I am just going to post a discovery I made that makes me think that quivers is just not done yet in the footage we have seen.

If you look at this gameplay coverage from E3, and at 9:42 you can see a hooded female draw her bow in some cutscene, and you can clearly see the back of an arrow on her back where a quiver would normally be. There is no quiver and the arrow(s) disappears later in the cutscene. But she is clearly drawing arrows from her back.
So I think this is just early footage before they add quivers, as it just looks awkward when they draw arrows out of their backs.

I'd live, and its not a big deal to me, and I would think they would add them before launch so I am not overly worried...but even then it just seems odd if it does indeed end up happening because its like they have taken one step forward (adding bow strings) but have taken one back (removing quivers). Its just...odd. And I hope its a case of having one but losing the other. :/

It took'em six years to add bowstrings. Quivers are the trade off. Funny or sad?

I would rather have quivers than bow strings.

At least the bows have actual strings. That's still better than many other games out there.
Quivers would be nice, but then again so would be backpacks for hauling all the equipment... Or maybe ox carts would make more sense, right?
Weapons in Dragon Age have never been anywhere close to realistic, and that has only tended to get worse with time.
I mean, daggers are actually shortswords that we carry floating on our backs. One-handed swords are 2-handers that are flailed around like a feather. 2-handers are more like 4-handers and are so big that some models might be more useful as stationary shields than portable weapons... etc.
Oh, and did I mention weapons floating on the characters' backs? And that's in a next-gen game, while previous-gen games had actual sheaths, holsters and straps that worked well and didn't clip with the armor that much.
This made me lol.
1. I would like to see sheaths
2. Gear is going to clip, unfortunately it takes waaaay too much effort to map every little detail perfectly to everything
3. Floating back weapons kind of irk me, which is why this made me lol
4. Maybe the make believe iron in Dragon Age is lighter than real life iron!!
lol
Developers have to discard a lot of "useless" cosmetics to add other stuff. You want highly detailed armor? You want big bad ass pauldrons? You will have to deal with not having a sheath. It might be clipping through almost everything.
I will say that I hate how daggers are short swords... I also hated that ion DA:O I couldn't DW a sword and axe, etc.
Regeardless, I'm sure quivers will be added later. It's a quick fix, it just hovers on your back ![]()

The arrow on the back you're talking about happens at 9:45.
However, leading up to that, you clearly don't see any quivers on their backs. But like I said.. I'm sure they will be added in later.

yes I know there is no quivers anywhere in the footage. But why add arrows on the back at all in a cutscene without quivers. That looks even more awkward than pulling magical arrows out of ones back. That is why I also believe that quivers will be added and the scene that is seen in the footage is just placeholder arrow that is added.
At least I hope it is....

I know that adding sheaths and all that is extra work, and clipping is not really a big issue, I rather have some cool details like sheaths with some clipping than floating weapons. But it does say something when developers like Bethesda can make a huge game like Skyrim but still take the time to add sheaths to swords and quivers for bows. Even a game like Mount and Blade has sheaths for swords.
I always feel like small details in games shows more passion from the devs. And I often notice these things.

Don't know if this has been made public knowledge much yet, I didn't see it today except when I hit the Dragon Age Tumblr (Really good resource for DA:I info btw)
This is apparently from the official Sera Character Kit:

Just to let everyone know they did not have quivers in archery in the original daII demo that was released ages ago but then of course included it in the game. I'm sure that the footage they've showed is just old demo footage and they haven't added in the quivers yet and I can assure with confidence that they will be in the final game, plus, like above, Sera's character kit has a quiver if that's not enough confirmation. So no worries
