Only thing that makes me sad is having to stay away from the forums for a month due to spoilers... :(

Exactly, why can't more people calm down and apply common sense. Surely we'll all be too busy playing the game multiple times, the month will fly for PS4 and PC users.

I think its kind of shitty this thing still happens in this day and age. If there is DLC finished that I could want then damnit I want it. Yes I would be upset but then the main game is my focus.

I also wont spend yearsw moaning about how I didn't like a game, DLC , or how they released the DLC.

It has been confirmed that the first DLC is a story DLC and it will be available first on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The other DLCs will not be timed exclusives.

Thanks for this - is there a source by any chance?

Is there any information that it is the first DLC and what that DLC is?

Ah well then it's a complete non-issue for me. I'd like to avoid the DLC story spoilers though.

Yeah, this rather doth sucketh. There are few things in the industry I loathe more than this. But as usual, I get it. e_e

And you know what? It may actually work on me, too. I hate to admit it, but there it is. Sony's conference and the general tempo of the next couple of months will dictate that for me. I'm picking up a PS4 by the beginning of next year, regardless, but I wasn't intending to grab an Xbox One for another year or so and I was going to get that PS4 in September. But between this ugly news and the Halo Master Chief Collection, I'm tempted to push the One ahead a bit unless there's anything on the PS4 this holiday season that calls to me.

Considering how relatively few games I play, it's kind of unlikely.

You're welcome  :)  Here is the quote and link. Microsoft has clarified that the exclusive content will be the first single-player add-on for Dragon Age: Inquisition. This will arrive first on Xbox (360 and One).

I suppose it's entirely possible Microsoft's only getting that very first story DLC ahead of time and then only by a week.

I find this deal to be very scummy and I'm extremely disappointed that it is happening. "We can do better", huh EA?

One that was caught.  It's not like there was any kind of group dedicated to exposing said people so who knows.

As for the second point, it is worse, obviously.  Sure, both have the same intent, to manipulate people one way or the other.  The difference is motivation. One is doing it as an idealogical protest to all that EA stands for, even if they're doing in a shady, shitty way.  The other is fleece people out of money.

Really? You don't believe when he was exposed a flood of brats were not desperately seeking thru all the good reviews to find more evidence of some conspiracy?

The truth is it was a low level employ that did something stupid and some other people want to make it out like it is some big conspiracy.

On the other hand there are large groups of people on the internet that organize themselves to the hundreds to review bomb a game because they don't like how it looks, they don't like that its set in one place, they don't like that it has a voiced protag, that it has day one DLC, that they hate there is no races to choose, and etc...  And they have not even played the game yet.

You don't like shooters fine. You don't like MMO's fine. Deliberately bombing them just because you prefer something else is pathetic and childish.

Watch the movie, the tv show, read the book, or play the game. Then give a honest review. Don't attack something just because it does not fall into your like category.

If everyone jumps off a cliff it doesn't mean that you should follow suit. If you are aiming to improve relations with your customers you don't employ anti-consumer business practices.

I don't agree with the practice of it either, nontheless it is common practice, it's nothing new. If DAI is as good as we hope then that's more important than a timed dlc deal. It doesn't just become a problem when it effects a certain group of people.

First reaction: annoyance. Somewhat exasperated.

Well, given how I play these things, I'll have to do without the addon content for the first couple of runs, regardless. As I understand it, story DLC won't be day one regardless.

Even so, I'm not a fan of business decisions like this, on principle. And the "I will have to wait longer" part does make me more than a little miffed. There's no denying that.

I can sort of tolerate the timed exclusivity, it 's the potential pre-order DLCs and/or exclusive items from promotional acts that worries me more.

I can't wait for the console wars to cool down so we cool down with so many exclusive it is just annoying with how much competition they are doing and it makes me want to pull my hair out

My apologies if this has already been brought up, I haven't been able to read through all of the preceding pages...

Has anything been said about when this timed exclusive story DLC will be released?  If it's day one, day seven, day ten, then this is a pretty skeevy move on the part of EA, Bioware, and to a lesser extent, Microsoft.  However, I seem to recall Bioware having said that, pre-order and CE bonuses notwithstanding, there would be no day one DLC for DA:I.  Now, admittedly, they could release it on day 2, but that seems like the kind of move that's just engineered to tick people off.

If we look at what happened with DA:O, DA2, ME2, ME3, day 1 DLC excluded, the first story DLC packs were always, assuming I'm remembering correctly, released well after the game itself came out.  What if this XBOX exclusive comes out on day fifty or day one hundred?  While this in no way excuses the practice, by that point, many players should have already completed the OC.  Having to wait thirty days to to resume your campaign or to start a new one seems somewhat less onerous.

I had allowed myself to think that this kind of excrement was over, now that Microsoft was no long the publisher of BioWare's games. This is reminding me of the way I, as a PC player, had to wait for months for KotOR, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect to be released for me after they came out for the fornicating x-box, while BioWare added insult to injury by lying through their teeth that the games were x-box exclusives and there were "no plans" to ever release them on another platform.

This is probably a marketing test. EA takes a few bucks from Microsoft and just sees how we react, betting that we'll all still line up to take what we can get as soon as we can get it. Hell, they might have even predicted that there would be a handful of sycophants eager to defend them on this forum. If we all just shrug it off and fork over their asking price anyway, this is just a taste of what we'll have to look forward to in the future. Sony might get an exclusive mission, Microsoft might get an exclusive companion, PC gamers get everything but only a couple years later when the "ultimate edition" is released to squeeze the last few bucks out of the game before the next one is released.

No, I haven't cancelled my pre-order. Not yet, anyway. This kind of indifference and disregard, though, make me feel like I'm a sucker for paying the full release price. If BioWare/EA are willing to make me wait so that they can get a few extra bucks out of Microsoft, then maybe I should wait until the complete game with all its "DLC" is on sale for a price that's a little bit more like what I used to pay for games, when the whole damn thing came on the disc, in a box with a manual and a mousepad.

Really, I get that modern games have high production costs. I buy them new, and even pre-order deluxe/collector's editions, because I want to support the companies that produce the media I like to consume, the same reason I buy Game of Thrones seasons on blu-ray even though it is easier to just download the episodes for free. These are choices that I and millions of other consumers make, but we don't have to. It's really easy to wait for a game's price to drop before buying it--in today's marketplace the first price drop is usually only a few months after release. I don't expect much direct reward for paying the full day-one price beyond supporting the producer, but what I don't expect is to have to wait some arbitrary "screw you" period so that they can squeeze a few extra bucks out of a platform exclusive. It's a slap in the face, and if they make a habit of this crap it will change my buying habits--maybe not immediately, but inevitably. And once I get out of the habit of buying their games on day 1, it's bloody unlikely I'll ever go back to it.

Maybe I'm the only one, or one of an insignificant few. All I can do is speak for myself, but I think this is bull crap.

5 bucks says that after a month or so after the xbone DLC comes out, it comes out for PC and it still has the same bugs and ****.
