OK. I can do this. It's all about the proper mindset, right?

To Quote the Late, Almighty Qistina: "Spin around and slap the enemy butt."

You can do Cleric a few ways. You can bait him into bashing the floor in protest while walking back, then run behind him and slash a few times. If he jumps, get ready to roll. I've tried running, doesn't work too well. He's nothing but melee; Try to watch his moveset and learn when the right time to strike is most opportune. I wouldn't advise locking onto him, better to have your freedom of movement.

When in doubt, do what I did and throw a bunch of molotov cocktails at him. Or pebbles. Pebbles are great. :)

------------

I beat the NG+ and discovered the "other" ending. My response was similar to the first:

1249287503_ice_cube.gif

chalice dungeon progress doesn't carry over into NG+, does it? and if it does, will the difficulty scale with NG+?

Difficulty doesn't seem to scale with NG+, so you can literally plow through the Normal Pthumeru in 10-15 minutes if you wanted. Bloodletting Beast is still seriously tough, though. Not sure on Chalice Progress.

The Legend Never Dies...?

So true.

Stopped my story progression right after the Wet Nurse. Concentrating on Chalice Dungeons at the moment, because I'm still not sure if the progress for these carries over into NG+. Got to the 5th, which is super fun, you know, having your HP halved. First boss wasn't too bad, though, just required a lot of parrying. Hopefully I'll get to the Queen by tomorrow night.

Anyone have any theories on the story so far? One of the major themes I've noticed is the Lovecraftian creatures, eg. the tentacle-faced dudes. Even the bosses are referred to as 'Great Ones'. Would love to get a conversation going about this.

It does, no need to remove the "I <3 Yharnam" Commemorative Mug from the Interdimensional Gravestone Transportation System. For Finding ritual blood, Wiki Info. Why I need a Pearl Slug to do a Roguelike? No one knows.

Trying the 2nd NG+ has been brutal for bosses. With 99 Insight, Vicar Amelia was a huge challenge. She healed herself 6, yes 6 times. -_-

Based God LobosJR beats it in 45 minutes. There's an exploit to bypass right to the forbidden woods, that's new to me.

Ah, used duping though, so not that impressive, IMO.  Still though, always fun to watch.

Apparently they patched that though?  The duping I mean.

To Quote the Late, Almighty Qistina: "Spin around and slap the enemy butt."

<3  Hey, it works. It's my strategy for every boss going in. Then Amygdala happened. My backup strategy, which is "hurl molotovs like a crazy person," seemed to do the trick.

Didn't play much today. I'm currently level 50, mucking about in Cainhurst and Byrgenwerth, with occasional trips back to the Forbidden Woods to once again try to find my way up to an item I can see but can't reach. I assume it's the head piece for the graveguard set, as it was near the rest of it, on a ledge above. I have an atrocious sense of direction, so that isn't helping. I'm honestly surprised I ever found my way out of there.

Only for the Item Duplication Glitch I think, and a bug with the lunarium key.

So I guess this guy beat the entire game as a level 4 Waste of Skin. I never watched any of his videos, and unintentionally spoiled myself on what the final boss is by going to his channel (way to go me, I should know better.)

It'll be something to gawk at when I'm done, I guess.

Best feeling.

I'm nowhere near attempting those tougher chalice dungeons (I'm only level 54, also my hp is just under 700, so having that halved is not something I'm interested in right now...) but I did have a similar moment today.

I'd say Bloodborne. It's refreshing new concepts, great new gameplay focus, engaging story, and it's back to the minimalistic narrative of Demon's and Dark Souls that I infinitely preferred (although this may be down to your preference).

I'm finding it a lot harder than both Demon's and Dark Souls, though.

In truth she wasn't that difficult. It was the road to her that was cruel. Watchdog is by far, IMO, the toughest chalice dungeon boss, at least on the way to Pthumeru Ihyll. Amygdala and Abhorrent Beast were also quite challenging.

But I seriously put in some work today, including finishing the game for the first time.

BloodborneFirstCompletionTime_zpsdweq96w

I'm a little shocked my time wasn't higher, at least 70 hours, considering I felt like I spent a ton of time in the chalice dungeons especially. Unless that time doesn't count chalice dungeons, in which case I then feel it's accurate.

What a game though. I mean, BasedMiyazaki. At the very least Bloodborne is hands down the best Lovecraftian game I've played, and at times it's acknowledgement and affection for the man's work was straight up pungent. As an action role-playing game I would rank it pretty high up there, especially when it comes to the combat. I think my main complaint would still be, and it's a technical one, the frame rate. Otherwise this isn't just a contender for GOTY, as it could probably be one of the games of this gen, much like Demon's or Dark Souls was in the previous one.

In truth she wasn't that difficult. It was the road to her that was cruel.

Her spells make the fight very dynamic, but I didn't have a deathfest trying to beat her :P I was wondering what her name was. My top 2 most annoying chalice bosses would be Loran Darkbeast and The Bloodletting Beast 2.0. Both require a lot of tedious hit-and-run tactics to survive, plus a little luck hoping they don't get you at unexpected moments.

HALP! Can't make my decision between getting Bloodborne or the Dark Soul 2 remastered version...

If you prefer a level's art design less like Thief and more like Ocarina of Time, DS2 is one route...but naturally I'm going to say Bloodborne. It's a far more satisfying game with a more intriguing story to it.

Getting very close to 100%-ing for trophies, just gotta grab some Weapons/Tools missed along the way. Apparently there's a Cannonball weapon I missed in Forbidden Woods? o.O

I just killed the boss at the Altar of Despair and died at the same time.

PREY SLAUGHTERED

YOU DIED

I was wondering if there was any significance to the Make Contact gesture. It seemed... important. I tried it in front of the boss before it got up, I waited there for a little while, but nothing happened, so I assume it's just another silly pose to make when someone summons you.

Interesting thing about Bloodborne is that it's a better horror game than any self-titled horror games of recent years. I'm enjoying it.

You still get the win there, right?

Shuhei Yoshida tweeted this yesterday,

Someone replied to him saying that if you use the Make Contact gesture in front of Mother Brain for 30 seconds something will happen. Never tried it myself, so not sure what.

I did get the win, yep. I would have been slightly pissed if I didn't. Her tentacle swipes killed me in one hit at full health.

I just had to run back to get my echoes and light the lamp. (I almost fell down the elevator shaft, then subsequently almost got murdered by that anemone. BUT I GOT MY ECHOES BACK. Barely.

I also stood next to that mummy and "Made Contact." I'm sure I have a screenshot saved somewhere.

Mother Brain, huh? That's in Nightmare of Mensis, I imagine. I just started that area and I want to leave. And here I thought Nightmare Frontier was bad.

EDIT:

Yep, here's my screenshot.

Can't even begin to tell you the amount of times I've died, respawned at a light lamp determined to get my souls back, know that I have to take an elevator along the way, but forget that said elevator requires the lever to be pulled again, and realizing it a split second before falling to my death.

I also have this.
