Well, it's only temporary. And since it involves solo DLC, one could assume the gap between the xbox release and the other platform's shouldn't be too big. Hopefully.
Why can't people enjoy both games?

Why can't people simply enjoy both games?
I did...only the witcher is more of a one time playthough .
Comparing dragon age to final fantasy 12 is odd. Story and atomsphere are completely different, like you said only thing they have in common would be having party members
Story and atmosphere of DA and the Witcher are completely different, too. That's the point.
Having party members dictates the structure of the gameplay. They both feature extensive AI tactical systems, and IZJS forces you to develop into a specialization similar to Dragon Age. In Dragon Age 2 especially, building a party where different roles complement each other is important, as in FF12. The world structure of Inquisition also sounds very similar in scope to FF12.
Meh. I'm still bitter at all JRPGs for not adopting the gambit system.
This wont affect me one bit. Consoles get exclusive time dlc for game all the time, its only a problem and sketchy when it isnt on your console of choice.

Atomsphere is similar in DAI and Witcher. Elves are seen as low class/scum. there are kings castles/ knights/magic/demons. both have a medieval fantasy setting. Will enjoy both games regardless though even if I do lean a bit more towards the Witcher. since I enjoyed the books so much

Besides the elves that's all true of FF12 as well. But I'll concede they aren't completely different.
Anyway, it's not exactly important since it was more of a thought experiment. And I agree about enjoying both games. Derail done.
The way people have gone on about this you'd swear it was the first time in history it happened. Every company messes up, now they either have the neck to try and remedy it or they don't, thankfully between Microsoft and Playstation trying to outdo each other the consumer overall should benefit because they have choice and variety. I suppose people forgot that when Sony first announced the PS3 the damn thing cost 600 over here in Europe retail, pure greed, not to mention the major PSN hack that stole peoples financial information, but they learned that consumers weren't that stupid, that they expected better, and built a great console out of it. Hell even at this E3 alone Sony announced an ungodly amount of exclusive content for Destiny for example, people can even play it pre alpha this Thursday, now am I sitting here sulking over it as an owner of an Xbox? No I'm not because that's the way the industry is.
I think most of us are mature enough to know that if one company saturated the market whether it be Sony or Microsoft it would be bad news, but it's not, we have competition which leads to things like exclusive dlc, skins, missions and more because they are in the business of trying to make money and advertise their product. I don't look at companies like role models or messiahs, I balance what I prefer and go with that as any level head consumer would. I'm sorry I enjoyed something you didn't, and that you feel having to wait a little while longer for something like timed dlc is an affront to human rights.
First of all how is $600 pure greed? Do you think they should give it away for free? Its not like you can buy ten of them for a dollar in China. I'm sorry you're so tight with your money but electronics cost money to build. Maybe you should invent a company that gives it stuff away for free.
Secondly, this might not be the first time it has happened, but it's the first time it has been so obviously blatant. EA went where the money is again. They constantly bang on about how gamers are important to them and yet side with a company who doesnt give a **** about them. This isn't a mistake this is downright robbery. Caring about customers involves not doing the things they dont like and stealing content from a rival company because your marketing team is too stupid to realise fans wont be treated like idiots is bullshit. Level headed consumers wouldn't shrug their shoulders at being stiffed by a company. That's not level headed thats ignorant. I dont particularly care about destiny as I probably wont be playing it. If EA had done it with that game I wouldn't care.
What I do care about is the hypocrisy of EA telling us how they're all about the gamer and then pulling **** like this off. I as a paying customer should have the same chance at playing the DLC as the next guy. I shouldnt have to wait x amount of months because of some boardroom deal.

I'll ignore the ad hominem attack on my perception of what's expensive and just reiterate that where I'm from what with rent and food and bills etc, it is quite the price, more luck to anyone who thinks it isn't. I don't know what to say after that, you either stand against the principal of it or or you accept that that's the way the industry is, you can't just have a problem with one tiny part of it with just one game. Either we have an industry where one company has a monopoly on everything or we have a choice of products which in turn leads to concessions with a view to swaying consumers towards one or another. I feel the problem with people is that they make a product almost like an extension of themselves and so in turn when it doesn't go all their way they feel personally insulted, I don't get that, yes it sucks that folks with PS4's and PCs have to wait a little while longer for dlc but that's the nature of the beast sadly. I'd much prefer to discuss what I'm looking forward to with the actual game than lament this one detail, I didn't think people would get that inflamed by this really. So I'll have to defer to your signature and leave it there my friend, as otherwise I'd only sound like a broken record to you.
Consider Sony is doing the same thing, I don't understand why people are upset unless its at the practice itself and not just EA/BioWare.
Now if you are upset that Microsoft is getting early access to Dragon Age Inquisition DLC and Sony is getting early access to Batman: Arkham Knight (and probably Assassin's Creed: Unity) DLC and won't buy any of those games I believe that is the right decision to try and stop the practice. If you are only not going to buy the game that isn't on your console it won't stop the practice, in fact I am afraid that it would make it continue for it shows that the practice works for you buy the games for the console with exclusive or time released DLC.
I would play (and enjoy) the witcher but I can not play it because it does not let me customize my character. The Witcher hits all the right chords of an RPG...EXCEPT having a CC.
So in short, it is utter trash in my point of view, but at the same time it is an excellent game. Hell, I picked it up (for 5 bucks) just to give the stupid but awesome devs my money.

PS4 is getting exclusive dlc with Batman AK(not timed), Problem is timed dlc happened all the time last gen, both consoles. I think most people don't care or are only slightly annoyed/inconvenience by it, so i doubt its going to stop anytime soon.
But it would show EA that fans aren't happy, but when have they cared about that before?
You're right. Letting them know is better than doing nothing.
Does this really upset people so much? It's just a month. I get that people are upset I just can't really wrap my head around the why.
Truth be told, I thought that this whole BioWare being sweet on Xbox was over when PS3 players got the first Mass Effect. And (while I was a 360 player), I was glad. BioWare games are all story all the time, this IP, even when it comes to DLC, is not-comparable to the rushed DLC missions PlayStation members get from AC. These have choices, decisions that shape the world around you in future games. And the story DLC often add huge (and I mean huge) aspects to the lore. Take Arrival from ME2 for instance, the whole prologue of ME3 was kinda sketchy without it. The new DA Keep may change the former decision problem, but it won't give us the story around those decisions.
And now I'm being told I need to keep my game for longer, need to wait after spoilers get shoved in my face, so a boardroom can make some more money. I get that money is important for a game, we wouldn't get a game made without start-up cash and if it made no money the developer could fold. But I don't think this is the way to do it. Plus, wasn't there this whole thing about "DLC having most value in the first two months after release"? If we don't get the DLC, and are left dry for 3 months, won't PlayStation players trade their copies and move on? Won't that lead to losing money?
I'm just disappointed in this decision, especially because of my fears this will be a trend. And that would be a serious problem.

I do not believe we know how long the DLC will be Xbox exclusive for, it's nowhere on the trailers I believe
Haven't they confirmed there won't be any companions as DLC for DA:I?
We will not have Day One DLC. While I couldn't speak definitively I would bet large sums of money against there being companion DLC, since stuff like that is best served as Day One DLC (due to prerelease hooks that go in as well as the nature of companions being most interesting if available for the whole game).
Agrees with OP, this kind of thing makes me actually not want to buy the game any more.
Do they really think because they are favouring XBOX, anyone is going to be like "oooh let me change to XBOX!"??? Nope.
All it does is alienate excited fans.
HELLO, BIOWARE!!!! YOU ARE ALIENATING YOUR FANS!!!
You're right. Letting them know is better than doing nothing.
Perhaps you could pass it along to them that some of us are unhappy Allan? ![]()
Net result of this move for me is-
1/ Will stick to my decision not to pre-order
2/ As my custom is considered to be less important than an xbone customer and i have to wait an additional 30 days for DLC content i will wait an extra 30 days to buy the game outright
3/ I'm buying a PS4! ![]()
Will make little difference in the end i am sure but my little protest makes me feel better, maybe i will protest cancel my SWTOR sub again? ![]()
On a serious note i totally disagree with all the comments that this is good business sense. At the end of the day you are making a deliberate decision to alienate part of your customer base.
Me: "Hello. I'm in need of your services."
Plumber: "Okay. What do you need and where does it need done?"
Me: "The toilet is backed up. I'm in Bayshore."
Plumber: "****."
Me: "Exactly."
Plumber: "Well yeah, heh, but I mean it looks like I can't get out to you for two weeks."
Me: "Why?"
Plumber: "You're in Bayshore. I give priority service to Oceanview."
Me: "Oh. So like you're all booked up?"
Plumber: "No... But they might call, never know."
Me: "Wait. So you have nothing booked right now?"
Plumber: "Nope. Just waiting on Oceanview to need me."
Me: "Umm. You realize I'm trying to pay for your services right now."
Plumper: "Yeah. But see I give priority service to Oceanview and you're in Bayshore. So..."
A better analogy would probably be more akin to:
City: We want to upgrade our parks
Investor: I can invest in it. The only stipulation is that you upgrade the parks in this list first.
It's important to remember that an influx of cash prerelease that can be used to justify and create post-release content. I don't know the numbers, so I don't know how big of a chunk it'd make in a budget. But I wouldn't be surprised if it also gave DAI additional exposure via the Microsoft press conference that basically opened up E3 today. Depending on how much commitment Microsoft has to have for marketing the game if that helps bring in additional players, the larger install base can also justify further post release content (since the tail innately becomes longer).
I do understand that it's sucky to read this as it comes across as "I'm not as important of a fan." I'm not going to try to tell you you shouldn't feel that way because it's not for me to tell you how you should or shouldn't feel. If you feel strongly enough about it, I won't begrudge you from passing on the game altogether (because I think that's what a responsible consumer should do. I wouldn't even buy it used).
I literally do not know what the DLC will even be at this point, so hopefully as more information comes down people can make better informed decisions and decide whether or not it's significant enough to make any changes to their plan.

It's more likely something that would draw in people that don't follow the game that closely (remember, there's probably a lot more non-hardcore fans than hardcore fans) that will see it associated with Microsoft ads, and it may provide an impetus for someone to choose the Xbox One version if they happen to own both it and the PS4.
But I don't have the numbers, and I certainly have no visibility into Microsoft's business, so I can't really state if this is or is not a good decision. But I'm sorry for those that feel bummed by this. Hopefully that doesn't remain the case with more information.
Cheers.
LoL. Why do you guys always have something to cry about. Take a deep breath. The game looks astonishing, and yet you still find reasons to cry some more. I have both consoles and enjoy Xbox One MUCH MORE than the PS4. You PS4 fan boys can't expect everything to be for PS4. Let the other console users have some fun too.

Well, I appreciate the candor, and hopefully more info will come our way soon, I think I speak for all of us when I say please keep us informed, especially when it comes to the nature (story, costume pack, etc. not necessarily specifics) and length of exclusivity of this "premiere DLC" (premiere is an.... interesting word. I have no idea what to make of it).
Those two things are probably the most crucial pieces of info we need to make an informed decision. Anyway, thanks for what you've already revealed.
