According to Amazon UK you can now pre-order ME4 and it's release date is 31st December 2014. Would be nice but I doubt it.

But I doubt it.

So do I.

I think it's technically possible, but that relates to more personal opinions/ideas of mine (which rely on a secret being unveiled from/after Inquisition).

I think 2015 is very likely and 2016 is possible. End of 2014 is very unlikely - I just won't call it impossible.

When games have no official release date it's common to see December 31st of the current year listed as such on some vendor sites, seems like a default setting.

Anyway, the next ME is most definitely NOT coming out this year.

At the very least, it will come out next year.

December 2015 I'd guess. From the scale they are talking about for the game, I wouldn't mind if they took until mid 2016 to release, give them time to really bring out the shine for the game, Mister Miyagi style.

December 2015 might be a bad time with what I can imagine will be a lot of Star Wars hysteria going on.

They haven't even coughed up a proper name for the game. There's no way in hell they're releasing this thing in December of this year.

December 31st of a given year is almost always a placeholder release date.

There is no way they would release Mass Effect game this year, for it would be the same level of quality as Dragon Age 2 and they are trying to win back fans and not alienate more which unfortunately is what happened because of how Dragon Age 2 felt.

The earliest I am guessing the next Mass Effect game would be released is in the fall of 2015, but I would think mid to late 2016 would be a better guess because they didn't really show any game content at E3.  Of course I am still of the belief that EA is trying to release a BioWare game every year and rotate between Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and the new IP with each game getting three years of development time.

Not going to happen. I'm guessing it might be a Fall 2015 game, but if it was going to be out these year, they would have had to drop the bombshell at E3. Plus, why have it compete with Dragon Age? Doesn't make sense.

It's just a placeholder.

Why would a retailer publicly list a game's release date before the developers have even announced it?

Well, I couldn't find the article, but the search lead me to THIS lovely nutritional gem:

Maybe we should take this as an omen and spend the time until release with lifting? Like... "Eat like a Thresher Maw, lift like a Krogan!"...

If we look at the past release dates for EA, we can see a pattern:

October 2011: Battlefield 3

March 2012: Mass Effect 3

October 2012: MoH: Warfighter

February/March 2013: Crysis 3/Dead Space 3/Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel

October 2013: Battlefield 4

March 2014: Titanfall

October 2014: Battlefield: Hardline

So I'd say it's safe to say that 2015 will go like this:

March 2015: Mass Effect 4

October 2015: Mirror's Edge 2/SW: Battlefront

They want your money now. Plain and simple. Amazon 4 shame.

Anyway, not this year. Although... I'd love to have ME4 to play over Christmas break.

I know it says not final artwork but Amazon UK have just added a cover shot and it made me smile as it has Shepard on the front.

Honestly I would prefer to be January 2016 or late 2015. I just want BW to take ALL the time they can get...just don't rush it for God sake. I can wait as long as it needs to be if then a complete game is released.

Just take your time BW

The thing is, it isn't just about BW, it's also about the release schedule of EA. And at this level, it isn't just about releasing the game. There is also marketing and advertising plans that also have a schedules. And delays cost money.
