What I do have a problem with is additional paid content that was developed before the game went gold and never was intended to be part of the final game; I'd honestly prefer to just pay $10.00 more for a complete product at launch than having the publisher attempt to sell it to me in pieces.

You're making an assumption that "additional content has been made."

By this metric, however, I'm guessing you're equally upset with Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age: Awakening?

If you mandate that we cannot consider future content during development of the current game, you basically are saying that BioWare has historically being exploitative towards its gamers with all of its games that had content created for it.  You're effectively saying "I never want any sort of DLC or expansion ever."

So what do you think people should do ?  Say "Great move", no matter what is being done ?  As I have said it's probably not going to affect me, but I get why people are upset:   the fact that  you don't like people being upset about it doesn't mean that everyone should agree with all the decisions made by EA/Bioware.

I can't speak for schall_und_rauch, but I think there is room for being frustrated with the situation and at the same time I think there is an art about how the feedback is being presented.

EA already won the title of worst company in the US. The CEO got sacked over it. They should care about any amount of good will they can get. This is not the case where fans get divided over subjective issues ( I like/don't like this character or story line or graphics or combat style). This is a consciously injected divisive element that objectively tells part of the fans that they are less important than others. It is not customer friendly in any way you want to justify it.

I'm a longtime defender of BioWare.  I can't think of a single decisive issue I've ever sided against them on.  Not out of "fanboyism," really, just because I've always felt the game design decisions they've made have been valid and that the gripes people have had with their marketing decisions (awesome button, etc.) weren't really that big of a deal.

This is a big deal.  This is the last thing I learned about the game today.  Everything before it was amazing and I was somehow even more excited for the game.  Now I'm just worried.  Maybe it will just be a week-long delay on an item pack.  But maybe it won't be.  I shouldn't feel worried about a game after the first day of E3.

I was planning on ordering the Collector's Edition, like I always do, but I will not be this time since I will not be getting all of the content that I should be getting.

Talk about stumbling at the finish line.

I'm actually curious as to how DLC will work for DAI.

Since all creatures in the game are supposed to not be auto leveled, does that mean that DLC will have a 'sweet spot' of when you're supposed to do it?

Or maybe it'll be the only autoleveled content in the game.

What makes me upset is that BioWare went out their way to tell us "no more day 1 companion DLC". "The fans don't want it". It's like they were doing us a favor, like they were listening to us.

Well if you're still listening EA/BioWare hear this: the fans don't like timed exclusives.

Since when do Collector's Editions include non-Day 1 story DLC?

Xbox is not getting it for free or pre-ordering (as far as we know right now) so stop acting like you get to decide what extra content outside the main game you "should be getting".

Way to make me panic over nothin' OP. Besides look on the bright side, the Xbox users will now serve as guinea pigs for all future DLC releases so we'll all know whether or not it's worth buying after their extensive playtesting.

Exactly. Let the Xbox users suffer with possible bugs and glitches while we PC users wait patiently while the game gets patched up. I don't mind the extra wait.

PC player here but I am focused on the actual game and its looking great. Not getting upset of the politics of game development. If the game is great yes I will want that DLC but I will also know I am paying extra for something I want for a game I like.

I took their comment to be the Xbox One console users have to wait on patches to fix the bugs while the PC/Sony users will not encounter those bugs because the Xbox One users would have found them because they had the head start.

Other then a day one patch EVERYONE has to wait on patches and just because something is fixed for the Xbox does not mean its fixe for anyone else.

Not to mention he is basing that on "all future DLC" which we already know the only exclusive DLC is the first one and that's for one month.

I guess its not a big deal but its damned annoying. If it goes anything as with other games that has this, don't expect to see DA:I DLC on PC or PS4 for 3-4 months after Xbox users get it. If that, Exclusive DLC is one of the worst things a company can do to their players, due to  the segregation of the fanbase. Instead of a bunch of happy customers, you have the VIP Xbox crowd and the resent that brings. I've seen it before.

But yes, on the bright side, they get drafted as beta testers, Bioware usually doesnt have much issues so it wont be a bittersweet as Bethesda DLC. I remember all the complaining going on by xbox users because of the bugs in Skyrim DLC.

Still it worked. I wanted to get a PS4 but fine, I'll get a Xbox. I hope your happy EA.

It is the first DLC ONLY for one month. ONE DLC ONE MONTH. Not all DLC for 3-4 months. ONE DLC ONE MONTH.

Does this exclude PC too? If so, then I'm slightly upset. You would think after EA admitting to their mistake of making TF exclusive to X1 they wouldn't continue to make the same mistakes. Why would you want to alienate your fanbase? I'm willing to bet timed exclusivity hurts more than anything because people who play on the other platforms will lose interest faster if they don't have extra content to push them forward. That means maybe they would've been willing to buy the DLC if it dropped the same time as Microsoft consoles but a month later might not be willing to pay money. I just don't understand EA's love affair with Microsoft. Who does this benefit? EA and Microsoft. How about thinking about your customers for a change instead of a business first philosophy in everything you do.

"It's just business". Yea, well, it's business that annoys your fanbase and alienates us. They wonder why they have such a bad reputation in the eyes of a lot of gamers. Is it a BIG deal? No but it's damned annoying especially for a fan that wants the same fair treatment to enjoy the same content when it's available.

And where did you hear  this? In the past Exclusive timed DLC has always been a 3-4 month wait between Xbox release and other platforms. If they stopped that half a year nonsense, it'd be great.

Yes you will, its timed which means xbox gets it first but everyone does get it. I don't like it but you won't miss out. Plus its an EA thing so can't really be blamed on Biwoare.

It's just so hypocritical. BioWare/EA said "no day one DLC companions". Now THIS happens. It is repugnant.

It would be hypocritical if they said that and then told everyone "Hey guys, you what we said before? Not so, there is a Day One DLC companion after all."

This, on the other hand, is just timed exclusive content of as-yet unknown nature - as opposed to being Javik the Sequel. It seems unlikely that it will involve a companion (but hey, if it does, then you can accuse them of being hypocritical). My personal opinion of timed exclusive content is "big whoop" - DA:I isn't the only title this has happened on, nor is this the only company to make deals where some content is timed exclusive for a specific platform.

We'll all get access to this mysterious DLC eventually. After all, it doesn't say permanently exclusive to the Xbox One, it says timed exclusive. For all anyone knows, this DLC could be something completely boring like a weapon or an outfit. If the DLC involves some extra quest or a multiplayer map or something like that, then it would be a bit annoying to have to wait a while for access to it, but I personally don't have all that much of a problem with waiting a while.

I have Skyrim, and the time exclusivity didn't bother me all that much as far as that game went because I had lots of stuff to do. None of the quests/content affected the outcome of the main storyline as far as I recall. Look, if we have to pay extra for this mystery DLC and the Xbox One users don't, I think people might have cause for complaints of unfairness. If everyone gets it free and all we have to do is wait a little longer than the Xbox One users, it doesn't really seem like it's worth getting one's knickers in a twist over.

You have a good point. However, having a plot-crucial character developed a long with the other plot-crucial characters and then removed for first-day DLC seems a little OTT. Shale, Javik and Sebastian. I think those arguments are fair to make. They are fab DLC, but I think the main game would be lacking without them. Those ones I irk at, tbh.

Yes, you have companies like Citibank who are literally leaving people homeless and EA gets the 'worst company' award. Not the gaming community's finest hour.

The CEO got sacked over it.

He left year after EA got that award. The reason given was that while he was able to increase its profit, he wasn't able to meet the numbers set for him.

I'm not really bothered about timed exclusives, so long as the content does get released on PC eventually.

What I hope for more is a higher quality of dlc. See FO3/NV for dlc done right.

It takes the game off first day purchase list. Unless it really impresses. After a month, the price may have dropped (happened in two previous cases) too.

That said I still never got around to buying Skyrim.
