There's something I never understood about soul game. The NPC. You go through hell to reach a new boss area, zone etc, but for some reason there's always some kind of weakling in the middle of nowhere waiting for you.
They're surrounded by dragon , lich and vampire, but they seem to be fine. Sp immersion breaking. It's like ahhhhh yes video game dev teleporting powah! Everyone, but you have some kind of supernatural wormhole teleporting invulnerability powers to make sure the story can progress.
Remind me of symphony of the night blonde chick. She just appear in a room after you had to go through an army of dangerous traps and monster. lol.
Princess - Hey hello. I was waiting for you !
Vampire lord '* Look behind him * - Wait ... how did you ?
Princess - Ohhh I sneaked in some kind fo secret passage hihihih !!
Vampire- ...
It's not the only game that does this of course. So annoying. So immersion breaking. So video gamey.

Bloodborne doesn't have that from what I've seen. Alfred and Elienne remain in areas appropriate for their skills.
That being said, with how overpowered NPC Hunters are in this game, I imagine they could also solo the game with their huge health bars and high damage output!
Now a real gripe I have is with the small selection of weapons and armor that this game has. It really numbers you down to a small amount of possible builds contrary to what the Souls games did. Unfortunate. Otherwise everything else is exactly what I expected from this game: great lore, great bosses, great gameplay and brilliant atmosphere.
I've yet to finish the game yet. I have one character at the final boss (exploring Chalice Dungeons) and just begun with a new character a few days ago where I've already found new things involving new dialogue with characters, new methods to deal with said characters and even two new quests. I know I'm going to discover new things in a third playthrough and that's when I'll come back and get involved in a few lore discussions, hopefully having seen more of the game from different perspectives along with the different endings etc...
All I can say now is that the lore is more intriguing than what I found in any of the Souls games with more interpretations you can draw.

And the ones that DO wander outside end up dead most of the time. Most people hide in their homes.
I'm at the end as well. I just lost to a club-handed Undead Giant I shouldn't have lost to in the Lower Pthumeru Chalice dungeon. I didn't realize I was so close to a wall. Oh well. I'll get him next time.
Has anyone bought/used the Rosmarinus? I think that's my next purchase. I still have to buy all the weapons at the shop, I keep forgetting they're there and end up spending all my echoes leveling up.
I used the one blood rock I found to +10 my Ludwig's Holy Blade rather than my saw cleaver. I'm not usually one for greatswords, but I love that thing.
Mergo's Loft spoilers:
Oh, AND as I was waiting to be summoned into my brother's world (we had passwords set) I ended up in someone else's game as an invader. I don't do PvP because lag and I'm terrible - I can't blame it ALL on lag. I instantly used a silencing blank. But weird.

Spoilers btw. It's a fantastically produced video. Looking forward to seeing how he presents the rest of Bloodborne's story.
I just wrapped up NG+ tonight. I managed to save all the NPCs in this playthrough, well, as far as some of them could have been saved... Another thing I did differently was send that ol' beggar to Iosefka's Clinic, and the consequences of that action proved to be pretty remarkable.
Onto NG++ and the final trophy I need for Plat.
And the ones that DO wander outside end up dead most of the time. Most people hide in their homes.
Aye. Only exception I've seen thus far is the crying nun in Hypogeon Gaol, though she hides in an area sans monsters.

I tried it out, and it's a bit like the Flamesprayer. Not to any great effect as my Arcane is cack, but then again so is my Bloodtinge... try it out and tell us if it's any good against bosses or high level mobs. I've heard it's a great early game strategy against Cleric Beast.

Good choice. Has an A in Strength if I recall, like the Kirkhammer, which is what I started using 3/4 into the game after realizing the Saw Cleaver simply isn't strong enough without elemental blood gems.

Yeah, that was... yeah. GameInformer's Podcast seemed to allude to this theory:Another thing I did differently was send that ol' beggar to Iosefka's Clinic, and the consequences of that action proved to be pretty remarkable.
Never been to Hypogeon Gaol, I'll work on that.

Wouldn't be surprised if parts of it end up in VaatiVidya videos in the future. Considering his history as a /v/irgin, he probably lurks and contributes to most of the Bloodborne threads on 4/8chan.

So as I was waiting for Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze to finish downloading on my Wii U (be sure to get it before June 30th, by the way, if you're a Club Nintendo member) I figured why not start NG++ cause I got nothing better to do. 2 hours later...
I became acquainted with how quick the game can be finished in my last playthrough, noticing that *counts in head* it only takes 7 boss encounters to get to the end. And it's astonishing how much you MISS by doing so. I didn't face Cleric Beast, and I didn't go anywhere near the Frontier, or Old Yharnam, and I was in the Forbidden Woods for about 10 minutes. It's thrilling, really, to try and finish a game like Bloodborne so quick, just to see if you can do it... but, man, how shallow the game can feel also. In 2 hours, most games just can't relate. Maybe Resident Evil, and maybe Metal Gear Solid, though no one realistically spends 30 to 40+ hours on a single playthrough in any of those franchises' titles. You know I'm not sure what my point is. Could just be the euphoria of 100%.
In any case! the 3 endings. I approve of each one. They're nuanced enough not to feel like Red, Blue, or Green. And I feel each one references, or rather alludes to at least one of the major themes of Bloodborne, so as to be ambiguous but not to the point where people argue over which ending is the 'correct' one. That's my stance right now, anyway, though, I dunno, maybe I'm wrong hahaha and Miyazaki's all, like, nah, man, third one's totally canon. For the record I went with the first ending last, and at least aesthetically that one was my favourite.
Never been to Hypogeon Gaol, I'll work on that.
I probably never would've been either had my buddy not dared me to get rekt by one of those boogeymen on purpose.
Spoiler
Nice, gonna give that a read in a bit.

Yahtzee just did a Zero Punctuation on it.
Got me thinking. Since I don't have a PS4, should I get around to buying DS2? I've had a fetish for "dudes in armor" since Castlevania.

yeah i bought DkS2 redo in the end. it;s a better game than dx9 version.
but to be honest BB is just superior in every way possible.
p.s. BB is much more dynamic, faster and aggressive game.

So I started Bloodborne today. Took forever in the CC, got killed twice by the first werewolf, and now I'm already stuck not knowing where to go lol. None of the doors open and I pulled a lever that I don't even know what it did.

They'd made the first Yharnam spot like a bloody labyrinth for some reason. If you're at the Central Yharnam lamp and the door to the left is still closed, I'd suggest either opening that up first or walking to the other side of that giant-ass bridge, the one with the werewolves - just run past them.
If you need to open the door, the hint I'll give is find a bunch of cages full of dogs, and head down further towards a staircase. If you haven't found that either, I think the bridge can lead you there.
Worst case scenario, check a speed run of the game to see how to get there.

Dude, just keep killing stuff until you feel comfortable killing everything. If your stuck, try collecting some blood echoes first, cash 'em in at the Hunter's Dream, and then have another go at exploring further ![]()

I'll have another go at it later tonight. I think that by the time I was done creating my character, I was already exhausted and went by areas real quickly and got frustrated when none of the gates would open. I find this game fun though and can't wait until I actually start doing things in it.

We're also getting a patch for loading times this month, which means you won't have to stare at the bloody title all the time.
Don't feel too discouraged. Back in the day, I must've spent 2-3 hours trying to beat Taurus Demon from Dark Souls - a relatively easy early boss compared to the rest. When in doubt, try the video walkthrough way up at the top. I may try making some boss walkthrough videos as well, if it helps.I can't kill the Cleric Beast

Get on my level. Have you ever defeated 7-8 bosses in Soul-esque games?
I'd gotten momentary Parkinson after defeating some of them. The stress was so damn high!
