a taste. I think it looked interesting and exciting. Having different body parts on the dragon to attack means the battle is inherently tactical. I get the feeling watching it that companions will be even more engaged and feel like more of a unit than before. In short, I think it looks awesome.
Is it October yet????

I wonder how far into the game before we will have the opportunity to take on a dragon? That location thing said it was the Ferelden Frostbacks.

It said "Ferelden Frostback" as in the species of dragon they were fighting, thats why there was a health bar underneath the text

ah. okay. i wasn't really paying attn to the healthbar. i just glanced up and saw "ferelden frostbacks".
edit: tho i thought it was odd that they'd have the location name in mid battle.
i was really looking at the targeting system...and my party being wiped out...

I was unimpressed with most presentations. Good thing that presentations usually have nothing to do with the games. As for this "gameplay trailer", it showed a montage of various party members rightclicking the dragon's legs. Funny part is that this game isn't played that way. One day I will understand what those marketing guys are thinking.

Like it very much. From what I understand we can also hit it in the wings to keep it from flying.
I'm also looking forward to seeing the PC interface.
Also, I think it's better not to use fire spells against dragons ![]()

My feelings were:
I want to climb it.
I think Dragon's Dogma really spoiled me as far as fighting big dragons and things go, just something awesome about jumping up onto a dragon , making your way to a weak point and stabbing it.

I keep waiting for Bioware to actually make it difficult for me to stick to my decision of not getting DAI at release, but I guess it's not happening. Nothing I've seen gets me excited. I agree with the majority that the UI is ridiculously ugly. The fight did not look that exciting either. It was chaotic but in the end it was a lot of the same. One minute and I was already bored with it. Sera's constant saltos didn't help against that either. They seem to stick with DA2 animations. I've seen several mighty blows as well, or at least in another trailer. All in all a big "meh".
