A Map. :) Lists all the ways to get from one area to another. I was surprised how many secret places were left, got a lot to work on.
Spoiler

Frenzy can go to hell, though.

One of the later sections makes that hell on earth. -_-

So how did this happen? While I was gone everyone finished both PoE and BB?

I hope I'm nowhere near the end, because I don't want it to end.

Same. But at the same time I'm looking forward to setting the controller aside as the credits start rolling (assuming it's your run-of-the-mill humdrum credits screen (why can't more games' credits be fun like Vanquish, or eerie as hell and captivating like Resident Evil 4?)) and immediately spoiling myself by looking up all that I missed on the first playthrough.

Today's progress included successfully traversing the Forbidden Woods without losing thousands of blood echoes, braving a poisonous cavern filled with giants to find a familiar area at the top of a very long ladder, reaching the fabled Byrgenwerth, hitting level 60, and getting my ass handed to me by a giant pus nightmare twice, before I decided to call it a night.

I haven't delved into any of the chalice dungeons; are they worth the time? I'm assuming they're optional and not required to finish the game.

They're fun.  I beat a few, nothing really hard.  I was overpowered for the first 3, but I'll try them later on my next playthrough.   Going a Bloodtinge/Skill build for this one.

How many are there in total, do you know? also, which firearm for that Bloodtinge build? does Skill scale as well as Strength for weapons?

I'd expect roughly 8-10.

There are 4 Chalice Types: Pthumeru, Hintertomb, Loran, and Isz. 3 drop off of optional bosses, one you've probably fought by now(Blood-Starved Beast). They go for about 3 levels, which include Bosses and Creatures unique to the Chalice Dungeons. "Central" Chalices tend to be a bit harder, and the "Lower" Chalices will kick your butt.

I enjoyed them a great deal. :) I'll take their roguelikes over Diablo III any day of the week.

Video Game Binging. It's been many moons since I did that last.

Well I've seen one, and one is too many. I'd give anything for a handful of Great Homing Blood Echo Arrows.

Is there a consumable to combat Frenzy? If there is, why don't I have armloads of them?

Also... do the brain guys respawn? I'd hate to risk barging over to one, killing it and dying afterwards only to find he's back. I don't even think I'd have time to reach him, my frenzy meter just skyrockets. And that's with my most resistant gear.

If he's guarding an onion helm I'm going to punch someone.

I want to use Evelyn with Chikage.

You can use Sedatives to combat Frenzy or just make sure you have full HP because I noticed if I have full and it still does the "Frenzy", it wouldn't kill me, I'd be left with about 10 percent of HP.  And yes, they respawn.

I haven't run across any sedatives yet. Hopefully soon.

Here's something that happened to me the other day. I was in a chalice dungeon, and was killed by a giant blob I didn't even see until it was on top of me. (Note to self: Bring Torch.) Anyway, I decided I'd get revenge on said blob and hurried back to kill it and retrieve my blood echoes. I killed it, but... no blood echoes. No stain anywhere nearby. I thought, well... this is weird. I went to the floor above and...

Me 2 minutes into Nightmare of Mensis,

I also, as it turned out, sent a psychopath to the cathedral safe house. He murdered the old lady. When I went to discipline him he turned into a giant electric werewolf. This game *shakes head*

Gotten about halfway through NG+. Most of the monsters aren't too tough, but the Bosses seem a little more aggressive than before. I'm stuck at the Shadow of Yharnam fight; These three really need to burn in a fire, rise as an undead, and be Phoenix Down-ed by a spiky-haired protagonist directly before being suplexed by sabin. Once the first transformation hits, it's lights out. They do that hand-whip move that takes half my health and is usually followed by another while I'm stunned. I had them down to the last guy at one point, but he pulled out a summon and it was over. Sticking in Melee range removes the chances of them hand-whipping, but it still ends up as a risky battle.

On the lighter side of news, the Crowfeathers Gear is the best-looking gear in the game:

Victorian Horror Batman? :)

I wonder if they'll get petitioned(again) to bring this on the PC. So far the game's been legendary, lightning may strike twice for PC users.

Got every video up for the playthrough, so this'll be my last post about it.
Check my profile, or here if you need to find the videos. The spoiler box below has them too:

+1 for FFVI.

I'd love if it was ported to PC, but dat published by Sony. Though it's easier to recommend a PS4 now than it was before.

That crying though Dom.  My ears.  I can hear it now.

Also, my favourite set so far, at least from what I found is that Ashen one, not the Hunter looking one - but the one from the Chalice Dungeon.  Looks all Witch-like, really cool.

Insight can make the game harder.

Are you noticing that enemies have suddenly become more difficult? It could be that your insight has become too high. If your insight is north of 20 and you start to see enemies performing unexpected new attacks, consider buying some stuff at the Insight shop to get it back down. We’re still not entirely clear on all of the effects of high insight, though, so it could well be that extremely high insight counts unlock untold mysteries. We’ll keep investigating.

Hmm, I don't think I've ever really noticed.

Q: does playing offline stop other players from being able to invade your game?

Because I was just beginning to wander around the Nightmare Frontier level for the second time before I saw a message about the bell lady ringing her damn bell, and before I knew it someone was connecting to my game. I lost, for the record, though only by a small margin surprisingly. I suspect he knew what he was doing; I saw not only a quick melee weapon in the threaded cane, but also a slew of magic spells I hadn't seen before, which in hindsight does seem like an ideal PvP setup.

Anyway, here's a neat Silent Hill homage courtesy Michael McWhertor.

I was in the nightmare frontier for a good while, I got the notification that the "bell ringing maiden was ringing a sinister bell", but she never actually summoned anyone. There were two(?) AI hunters with threaded canes, that's all I had. I was wondering if people could invade you there even if you weren't "open". They should have invaded me, I was farting around there forever before I killed the bell ringer.

I hate Rom, I hate his stupid AoE attack and I hate those ****** spiders.

For the Blizzard, it's best to do this. Running isn't quite as effective, so try that instead. The spiders do kinda suck. Try a regain attack and/or roll away. For Phase 3, I usually just bait him into flopping around like a fish out of water, and then slap him with my pointy-stick. Hope that helps?

Rom makes an appearance in the Chalice Dungeons, and it was absolute hell in such a closed space.

Managed to find all the hidden spots and bosses, Daughter of the Cosmos is quite kawaii. I think it's the eyes that do it for me.

FS has certainly done a good job capturing the fear of the unknown, particularly with the second half of the game. Merely a Van Helsing Simulator this is not. :P

Started this game today. Been waiting for this game for a while now, since it was announced (seems like the PS4 doesn't have enough games worth getting). I just got my two duo weapons.

Any advice moving forward? I'm a Central Yharnam BTW.

So, Bloodletting Beast just destroyed me thrice in a row lol. First two chalice dungeons were quite easy for being around level 60-90, but this third one has been rougher, to say the least. The one area with fire-breathing dogs and, like, 6-7 insect dragons was insane. But so far, yeah, digging the dungeon crawling, though I'm not sure how far I'll get considering I'm a couple of bosses away from NG+. If the other three scale in difficulty the way this third one has... chalice dungeon progress doesn't carry over into NG+, does it? and if it does, will the difficulty scale with NG+?
