Starting from the 20th second of the short Mass Effect "4" concept teaser - Casey Hudson states, that their team was asking fans of the Mass Effect universe what they want to see after Mass Effect 3.

 

Casey Hudson says "One of the things we did when we were starting to work on the new Mass Effect game was asking the fans what they want - the fans told us that they wanted to go somewhere new... and to move forward"

 

I think it goes without saying, that the "move forward" phrase means it's going to be a sequel, what is further bolstered by the few concept arts and screenshots that show us characters in N7 armor.

 

What do you guys think?

What's up with the krogan having a lion's roar? It's around 1:08 in the video. I don't recall the krogan ever roaring before...

Well, the pic answers a few questions like:

1) Are there going to be humans in the next ME? -> yes.

2) Is this a prequel? -> unlikely, and definetly not a prequel set in any of the previous cycles (advanced humans present).

3) Is this a spin-off? -> unlikely -> what was more important, than fighting off the Reapers durning Shepard's times? and the devs stated, this game will have no relation to the Reaper crisis.

I'm not going to play any Mass Effect games when ME2 and ME3 are still canon. If they retcon or reboot the entire series I might be interested in trying another Mass Effect game again.

Devs said they don't want any Shepard clones (the "Citadel" DLC says otherwise, lol), so this new protagonist might be just capable of "looting" the N7 armor at some point in the game, but not be obligated to use it.

We don't see anything else of the area. Just the Map and look downward. Nothing else shows us the nature of the area.
