If I hear about Cerberus, at all, in the new game, I will punch a hole through my wall.

They'll introduce a new organization, called Gwyllgi, named for some other obscure mythical hellhound. Their greatest weapon is in their name, because no one takes it seriously.

Terra Firma and the remnants of Cerberus are gonna merge in the aftermath of the Reaper invasion, mentioned just to bunch your panties.

I'm actually quie troubled by the idea of Cerberus coming back in some variant. Mac Walters is still writing for the game and Cerberus it's kind of his creation in the way it developed after the first ME.

Add to this TIM words about Cerberus being an ideal rather than an organization......ok I have chills on my back now....please nooo

The advancement of humans through activist organizations has always been a thing in the MEU, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it persevere in one form or another in MEWhatever.  Just ... not in the form of the Cerberus that got wildly buffed in ME2, and (predictably) shot themselves in the foot with indoctrination in ME3.

I'd like to see a human equivalent of STG that isn't recklessly led down the path to mooksville.

I think the corsairs are an asari commando/STG equivalent. But I hope the next game is a bit less human-centric (no cerberus 2.0 etc.)

Aaron Flynn confirmed it's a Krogan in the trailer. When asked if the games narrative is before or after Shepard, he said he can't say at the moment but they have a "pretty cool idea on how they're going to keep the trilogy story separate."

Nothing says prequel or sequel to me. Imo it seems like an alternate universe.

I sure hope so. Alternate universe would be best.

Good luck with that, now that the humanity is the strongest political player in the galaxy.

Earth had the highest reapers presence...and it was the first Council world hit. Sur'Kesh is under siege after Cerberus HQ, and Thessia also spends a lot less time occupied than Earth. It wouldn't make any sense if humanity suddenly comes out on top, and I don't think it would be very interesting either.

More than likely, years after the war is over with, humanity will be at about the level they were before, with only the salarians, turians and asari edging them out, while they are on top of everyone else. I don't see the hanar, volus, elcor or krogan really getting close to them. Forget about the batarians.

From my perspective, "N7" has taken on a life of its own as a way of expressing collective fandom for the series, more than it represents Shepard directly since there are so many different versions of Shepard. Also, the N7 moniker has taken on even more of a different meaning following ME3's MP.   It's become about collective forces, not reverence for one man or woman.

"N7" is to Shepard and Mass Effect as "Jedi" is to Luke Skywalker and Star Wars.

The Corsairs were an Alliance organization that are basically Marines who operate independently of the Alliance

In so many words, yeah, kinda. It includes all involved with the order, and isn't really isolated to the particular (lead) character.

Here's the first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word "Jedi":

I don't imagine anyone coming out "on top". Everyone will be completely drained after the Reaper war, and I'd like to think the final push on Earth established a stronger comradery between the council races (including humanity). Everyone will cooperate to rebuild together, and humanity will have legitimate respect, rather than simply being the new kids on the block. Eventually it'll go back to the way it was, where the asari/turians/salarians evened each other out with their varying strengths/weaknesses, except with humanity also included in the equation.

I chose to interpret the 'move forward' comment as confirmation of a sequel but until someone at Bioware comes out and says the Next Mass Effect takes place after ME3 and says so without being vague nothing is certain.

The Salarians are barely drained at all.

Sur'Kesh was under siege for what seems like less than twenty four hours.

I agree with this.

In games where players have the option of choosing either a male or a female character, the male version is nearly always chosen more often. I don't think it has anything to do with marketing.

So what is the reason? Cultural stereotypes where every lead is a grizzled square jawed white guy?
Having a female lead as the main marketing brand would have made the game standout more.. they could always have had a reversible cover and online trailer for the male.
The players don't need to be told you can play as a guy, it would be there on the option screen underneath the default female option.

Yeah, it would be nice to see.

Plus most of Cerberus's pieces (labs, tech, ex-members, and so on) are there for someone, like the Alliance to use as the groundwork.

Probably just players preferring to play as their own gender first time through.

Assuming the next game takes place a few generations down the road, it would be hilarious to see a bunch of clueless punks that look like Jack running around calling themselves Cerberus in what they consider to be a protest movement.

I think the reason is that most people that play games have an X chromosome and a Y chromosome. They play characters who have both as well. Personally I only play a female when:

I have no other option

I want to try something new.

It's never my first choice. They could market the living hell out of FemShep, but give me the option and 95% of my characters will be male.

Right

again my question "how do I know you are not going to force suicide this character on me again and/or ask me to -imagine- his ultimate fate it because you could not be bothered showing it to me since it was not artistic enough?"

You don't and you won't.

And seriously... you need the to know the ultimate fate of someone who's dead?

yes, also, not a fan of force player character death. Thus, like I am now doing for ALL games I purchase I will wait until I get full spoilers before buying the game IF I like what I hear prior to its release (unless Bioware is kind enough to elucidate like they did with ME2)

N7 is a rank within the Alliance Military.  It is not exclusive to Shepard.  Hell, even James Vega (a.k.a. the biggest bro in space) made it to N7.  That being said, N7 is just as iconic in the Mass Effect series as Shepard himself/herself.

As far as moving forward goes, I think Casey Hudson more or less confirmed it as a sequel.  Many thought and hoped it was a prequel, but I was not one of them.  Everything about the teaser we saw at E3 has me excited for the future.
