Hopefully this won't affect the PC version. It might, but then again, Titanfall was released on PC, and that was Xbox One's big exclusive in the console war.

Haven't they confirmed there won't be any companions as DLC for DA:I?
Yea, I was using them as an example of the meatyness of most of their day one DLC. I see reason to expect they will suddenly turn skimpy just because there is no extra companion. If it is just some weapon pack, I'll be the first to swallow my tongue. Until they tell me what it is, I only have past examples to go on.
This is annoying but It depends on how long before it's available to other platforms and what the DLC actually is. If it's some random side mission that isn't that important then I can just play it when it comes out. It will annoy me if it ties into the main plot and has to be completed before a certain point in the game (like the end) because what if I have already gotten too far? I would then have to either wait or go back if I wanna play it with my first character.
Well not many people here really care about Hardline. If I had the choice of the two though, I'd take the Hardline beta over the DA:I stuff If I were Sony.
The PS4 verison of DA:I will be better unless Bioware intentional sabotages it. Same specs
Maybe on a purely technical standpoint the PS4 version MIGHT be better. I doubt that there will be any truly noticeable difference between the two versions though. I will be playing on PC so it is kinda moot for me.
If the DLC turns out to be something like Shale, Sebastian or Javik it would be terrible. They were so tightly integrated into the games and as characters are the heart of bioware games playing without them is really missing out (I couldn't imagine play through without them to be honest). Waiting a month or more to start the game because something like that being artificially delayed for two thirds of the fan base would not be good. ![]()
I don't think this timed exclusive dlc is really that bad. It could even be a positive. Let those xbone chumps buy the dlc right as it comes out to see if it's actually worth it. It's an easy way for EA/Bioware to get a little more cash so it makes sense for them to do it. Anyway a wait of, say, 30 days isn't that harsh when we'll have the actual game to play to pass the time.

And enjoy the spoilers they're going to throw into our faces.
my face is already melting
see this is why I am waiting before I get a new console.
Such is the way the industry works Sony did similar stuff with watchdogs not so long back so lets ignore what is another round of shin kicking between mega corps and ogle the lovely new trailers shall we?
Oooh Wyverns!
Reminds me of Skyrim's DLC...
Well, I get the game 2/3 days after everyone else, so I'm sure I can wait on the DLC too. ![]()

I wish people would read some of the thread before posting.
This will be like the 20th time this has been said in the thread:
There is absolutely no Day 1 DLC for DAI and No Companions will ever be added from DLC (according to dev posts). This does not prohibit temp companions, but no-one like Shale or Seb will make an appearance in DAI.
For what it's worth here is the confirmation direct from Microsoft's own E3 recap. The exact wording is
“Electronic Arts and the renowned developer BioWare unveiled a new trailer for “Dragon Age: Inquisition” and announced that the first single-player add-on content will arrive first, exclusively on Xbox."
I'm going to go try and weasel more information outta these weasels.
So only the first story dlc will be a timed exclusive? Does that mean the rest of them (if there are any) won't be timed exclusive? Or PS4 gets its own timed exclusive for the second dlc? Weird wording.
I seriously doubt it will be anything too major. I am sad that there is an exclusive timed DLC as I prefer to play on my computer and I do not own an Xbox, however, corporate politics can get in the way of common sense and the bigger the corporation, the more likely it will happen. I can wait for my DLC, but it doesn't necessarily make me happy. I do not hate Bioware for this, it is simply how the world works these days. Sigh.
Oh man I'm having Dawn Guard flashbacks. Somebody get me a paper bag!
I'm not getting the comparison between Bethesda and EA:Bioware when it comes to this issue. Do Bethesda and BioWare share a pool of programmers and developers? Do any of the Elder Scrolls games share an engine with DA:I?
What's the basis of this comparison the leads to concern? Skyrim was hardly the first time a game came with a delayed exclusivity clause. It certainly won't be the last. Are we going to be seeing Skyrim comparisons if FIFA 2023 comes with a console delayed exclusivity deal? How about Forza Motorsport 30? Will there be "OMG, just like Skyrim!" wailing and gnashing of teeth for every game from now on that has a timed delay?
Really, is 'Two entirely different fantasy titles by two entirely different developers' enough to come up with 'will have exactly the same post release development pitfalls!'? People aren't even reaching at this point, they've moved on to 'wildly flailing at nothing'.

So... pretty much only the first story DLC will be timed exclusive and any others will be released at the same time?
whatever, so long as there isn't some sort of delay or change in the dlc that somehow makes it inferior to the xbox version then i'm ok... a bit annoyed that we have to deal with this shite again after Bethesda's Skyrim, here's hoping Bioware doesn't go through the same problems xP
Well I got Skyrim on my PS3 and didn't mind waiting an extra month for the DLC (since the game was so huge I was still playing around with the game when the DLC came out, and DA:I is supposed to be pretty big) sure it will be harder to wait that extra time for Dragon Age DLC then Skyrims (especially if the DLC turns out to be something big like a new companion or storyline like Skyrim's Dawnguard) but hey replayability
Yeah sure it kinda puts a bit of a dampener on Dragon Age as I'm getting it on either my PS4 or PC, and sure it does lower my views of companies that do it, but at the end of the day BioWare and EA are businesses not charities, they need to make money to make the games.
The whole situation just makes EA looks cheap. Microsoft: "you love that money in your face, don't you, you bad girl? Come here and beg for more".
I don't know if I'm overreacting, but that announcment about timed exclusive DLC made me extremely disappointed in Bioware despite my love for the series and the great footage at the conference.
I thought that after the Skyrim mess up no one would make such a backhanded deal with microsoft again, especially now that no one cares about Xbox any more.
*sigh* I needed to vent. Sorry if you use Xbox, I have nothing against it. I just hope I won't have to wait half a f'ing year just because I chose to play the game on PC.
It only took so long on Skyrim because Skyrim wasn't a finished product when it released 11-11-11. Bethesda should've delayed the game to kill tons more bugs the game had but instead they choose to rush it out for the 11-11-11 date. The DLC exclusive for Xbox360 last longer when going to Playstation 3 because that is how badly Skyrim on PS3 had bugs. In theory the DLC should've hit PC and PS3 a month after it had hit Xbox360 but bugs in the game delayed that from happening.
Bioware on the other hand actually has people the clears out programming bugs and only the hard to find bugs will make through. The ones that commonly sprout up depending on the luck of the player that brought the game lol. Some of the bugs I hear that happened with Mass Effect 3 or 2 for PS3 I have never run across lol.
So... pretty much only the first story DLC will be timed exclusive and any others will be released at the same time?

If its just the first DLC I don't mind, hopefully the rest of the DLC comes out at the same. But yeah the kicker is that hopefully its the same content for all platforms otherwise that is a bit of a slap in the face for PlayStation and PC users.
My only gripe about this is if they do what Bethesda did w/ the PC version of Skyrim DLC, which was wait the moth for the XBox exclusive to run out then announce the PC DLC is coming soon. The PS3 version was a different story.
Basically if I know when it's going to come out, it's fine.
I think this move will hurt Bioware more than help them, remember the dlcs we all could've skipped if only we knew what was in them. Xbox players will spoiler the dlc for the people who have to wait a month and if those people don't like what they are hearing they will simply not purchase it.
I also think there is more outcry because this is a Bioware game and Bioware games have great story. This isn't just a game that people play for the MP only if it was people wouldn't be feeling like they are getting shafted so hard.
I personally think EA is trying to regain worst company in America, they lost it when running up for it the 3rd time so maybe they are mad and want it back ![]()
