In this day and age, most people own more than one console

They do? More than one current-gen console?

Question: Does the X-Box Timed thing also apply to PC users? Or is it just shutting out PS users?

I don't think it's uncommon at all for people to own both Xbox360 and a PS3. DA: I is being released for those consoles, as well as Xbox One and PS4.

Have you actually checked those stats?

No, I can honestly say I have not. I still don't think it's that uncommon, but I'll concede, that is opinion. However, I don't think that invalidates the reasoning behind this move.

Unless, of course, you want to subscribe to the theory that Microsoft is doing so poorly that they set out to monopolize the market on DA: I dlc in hopes that people would be so irate at having to wait a month, they would pull out their credit cards in masses and head out to purchase a Xbox One. That will certainly show Sony! Or that EA hates fans so much they have a separate division especially focused on ways to screw Bioware fans.

Or, one can subscribe to common sense and deduce that in today's market, people own multiple systems and the best way to ensure your system will be the system people buy games for is to offer some incentive.

I have seen this statement a lot in this thread and I don't understand why people keep stating that the dlc is exclusive to the Xbox. It isn't. Dragon Age Inquisition DLC is not exclusive to Microsoft. If you own a PC or a PS3/PS4, you will still get any DLC DA:I offers to Microsoft, you'll just get it a bit later.

Is it fair? Maybe. Maybe not. If you think PS3/PS4 is the way to go because of this reason, then perhaps you should be a more informed consumer, considering Sony partakes in the very same practice.

In this day and age, most people own more than one console and more often than not, the same game is being released on different platforms. I'll wager Sony and Microsoft both bid to have the exclusive and Microsoft won out. What better way to have people who own different platforms to choose which version to buy? Companies that sell video games offer different pre-order bonuses. It's how it goes.

I didn't say it was permanently exclusive, just that it was. maybe if you read posts a bit better you may have got this point. It doesnt matter whether its timed or not the fact is it shouldnt be done. It wasnt done on the last two why are they starting now?

Quite frankly if you want to continue seeing this through rose tinted glasses or not caring thats your business but if you dont care then you have no business on this area of the forum. This is our time to let EA know that we know  exactly what is going on.

Oh, and if you can name another title in which both companies have bid for I'd be impressed because I cant think of any. The bottom line is that Microsoft tried to shaft its customers on numerous occasions and EA have claimed they are "for the gamers" yet their actions dictate otherwise. Its not business its theft.

Every company not just EA and Microsoft need to stop this behavior, for there have been too many exclusives or timed releases for Sony over the years as well.

I'm a long-time Halo nerd who bought up everything Bungie has made since 2001.  But now I'm a second class citizen in their eyes because I am an Xbox user.  OK, fine.  But I'm sick of communities being arbitrarily split by these stupid exclusives.

I refuse to participate in this stupidity.

As an Xbox One user, I will not buy any DLC until it becomes available for PS users.  If it never becomes available for PS users, I will never buy it.  A small gesture to my PS-using Dragon Age comrades, but it's all I can do.

First of all, whether I care or not has no bearing on if I should be allowed to discuss the subject on this forum. This isn't a revolution. Second, if you want to let EA know what is going on, then by all means, start a petition, email them, tweet them, etc. I doubt seriously this thread is going to change their mind. Discouraging active discussions because it doesn't fit in with your convictions on the matter is ridiculous.

As for the last paragraph, while there is talk Titanfall 2 may be cross-platform, Sony tried to get Titanfall, but couldn't. If I am not mistaken, while Destiny is cross-platform, Sony has early access as well as special content that Xbox won't be getting.

Sony has their fingers deep in the pie, the same as Microsoft. How are they different?

We own Xbox 360, PS3, a Wii, and a gaming laptop.

Father's day I'm buying a PS4  as a present for my husband. (self really.....Destiny afterall.....)

Won't be buying a Xbox one in the foreseeable future. Nothing really exclusive to it the husband (or myself) is interested in playing ( I prefer pc).

But I was rather surprised to see that Microsoft *exclusive bit.....considering, isn't the PS4 outselling the XBox?

Any leaks on what the *exclusive content is yet?

*exclusive - only on XBox or just released first on Xbox?

It will come out for the Xbox first, then the PS. How long the wait will be, how many DLC, or what the content will be hasn't been announced as of yet.

MS paid towards TitanFall I believe Sony was approached but wanted nothing to do with it. I think EA got $50 million, which was rubbish compared to what they could have made selling it on the PS3 and PS4 as well.

After TitanFall pretty much became TitanFail, there is a high probability of it going cross-platform. Even to MS money hatting an entire game is VERY expensive.Hence the move onto timed DLC content to try to sway people.

Destiny's Ice White PS4 is probably better than anything :)

You have a good point. However, having a plot-crucial character developed a long with the other plot-crucial characters and then removed for first-day DLC seems a little OTT. Shale, Javik and Sebastian. I think those arguments are fair to make. They are fab DLC, but I think the main game would be lacking without them. Those ones I irk at, tbh.

We're definitely not planning on doing anything like that this time around.  I understand it's a contentious issue and it makes people upset, but it's not really related to this situation though.

Well, I will concede you have a lot of consumers these days who will blatantly abuse that line of though, but the spirit of it remains true, if something costs money, that does afford a customer with rights as much as there is a push nowadays to suppress peoples rights and voice.

I don't think we'll have any mechanism in place to pay for the DLC before they have access to it though.  I'm not sure how this analogy holds up.

Or are you saying that you feel the non Microsoft products are inferior because of this?  (in this case I think I can see where you're coming from).

Did I mention that I want to hug the DA team for that?   Pass this to the team, would you?

For some of the posters, they didn't mean to make Shale into a DLC.  They had intended her to put in Redcliffe, along with the control rod.  From what I read, they had some last minute issues with getting the golem model through doorways, and so the companion was pushed back a day or so.  Those comments Shale makes about Wilhem chiseling her down so she could fit in the house came from that experience the DA team went through to get her model to properly walk through doors in the game.

After this announcement I started thinking about buying an Xbox One, even though I already own a PS4.

Said no one ever.

I doubt that this is to be seen as that much of a system mover, particularly over those that already have a PS4.

It may factor in for someone who doesn't have a console at all, but I figure it'd probably see the biggest impact by those that happen to own both.

Timed exclusive DLC....

I thought by now it would have a cozy grave next to Online Passes.

I am sure I read somewhere that they approached Sony in early development, but Sony didn't want to give out any information about the PS4, but did extend an offer to help develop a version of it for Vita, but Respawn wasn't interested in that. Later, they signed an exclusive deal with Microsoft and the rest is history.

However, I stand by my original point, this deal was most likely made for people who own both systems. Which makes sense to me. It may be annoying, but it isn't really devious.

Can't say I blame them. I expect this will settle down, or blow up depending on what the DLC actually is.

Nah. Not for me anyway. But I really don't mind waiting a week/month/whatever-it-winds-up-being. I might have been tempted to buy a console it it'd been made exclusive but I also really wanna play Quantic Dream games but I'm still not buying a PS4 for like two games.

Agree with you there. I can understand the disappointment and the annoyance. I just don't understand the venom that is being spit at Microsoft alone for this when Sony does it as well. The level of anger is puzzling to me.

I expect if you visited the Arkham Knight site, you would get the same sort of thing from the other direction.
