I don't see why N7 should imediately mean 'Shepard'. While he is the most famous member of that group, he's not alone there. Kai Leng is an ex-member and Vega is about to become one of them.

Whatever the outcome of an original trilogy - N7 remains. Besides, it's been said ennough times already that Shepard is no more. On a higher levels of Bioware it's been said. PC character of the next ME game is N7? Sure, why not.

N7 really means just "tough dude".

well, while I have zero issues with the protagonist not being Shepard you know as well as I do that Bioware says many things...not all of them being true.

True that.

I am myself really tired of Shepard.

not according to how they marketed it to us, for starters, and secondly, still my choices (inconsequential as they may be) still my preferences in interactions and relationships....thus still my character. That removal of control at the and their imposing a fate they think appropriate "because art" I cannot tolerate nor I will waste my money on in the future so my original question to them stands and so does my overall policy when it comes to ME4.

I can't believe all you guys who take marketing talk seriously.

Even more baffling is how offended you get when marketing talk turns out not to be completely true.

I never had a problem with shep dying; on my first play through I was like 'oh ok, that's fine.. saved the galaxy etc'.
Right up until the breath scene, THEN I was like 'whoooaaa, hang on a second she's alive? But.. what.. how.. who...?!'

The thing to remember about these preview images is that (for xbone / ps4 at least) the game will look nothing like that level of detail.
Gives a general indication of art direction though, which seems fairly consistent.

Although if femN7 ends up with a cleavage window or a miranda / eva special then that really will be a step back.

How Mass Effect was "future medieval"? The only armor that looked like it was based on ancient designs was Javik's.

I'll try to explain through pictures:

Medieval armor:

medieval_fantasy__armour__by_lahirejedi-

N7 classic armor:

N7Armor.png

Notice the hands, the chest and how similar it is with design.

Absolutely nothing to do with the armor of the reveal

The lastest armor falls into the mainstream space armor design, I liked the future medieval armors more. The felt unique and really felt like an armor and nothing else. Now it feels like a space suit from kotor with extra parts everywhere to feel "epic".

There's not exactly too many ways to make armor that doesn't look "medieval".

Not completely true and almost the opposite are two different things. But hey, you are right, and seen I cannot trust Bioware's marketing OR their staff's statements in interviews really I'll just have to wait for press and user reviews AND get full spoilers before shelling the $$$

Whatever floats your boat.

But honestly, you needed ME3 before you started reading press and user reviews? I've been doing that since I started playing game 24 years ago (ok, that's a lie. I couldn't read when I was 3 years old :P But I've had a subscription to a gaming magazine since forever)

for some devs I USED to forego waiting for user and press reviews (namely Bioware pre ME3/DA2, Bungie, Epic Games, Team Ninja amongst others). Now I simply apply the full spoilers + wait for reviews (especially user reviews) policy for all games regardless of the developers.

I can't wrap my head around knowing all the spoilers before ever playing and still enjoying the game.

But if it makes you feel good, go for it.

it does, and it prevents me from wasting $$$ because devs just can't be honest about certain things.

Medieval armor:

That's a very particular medieval armor, I've never seen anything quite like it, could you point me to a site with more info about it, because this is what I found http://lahirejedi.de...rmour-373222010. Regardless, I doubt it was the inspiration for the N7 armor, they don't have that much in common. Mass Effect has none medieval feel to it.

Cerebus, on the other hand, seems to have outfits and uniforms laying around that do have a lot of cleavage showing.  <looks at Miranda and Brooks>

Well, at least when it came to armor they were on point.

The example he posted wasn't even real medieval armor. It's cosplay stuff for Skyrim; meaning it's fantasy armor instead of actual medieval armor.

Sometimes I know all spoilers when I go into a game, but that's more often because I can't get the game at release for whatever reason and simply can't help myself.  I managed to avoid it for ME3 though, and I honestly think it was to my benefit that I could enjoy the ride up until the end when things got weird.

^ This.  While the starting N7 from ME2 curved around a femShep's chest, (as did the armor from ME1,) the heavy armor that you get not too much later averts this entirely.   None of them showed any skin, thankfully.

Cerebus, on the other hand, seems to have outfits and uniforms laying around that do have a lot of cleavage showing.  <looks at Miranda and Brooks>

Just making a rather lame joke about the outfits of such characters as  Miranda, Samara, Jack, Ash's ME3 uniform, etc.  ;)

Mass Effect has none medieval feel to it.

It has compared to the ME4 armor where they feel like astronaughts more than "humans with armors".

I really can't find the words in english to express it as well as I want though. I lack the terminology to do so.

It just feels there is a lot more "Extra". In ME we only had protection for the arms/chest/legs etc and they were all disjointed. Like a medieval armor would be.

In ME4 it is a space suit with some elements or amor here and there.

That's not exclusive to medieval armor, bud. It is simply how segmented armor would look and still be environmentally sealed.

Assuming of course you're referring to the "ringmail" look that was in between armor segments in ME2+3.

I think the reason is that most people that play games have an X chromosome and a Y chromosome. They play characters who have both as well. Personally I only play a female when:

I have no other option

I want to try something new.

It's never my first choice. They could market the living hell out of FemShep, but give me the option and 95% of my characters will be male.

Or 48% of gamers are female. You know, statistics and stuff.

http://www.theesa.co...ESA_EF_2014.pdf

And if you chose to be male, good for you. There's 50% of the population out there who might want to be catered for; you never know - Bioware may end up making even more filthy money by actually targeting them as well. It would make a refreshing change (and also as I have noted before, ties into Bioware's key note speech they made a few months ago).

But hey ho.

Which roughly transaltes to:

Armor with separated parts, without giving too much emphasis on volume reagrding the ennvironmental protection. The armor itself consists only from parts that are useful against attacks from hostiles, like a medieval armor would be like. Its mobility is designed around the same concept as well.

That article you linked doesn't even bother to define what they consider a gamer. For all I know, they figured that someone who plays Scrabble or Patience on their computer once a month is a gamer. (and by a very strict definition, he/she is a gamer, but I think we can both agree that we would not see them as gamers, and those type of gamers would never even be interested in Mass Effect). I'm a little baffled by the way that they don't bother to define this. They'd probably include my mom in there too, who likes to play a game of Mahjong every day. My mom is not a gamer.

All in all, I highly doubt that of that 48% even a tenth would be potentially interested in Mass Effect. And my doubt is reasonable because they don't bother to define what a gamer is. (again, to stress, without a definition someone who plays Scrabble online once a month could be considered a gamer. These kind of gamers will not be interested in Mass Effect, no matter how much you market a female to them)

But I don't want to get into a huge argument here. I'm perfectly fine with marketing a female character. But I do take offense to some of the conclusions taken from the lack of female marketing.

'People didn't know they could make a Femshep'

So, really? Everybody is retarded all of a sudden and forgot how to read and press buttons? If you believe that's the reason FemShep was chosen so little, then your opinion of the human race is even less than my own.

That being said, they should totally market towards females. But I highly doubt this will lead to a large increase in FemSheps being picked.

Unless I've missed the last space war, there are no real space armors. All of the inspiration was taken from armors we had in the past. Combine that with some originality and we have Mass Effect's armor. Combine that with the clothing of the US marines and you have Halo.

While all this is speculatrion is this the vibe I'm getting.
