I'm very slow. I will face Vicar Amelia today. I'm scared.

Amelia can seem pretty daunting, but isn't nearly as bad once you've got the moves down. If you get stuck, here's a few tips:
  • The easiest way to deal damage on Amelia is to get a long distance away from her and have her jump towards you. Once it looks like she's about to make the jump, run right past her and hit her a few times, then roll away.
  • She has a ground pound move, which you can see if she slowly raises her hands up. If you're close to her, just circle around. Otherwise, run as far as you can from her. It has a significant radius, but you should be able to avoid it. Around half health and below, she does a nastier version with a wider range. Better off circling around her.
  • Amelia can heal. If she starts jumping backwards, it probably means she's going to stare at her necklace and heal up. I typically just run up to her and wail on her. It's possible to interrupt her, but it takes a lot of damage-dealing.

Thanks for the tips Dominus. I didn't get a chance yesterday. I'll try that today with her.

Oh I haven't tried playing co-op yet!

But hopefully this weekend I'll play with my bf and if I don't have Amelia dead by then, he'll kill her for me lol.

I actually still haven't beat this - I got to the end and just stopped. I intended to finish the chalice dungeons off before beating the final boss, (I know the progress carries over, but I wanted to do it anyway.) but I just never got around to it. I'm a horrible person, prolonging the hunt for...weeks.

I did however pick it back up tonight after what seems like ages and gave that undead giant a piece of my mind. And a greatsword to the leg-tumor.

Great! I'm still in Cathedral Ward right now so I'll be able to do these things still.

Alright, I have a question. Beat Gascoigne, went a bit further, passed through the church, I eventually got to a door that needs to be opened with an emblem (a gate that is). Where would I find that emblem?

I got it by buying it for 10,000 blood echoes from the messengers in the bath in the Hunters Dream. I'm not sure if there's another way to get it.

As Dobby said, it is sold by the Messengers. You can however access that area without paying to open the door, but you'll have to defeat Blood-starved beast and gain access to the Healing Church Workshop. There's a map of the areas in the wiki if it helps :)

It's not the giant rat or whatever it was in the sewer, right? I do remember that Celestial Beast on the bridge, which I still haven't killed yet.

The Blood-Starved Beast is a boss in Old Yharnam. It's the area you reach by going under the stairs hidden under the altar in Cathedral Ward. It's not very difficult but careful with the poison!

It was a bad day yesterday.

Henryk the Hunter killed Eileen. I can't go back and try again as the game autosaves. I can't kill Henryk either. He's too strong and fast. Afterwards, Vicar Amelia killed me rather quickly. Then I went into Old Yharnam and got blasted away by that Hunters shooting.

Maybe today will be better lol.

Oh yes, and I was also chased away by what I think were two Hunters standing in an area by a well were you can hear praying. I've no idea what area that was. I was able to get behind one and perform a visceral attack but then the other one came to help. I ran out of there before they killed me.

Eileen got killed by Henryk in my game too, and he ended up killing me with only a sliver of health left. :S

You should do Old Yharnam first, then go to the left of the chapel where Vicar Amelia is fought.

He can be killed once you get up to the tower, I'd advise running past everything until you get to the first ladder available. He's deceptively easy to take down - you can either shoot him the moment you spot him so he'll fall, or just corner him near the edge and punch him a bunch. The way there will take a bit of time to remember, though.

Afterwards, Vicar Amelia killed me rather quickly.

She does craploads of damage, unfortunately - the ground pound wind-thing can nearly one-hit you. A simple solution is to explore everything before her. Blood-Starved Beast is fairly easier compared to Vicar, who is not a pushover by any means. Numbing Mist(as pointed out by VaatiVidya) is extremely handy if she tries to heal - it will prevent any healing, period.

Also:

Getting Runes will make a big difference. There are two subtly-placed routes close to Vicar's Boss Room, it's on the upper side of the stairs. One leads to a mysterious door. The other will help a great deal if you can get to the end of it. The 2 hunters by the well are likely the place you landed at. The rune-maker is in the other direction.

I'll put in a universal Bloodborne/Souls tip. If you don't think you'll survive Vicar the next round, try "testing" the boss. Let her go nuts, but stay out of her hit range. Almost all her moves are melee, so just back up and try to see what makes her tick. If she finishes a move, and you're behind her, she'll probably try a back swipe behind her. Typically rolling is enough to bypass it.

Blood Starved Beast has fallen. I'll go to the place on the left before facing Amelia again.

Oh and Jolly Cooperation sucks when other jerk Hunters ivade and kill you lol. At least by killing the Bell Maiden you can eliminate that from happening, but it's so annoying!

The Witch of Hemwich is down. Easiest fight ever! I think some crows and dogs are harder than that fight.

But Vicar Amelia still stands.

Yeah, The Witch isn't too bad. :) With Runes, Vicar Amelia will be a good deal easier. I'm pretty sure "Lake" is right around Hemwick's Love Pad™. When in doubt, the Chalice Dungeons are a good way to level up a bit, if you've already cleared out everything else before the Albino Reindeer. I'd personally advise sending at least Arianna to the Oedon Chapel, and anyone else around that spot.

Oh yes! I completely forgot about all those people inside those houses, so I'll go talk to them again. I already found 2 runes so hopefully that will help me with the Albino Reindeer , that name is great!

For those who've beaten the game and are still scratching their heads, there have been quite a few Lore videos explaining the Monolithic Puzzlebox of Yharnam's Story. It's been very eye-opening, and I'm going to go as far to say the Story's far more Compelling than FromSoftware's previous work.
