I'll finish the game in one week on PC, and my playthrough won't feel complete without this temporary exclusive content, which will be spoiler everywhere on the Internet.

I'm sad too, and a bit angry.

Oh, heh, okay then.´I r screwed :P

There has to be a way to change the Title since ElitePinecone updates the title of the Twitter thread every time there's a major info dump.

I'm a little disappointed by this, but whatever, when Skyrim did this for the PS3 I managed to get the dlc for half price.

If I understand correctly, it's TIMED exclusive dlc, which means you can still get that same content LATER if you don't play on XBox. Unless I'm wrong, I think it's not really that big of a deal. Probably just MS and EA partner deal or sth (and it's just simply the way business works guys, we are living in an imperfect world after all).

This thread is more or less [conspiracy theories intensify].

And Bioware can't do a damn thing without alienating someone. Show a male Inquisitor? Everyone wanting a female inquisitor is upset. Show a straight Inquisitor? Everyone wanting a gay Inquisitor is upset. Put a green dragon instead of a red dragon on the cover? Someone's upset.

Duh. $$$. I noted that. I get it. $$$ makes the world go around. Everyone has a number.

What I don't get is why a company allows itself to be used to spite it's own customers. That is contrary to good business. Make a game exclusive or don't. Cut that deal or don't.

Okay, so the game gets:

Money from sale across three platforms.

Money from DLC sales.

And a sum from Microsoft for giving it time exclusive content.

And somehow this equals bad business. Only a very small portion of gamers is going to not buy the game based on this trivial offense.

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in this then. Today was supposed to be a night of hype for me :/

Oh well, maybe conquering the Holy Roman Empire in EU IV will cheer me up.

Well, getting money to make exclusive (even if timed) content is not really the same as picking a choice in a "either or" scenario.

So, Battlefield hardline beta only for PC and PS4, Dragon Age DLC first for Xbox? .... But EA is making Battlefield, or?

It comes down to money, at the end of the day. Microsoft paid EA for timed exclusive content for DA:I. Sony paid EA for Hardline beta exclusivity.

At least. That's how I assume these things go down. Not being in the industry, I can't say for sure.

Way to make me panic over nothin' OP. Besides look on the bright side, the Xbox users will now serve as guinea pigs for all future DLC releases so we'll all know whether or not it's worth buying after their extensive playtesting.

They could just not do timed exclusive DLC and not alienate anyone.

Fun fact is that nobody give a a damn about post like this, they just skip and contiuning bitching on how the big bad ugly bioware ruined their existence.

Ludricous at best, annoying as hell at its worst.

They are releasing unknown content of the potentially far future one month later. The game is still coming out on the same day.

I have to point out yet again that no one has any idea what content they have to wait for. You make just be barred from a Nug Juggling minigame for 30 days.

The thing is I remember crap like this from the Fallout 3 and even Dragon: Age Origins hangups.  For RPGs developers tend to drag their feet on story DLC and not on weapon packs because those are more likely to sell (and they can charge more for them).  I have 0 reason to think otherwise. There are going to be 2 copies of this game floating around my household anyway.  By canceling I still get access to deluxe edition whatnot a few days after release (once my significant other finishes playing) *and* I don't have to doubly finance their stupid desire to play favorites for $$$$.  I'm not going to wait 30 days to play it and I'm also not going to play it again after 30 days just for some DLC.

The only acceptable alternative to this is if the as yet unannounced (to my knowledge) extra digital material in the Deluxe edition is whatever day-one DLC most PS4 players are being barred from.  I sincerely doubt this is the case, however, because that doesn't seem like a deal Microsoft would have agreed to.

Look the almighty $ obviously is your bottom line in considerations. I get it. And businesses live to profit, I get it.

It doesn't matter if some consumers won't notice, as another user said. It is the principle of the matter of allowing yourself to be used to spite your own customers.

If my toilet is in need of a plumber. And I call one and they say they can be at my house in two weeks. Two things will happen. 1) ask them why so long 2) I call another plumber.

If this initial plumber explains they can't possibly service my house for two weeks because the neighborhood across town gets priority, then I'll never call them again.

Granted with the video game industry it's a bit different, lack of emergency etc. however the consumer relations aspect is totally applicable.

It is contrary to good business to spite your own customer.

LOL, my first thought when I saw that part of the conference was "This is going to be at the top of the thread list on BSN".  Yup.

Since I'm playing on PS4 I am a little miffed to be honest.  But at least it will give BioWare some time to work out the DLC bugs before I play it.

On the bright side of things you'll have that little bit of extra content to look forward to a month later when you're suffering from withdrawal.

Christ, going by some peoples reactions you'd think they said the whole game was Xbox exclusive for the first 30 days.

Is waiting a month to possibly ride on a slightly different mount a worthy offence to suddenly decide not to buy?

I swear people complain just for the sake of complaining. Sounds so overly dramatic to cancel a pre-order or decide not to buy the game over something so incredibly minor.

I'm partly at fault, I kinda created that thread title in a rush and am too moronic to know how to edit the damn thing.

For what it's worth here is the confirmation direct from Microsoft's own E3 recap. The exact wording is

“Electronic Arts and the renowned developer BioWare unveiled a new trailer for “Dragon Age: Inquisition” and announced that the first single-player add-on content will arrive first, exclusively on Xbox."

I'm going to go try and weasel more information outta these weasels.
