For what it's worth here is the confirmation direct from Microsoft's own E3 recap. The exact wording is

“Electronic Arts and the renowned developer BioWare unveiled a new trailer for “Dragon Age: Inquisition” and announced that the first single-player add-on content will arrive first, exclusively on Xbox."

I'm going to go try and weasel more information outta these weasels.

Quoting myself since a lot of people are missing the last post on the last page apparently.

It's is a timed exclusive for single player. Story content not confirmed or denied.

Going from past experience, this probably won't be minor.  I'm predicting a fairly significant story day-one DLC.  For one thing, Bioware almost always has day 1 DLC and it's almost always meaty (usually a whole extra companion or at least a significant extra storyline).  Would you really want to play the whole game *without* something on the order of Javik or Shale in it while simultaneously avoiding talking with friends and trying to miss all internet spoilers until you could?  I'm excited enough about this game that I don't want to wait 30 days.  For people who are willing to wait 30 days or for whom this sort of thing is a non issue (most gamers), this is irrelevant.  The only people likely to care that much about this are people like me: the uber diehard. The fact that this demographic of which I'm part has been shoved aside because "Microsoft can give us more $$$$" isn't something I intend to endorse.  This doesn't seem dramatic to me.  It seems a sensible case of voting with my wallet and explaining myself somewhere Bioware might (but probably won't)  pay attention.

The rabid conspiracy theorist in me also remembers how DRM happy  EA is and the Xbox one is only 1 firmware update away from being "internet access required."  I've already forgone buying an Xbox this generation for this reason, and I'm certainly not going to endorse anything that gives that model an edge.  It's going to take more than a year before I believe all that Xbox drama is completely dead.

Yep. It's an industry wide issue. I've said the same things about Sony before elsewhere too.

I don't especially mind. It's a pain when they do it like this. IE, for the version of a game that is not the version I intend to buy. But I am motivated purely by self-interest.

The only game I even have for my Xbox One is Zoo Tycoon. The only other exclusive title I'm interested in is Sunset Overdrive, and I just find it to be an inferior machine to the PS4.

That's probably because they're more interested in stress testing the PSN than Xbox Live because Microsoft's server farms reduce the chances of problems happening.

Overall though still seems like a kick in the nuts for MS. That TitanFall fury not abated at EA yet.

I am definitely bummed by this. I'm paying the same amount of money for my PS4 edition as the people who are buying the Xbox One edition, so why do I (and every other excluded system player) have to wait longer? I understand EA is trying to make more money by giving Microsoft "timed exclusivity," but they could just as easily lose money by alienating everyone else.

First, DAI is being released on five systems (PS4, PS3, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One). From the various versions of this story I've read, either Xbox One solely will be getting the content early (thereby alienating 80% of their players) or Xbox One and Xbox 360 both will be getting the content early (thereby alienating 60% of their players).

I'm not saying we neglected souls won't buy the DLC content eventually, but there's a chance we'll wait until it goes on sale or may avoid purchasing it all together. I am such a person. If I hear that a DLC sucks from enough reputable people and even get to play it on another system, I will wait for a price drop. Or I may refuse to buy it at all. My money is too rare and valuable to waste. So, I suppose the delayed content could be good in some respects in that if it sucks on Xbox, I'll know not to waste my money.

However, despite my annoyance, I will not ever consider cancelling my pre-order, which I've had since the first day pre-orders were available. It was a great day. The Game Stop employee and I geeked out for a good 15 minutes. :)

Its not the fact that ill eventually get it, its the fact that even tho i spent the same amount of money as some players on a different console , i have to wait for what they get sooner. It doesn't seem that fair to me.  But then again, i don't really buy DLC because for one internet sucks, for another i love physical copies of things. So ill just buy the game again when it comes out with DLC included like DAO did.  but still unfair for others.

Just goes to show some customers are valued more than others.

Just goes to show that a dollar in hand today is worth more than a speculative potential dollar in hand four months from now.

A pointless endeavour. Microsoft has paid for timed exclusivity, and that's what they'll be getting. Sometimes people just have to suck it up. Either buy the game on an Xbox console or wait for the time to expire. I don't agree with timed (or outright exclusive) DLC in the slightest, but that's just the reality of the situation.

But it would show EA that fans aren't happy, but when have they cared about that before?

Which is what it boils down to basically. Hooray for Biowares Orwellian approach to its customers...

Knew there would be a reason to support my decision not to pre order this game.

After the fan rage from DA2 and the ME3 backlash did they really not think this would kick of on the boards?

Good Job

First of all, I need to get out that if the timed exclusives were for Playstation, there would be much less moaning. You can see it with how the Hardline beta is not for xbox and the reception to that. As for the timed exclusivity for Dragon Age, the Bioware devs probably did not have a say and this is likely a publisher-level decision, but I find it a relatively friendly way to incentivise people to get Xbox (shocker). Now, the two systems are the same price (written before Sony press conference), same specs (effectively), but Microsoft is sending the message that their platform will get content first. They aren't punishing Sony customers but giving a carrot nonetheless.

It has nothing to do with costumers, MS made a deal with them and EA loves Money.

Probably: Have never played on any console that came out after Sega Genesis though. It's a pitty that console in-fighting affects PC gamers that much.

Well not many people here really care about Hardline. If I had the choice of the two though, I'd take the Hardline beta over the DA:I stuff If I were Sony.

The PS4 verison of DA:I will be better unless Bioware intentional sabotages it. Same specs

Frankly it ****** me off a bit but as I have no plans to preorder and going to wait for somewhat reliable revues things may be in sync for me in the end anyway... if I buy the game that is. Think the game shows promise though but we will see but things like this put me off.

I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed about the timed exclusive DLC, but I'll still get the PC version regardless.

There's quite a bit I want in October so I don't think this will matter too much. By the time I get around to getting the game the DLC will be there.

Haven't they confirmed there won't be any companions as DLC for DA:I?
