So people didn't choose female (literally the first choice you have to make), because the adds didn't show FemShep?

You gotta be kidding me.

Some people didn't even know FemShep existed, which is hard to believe, but there were incidents of FemShep being non-existent to certain individuals.

Any idea who it is wearing the helmet?

Obviously Conrad.

Femshep is amazing. Hale is an awesome VA. Right now I'm playing ME2 (probably for like the 20th time, lol. amazing game) with femshep, widow infiltrator. Hale is awesome.

FemShep FTW!!!

. But yeah, I strongly doubt they're going headlong into canonizing green.

Given that it is probably the least popular of the original endings by far, I think they'd have to be crazy to roll with a sole canon Synthesis sequel. The announcement would probably be largely be met with fan rage.

You mean those people that consistently chose 'John Shepard' instead of 'Enter new ID'?

These people have to be accomodated?

Really?

Default Sheploo is better than 99.9% of all customs.

Of course that doesn't excuse not knowing that Fem Shep exists.

Non-existent? It is not possible to start any Mass Effect game without facing the choice to use either a male or female character. Are people clicking the first option they see without even reading the other items on the menu?

It is true though, some players didn't even know. It's a hard claim to prove, but they do happen.

I think what disappointed me most was actually seeing N7 on space guy.

Just getting sick and exhausted from the over-exposure to the logo, Bioware has managed to take a cool icon and make it boring.

But really, after the hearing that Bioware had asked fans at another convention about "What does N7 mean to you" I am not surprised.

How does that even work? Stupidity I could understand. But I can't understand how a player can read one menu item but not the other three.

Well, it is possible to not get the choice. Your first choice is playing as 'John Shepard' or 'Enter new ID'. That these people never bothered to choose the second option worries me, in a way.

Lol that galaxy map was so much cooler than we got

Nevermind how "cool" biotics looked and the fact that it could destroy some of the environment in combat... That was never added in the end :(

Yeah, going with "new galaxy" and "sequel". Maybe some lore issues for choice sticklers, otherwise a way to circumnavigate ending choices and give fans a new template to work with.

I'm happy to explore wherever, but as I've said elsewhere I find the "ark(or whateer) sent to new galaxy detached from the milky way" concept to be tremendously less appealing, interesting, and consequential to "canonised ending, direct sequel in milky way". I find the idea of meeting new, space faring races in our own galaxy that remained out of contact from citadel space during the Reaper War to have far more interesting implications and potential than simply meeting new faces in another world detached from our own.

But whatever, I'm still going to enjoy the **** out of it.

Thanks to Frostbite 3 we will hopefully be getting plenty of that in the new game.

That's only in the first game, in the other two games you are clearly shown that you can play as a woman.

Male customs, anyway. If I want to send the cro magnon into space, I don't need to look any further than ME's character creator. It's easier to make a good looking female character overall.

If you promote the dude to hell and back and not once a mention of female (not even a trailer), then yes, that can happen. Most people think that you can only play a dudebro.... there were many people who didn't know fShep existed, thanks to the sh!load of dude material.

I f#cking hope they will promote the female protagonist the same equal way they promote the dude in the new ME.

You realize that this is impossible right? The Xbox 360 is based on an entirely different CPU architecture than the Xbox One. The only way to make it backwards compatible would be to literally put the CPU, GPU, NB, SB, RAM, and DVD Drive from a Xbox 360 inside the Xbox One. We may eventually get computers powerful enough to emulate 360 games in realtime, but thats a long way off.

It's not impossible.

Well, at least they moved in the right direction with ME3, both in marketing and product packaging, and that's aside from fixing the options in the main menu since ME2.

In any case, I think BioWare's come a long way since the silly ads of ME1 and DA:O.

Yeah, only one trailer with female and the cover on the back (not on front). Still the dude got more attention with many in-game trailers... fShepard should've gotten the most attention in ME3. -_-

And don't get me started on this stupid 'beauty contest'.

Hopefully they'll give the new protagonist a facemodel and will be recognizable just like the dude. And get playable races. :D

Yeah, I agree about the face model. It's too bad that BioWare couldn't be bothered to do this at the start of the trilogy for both genders, making nonsense like a "beauty contest" unnecessary.

I think that's more a fault of those people being more than a little bit stupid than because of the marketing.

Or let me put it differently: if they can't find out by themselves they can create a FemShep (for which you only need to press 'Enter new ID'), then I really doubt they would've done so had they known it was possible. They literally have to play John Shepard the Soldier every game again, and again, and again to not be able to see you can make a FemShep.

These people also never saw other backgrounds than Sole Survivor and Earthborn btw.

I have the suspicion that the more casual players that don't bother to peruse the menu options are unlikely to have repeat playthroughs, assuming that they actually completed the campaign in the first place.
