I think Bioware should start fresh with the IP and reboot it.

I'd rather a sequel, but I'd prefer a reboot over a prequel.

Not going to happen, it too early for a reboot (ME1 isn't even 10 years old) and it looks like its going to be a sequel.

Yes please. I would love a reboot, to play Shepard again on the next gen consoles; with everything that was wrong with the trilogy fixed. That would be awesome. I'd definitely buy that.

Ew, no. I'd rather have ME move forward than slide back on its ass. A reboot would be just as bad as a prequel or an alternate universe, not to mention that it would be cheap and cowardly. They made their mistakes and they should learn from them and move forward.

They're "moving forward" in the universe, which suggests more of a continuation of the narrative than an outright purge of what's already there.

The only boot we'll see is the one given to the Shepard Trilogy. There is no "re" about it.

Yeah no need to retell the same stories again especially since the trilogy has finished.

Can't reboot the Reaper story line, because of one simple thing: it would be a worthless waste unless a whole new ending was created as part of a cohesive narrative across the new story, and before you can create a new ending you've got to be able to admit that the old ending, catalyst and all, was bad.
Artistic integrity makes that a non-starter. Everyone knows that the ending was lame, but the closest an official statement can come to that admission is to call it "polarising" or "divisive." That means ME4 will go in a direction that doesn't require the characters in-game or the developers in the real world to talk about ME3 or the way Shepard's trilogy ended, 'cause no one wants to defend it and no one is allowed to admit that it sucks.

Thankfully a reboot has zero chance of happening.
Only the most hardcore of fans would want to go out and purchase The Shepard Trilogy: Take Two. It would be a bad business decision.

I honestly don't know what reboot would mean in the context of Mass Effect.
A reboot (in my opinion) implies that ME would have had to be "off" (or out of style perhaps) for a decent period of time.
If the various previews and hints provided by Bioware devs are to be believed, then the next Mass Effect will hardly be just a continuation of the same story but a new one set in an entirely different sector of space. If that isn't Bioware "[starting] fresh with the IP," I don't know what would be.
I guess Bioware could change ME's genre from a Third Person Action RPG but honestly, the gameplay is the last thing Bioware needs to address.

I can a see a reboot happening in about 10 or so years but I agree, a reboot straight after finishing the first trilogy is not a good idea.

That's a terrible idea. I don't care how much certain fans disliked the ending of Mass Effect 3, requesting a reboot is a gross overreaction in my opinion. The trilogy as a whole is very entertaining and far more enjoyable than most of the games I've ever played. I am glad that the series is moving forward, and honestly, the fans should too.

See, this is part of why I like "Ark Theory", like a reboot, its a fresh start that detaches itself from trilogy, but it doesn't erase the trilogy.

The best we can hope for is a "Master Chief Collection" approach with uprezzed graphics. I wouldn't expect that to happen until they have two or three more ME games out the door to prove that the franchise is still drawing strong enough sales.

If the trilogy is ported to the X1/PS4 there won't any rewrites added to the games just updated visuals and maybe all the DLC nothing more.No reboot, remaster for next gen and put in some rewrites while they're at it. But that will only happen after I win the lottery and buy the rights.
